Day 2 sun nov 13th
After yesterdays horrendous flight problems there was no way we’d make it to MK for the opening ceremony so after we’d all showered and breakfasted it was about 10 o’ clock, never mind we’d catch the openings another time, we headed off to MK at about 10:20 and the place was heaving already. Isn’t it the most magical sight? Entering Main street with all the christmas deccies up and the music playing, sun beating down. We’d got Reggie an ECV wheelchair as his leg and groin strain was playing up badly from standing all day yesterday, so we whizzed away, first stop Tommorrowland and straight onto Buzz lightyear where we saved the planet from evil emperor Zurg. The kids buy light sabres from the little stall there, so that’s them happy! We then went on to the TTA which I feel is one of the underrated attractions as its such a nice leisurely ride around, I think we did this twice in a row before heading up to Toontown, stopping to admire the xmas deccies and all the tiny details on the way.
We toured Minnie and Mickeys houses and took lots of photos of the kids and my mum doing daft things like sewing on Minnies sewing machine and raiding her fridge. Its now about 1 o’clock so we head through fantasy land, stopping to fastpass winnie the pooh and eat in Pinocchios.
After lunch we go to It’s a small world as I’d been telling Ruth all year how annoying the song was so she couldn’t wait! And due to the wheelchair it was a walk on. It does look really bright and shiny since the refurb and we all sang along like loonies.
Unfortunately the ECV experiences a breakdown on the way back out and a very nice helpful American man carried it up the whole slope. We managed to get Reg over to a decent spot for the parade viewing in Frontierland, right beside the stocks and I went to find a CM to call down to the wheelchair desk to get a replacement. We watch the share a dream come true parade which is of course fabulous. The new Ecv hasn’t arrived yet so Mum and I take Daniel and Callum off to do Winnie the Pooh and Philharmagic, shame Ruth and Reg missed out but they were happy to wait in the sun and we’d definitely do MK again.
New Ecv arrives and we potter off to the far end of Frontierland, stopping on the way to catch the Country Bears Jamboree, we saw this last year and to be honest the whiny country and western style really got on my nerves but this years show was a holiday themed one and it was actually a really good laugh, particularly loved the ‘Elvis’ Bear and the animatronic Buffallo etc on the wall are brilliant.
Daniel has finally woken up properly (we’d come to discover that he doesn’t speak or show any emotion at all during morning hours, you know, he’s the one with the really bored face on ride photos when everyone else is screaming their heads off) Dan likes the look of Splash mountain so we fastpass that and stand in about a 10 minute line for Big Thunder, we all go on this and it was lovely having the 6 of us in one carriage screaming and laughing, I love this ride, Its my favourite in MK.
Splash Mountain follows so after the sing song of ‘ go ahead show us your b***s’ we venture on down to Adventureland. Daniels buzzing now and claims that Splash Mountain is the coolest thing on the planet so we introduce him to Pirates Of The Caribbean, again pretty much a walk on and a great ride, we all spot the infamous hairy leg and then join the Jungle Cruise, how cool is that script? Totally corny and funny.
Its now dark and the Tiki room is closed so after Dole Whips (YUM!) we wander back towards tomorrowland, The Noodle station is shut so we grab seats outside The Plaza restaurant and get a counter service meal from Caseys, Wishes starts at 8 pm and we have great seats so we while away the time eating Ice cream from the ice cream parlour.
Wishes starts and I feel that lump in my throat, its such a beautiful display and the music is so moving I can’t help but well up. Turn to Ruth to see she’s blinking like mad as well, I’m so glad they feel this way too.
We head back down main street and drop the ECV in where a very nice CM tells us to go ahead take a manual wheelchair to get Reg down to the bus and he’ll go down and collect it later. Mum turns to me with a twinkle in her eye so we all grab wheel chairs and the kids push us down to the bus stop!
The busses are prompt and we’re back at the Movies for about 10 o’clock, the kids grab a swim in the pool and we all get to bed by 11:30.
Dream of Wishes and Jiminy Cricket

What a lovely day. Wishes is just fabulous and stirs lots of emotions for me too. I'm glad your party were enjoying it too.

another great report carol, we love SM in our family :) and wishes always starts me off

Sounds like you had a great day. I've never been on the TTA on any of my visits to the MK I've always been too busy trying to follow a touring plan. I will definately check it out on my next visit.

Great day Carol, I love the TTA its one of the best to rest those weary legs.

:rotfl: I thought that was my godson!! You should have seen his pic at Chef Mickeys - his dad said "How can you look so bored having Christmas Dinner on actual Christmas Day at actual WDW with actual Mickey Mouse?" Actually, he can do that look anywhere :rotfl2:

Glad you managed to stay awake for wishes (we never did )

Fab day, Glad the newbies enjoyed it :goodvibes
