Day 3 monday 14th november
Totally forgot to arrange with the front desk to leave my room number for Jen_UK who’s arriving today and who we’re sharing a wishes cruise with, so make a note to track her down later as she arrives today.
Still not totally recovered from the flight delay and subsequent jet lag so head to AK as it’s a shorter day. The xmas tree is fantastic and we spend many minutes admiring it. We decide to get Reggie a manual wheelchair today as then theres no chance of a breakdown. Head straight up to Kilimanjaro safaris where we walk on again due to the chair, Little Red gets murdered by poachers and we all enjoy a bowl of elephant soup after (oh sorry did I just dream that bit?) There weren’t any lions out today as its too hot (I know its hard to believe at the moment) and we enjoy a leisurely walk around the jungle trail after. We stop in Harambe village for a frozen lemonade and to watch the very bendy people (no idea what their name is but they’re great) and then head off to Asia, the theming here is fabulous, having been lucky enough to visit Ranthambhore in India (setting for the jungle book) I can honestly say it was like being back there, the imagineers have got it spot on. We queue for about, oh, 3 minutes for Kali river rapids and luckily for us the nice japanese couple sharing our raft get to go down backwards so we merely get splashed.
Its now afternoon and Daniels with us once more, he wants to get soaked and so does Callum so I take them back on the rapids whilst Ruth and Reg wait. They are not disappointed and we come off drenched. We intend to grab a bite to eat and then catch flights of wonder but the counter service is sooo slowww so we missed that completely but did get a nice szechuan chicken meal out of it. We go to inspect the tree of life,of course its breathtaking and as we start the line for Its tough to be a bug the heavens opened. Luckily the shows indoors and as we emerge its cleared up a bit. Dan didn’t enjoy this one much and neither does Callum but Ruth and Reg loved it, especially the departure of the maggots, cockroaches etc.
My one insistence of the day is that we catch the Festival Of the Lion King so we mooch off to Camp Minnie Mickey, there are a number of characters out on the greetings trail all dressed up for xmas and a show is just about to start we put the kids in line for the autographs and photos, this turns out to be a good move as when we get into the next show we get great seats in the warthog section and they don’t have huge lines to join after for the characters.
What can Isay about this show??? Its definitely my favourite, complete and utter entertainment, if it went on for 2 hours it wouldn’t be long enough for me, I’ve seen it probably about 6 or 7 times now and it just gets better, Those singers and acrobats are just so talented. I leave with tears in my eyes and a hakuna matata on my lips.
We catch Lilo and Stitch on the path back up towards discovery island and as they are Callums absolute favourite we stop again for autographs and photos.
Unfortunately this leaves us a bit late to catch a good spot for Mickeys Jammin Jungle parade but we manage to squeeze the kids onto a wall and get a very obstructed view of it ourselves.
Its about 4:30 and the park is noticeably quieter so we head for Dinoland, Dinosaur is our first stop and it’s a walk on, Reg decides he’s had enough thrills for one day and Callum can’t be persuaded to try it as he’s a bit of a wuss!. This is a first for me and I really enjoyed it, giggled like a loon at my mum who was screaming the whole way round. The only thing I did notice was my ears ringing as I got off, God, it was so loud!
After the kids had a bit of a play in the boneyard we headed back to the hotel, shared an enormous pizza from the food court and the kids had a swim.
Had to go to reception to get my room key reactivated and met Jen and Alex just checking in, exchanged room numbers and arranged to meet early for our wishes cruise so we could grab a drink in the Poly beforehand.
A nice Baileys on ice before bed time and a dream of Simba and dinosaurs in Asia

When I read other people's reports about AK, I really feel like we must have missed so much as I don't remember any of what is mentioned. I am absolutely determined to catch FOTLK when we go next year, having missed it 2 years on the trot now :guilty:

With Expedition Everest opening soon, I think AK will shortly be one of the more popular parks and I'm certainly looking forward to going back :)

Enjoyed reading your report ~ Thanx for posting.

Another great day!

AK sounded just the perfect tonic, before the wee tonic before bed ;)

We have been to AK twice now and still not managed to see FOTLK so next time it is a definate must see. I love the Kali rapids although next time I am takeing spare clothes as it took all day for us to dry out. :)
