We found great deals on expedia. Carousel Inn $119 for a concierge room (this is what I want)Hilton Anaheim $119/nt (best friends choice)

I figure if we stay at Carousel then we will save on parking at the park.

BFF just likes the Hilton brand.

The Hilton is likely nicer. HOWEVER (and yes, it's a big however), it is really not what I would consider within easy walking distance. You can do it, but it's a hike. (The ART does stop right at the hotel, I believe).

The Carousel is literally right across the street, less than 5 minutes from the front of the hotel to the gates.

I would rather stay in a nice room that is across the street than in a nicer room that I'd have to take a shuttle or tram to get to the parks. So, so much more convenient if you want to drop off purchases or go get a sweater or take a rest in the middle of the afternoon.

We stayed at the Carousel Inn in May 2013. It was nice because it was only a 5 minute walk from our room to the DL entrance. The rooms were good, but we were standard rooms, not concierge. If you have a car the parking is extra and it is valet only as it's tight, tight spots. The site advertises that you can see the fireworks from the hotel, but honestly, it's not the best view. I mean you can see them but it's a way better experience if you are at DL. The pool looked nice but we didn't have time to swim. I will say that it is smaller than some of the other hotels I've stayed at during DL trips in the past. The pizza place at the hotel is AMAZING!! It was $10 per pizza and you get as many toppings as you want. The staff there were really great too. We are going to DL again in October & the only reason we aren't staying at the Carousel Inn again is because they didn't have the rooms we wanted left & the ones they did have left were out of our budget.

I stayed at the Hilton in May. I loved it. The rooms were spacious and quiet. I felt it was updated and very clean. Loved the Starbucks in the lobby. But, it was a walk to the parks. DH and I were wishing we had taken a cab back from the parks. It didn't help that our room felt like it was a mile away from the elevators too. Also be aware they charge a lot for parking there. And there are no refrigerators in the room either. I would stay there again. I think I would take ART or a cab to and from the parks though.

This.

We've always thought the Carousel was nice, but of course, we've stayed at nicer hotels. We choose it for the location. When we went in December with friends and stayed there my friend did complain the hotel was a "motel", but she has fancy tastes. :cutie:

It's all about location for us.

Just back from the Carousel Inn. We LOVED it. We used to stay at the Fairfield Inn, but the Carousel Inn was closer and we asked for the Micechat rate and only paid $89 per night. We had a room on the 5th floor with two queens. We have already booked our next few trips there and we will be staying there again in December, January and May.

I don't htink your walk to the esplanade will be any quicker from the parking lot there, vs just walking from Hilton. Keep your car parked there (there IS a parking charge though) and just walk or take ART.

I like the Hilton. It's a proper hotel and the beds are comfy and it's just nice.

I didn't like my stay at Carousel. It's a motel, the doors seemed flimsy, and in an occurrence that likely can only happen to me and no one else ever again, when the shower caused flooding AND the fire alarm to go off in my room, after midnight, no one ever came up to assist me. Knowing I was alone and that I was too short to try to turn the smoke detector off. (they knew because I told them when I called down) I had to deal with it, alone, after midnight, and I didn't appreciate that. Even worse, it was the same day the news was filled with headlines about a big hotel fire in Vegas, and you would think the clerks there might have cared a bit more about their place.

I can't imagine that will ever happen to anyone again, but it just showed the management style, and it did not impress.

That said, it's right next to Pizza Press, and that place is delicious.

Thank you everyone! Lots of things to consider! We have both places reserved..just need to make a final decision. My BFF only likes places eith all white sheets and comforters..do either have this?Ji

I believe both have the white sheets/comforter set up. I like both places. Rooms at Hilton are slightly nicer. I like the hotel feel at Hilton. But the closeness of CI is great.
