Carnival hit by virus!

There's a french guy looking for "organisms" in Cozumel on one of the other threads. I suggested sailing Carnival! They'll hit the jackpot, well at least this week for sure!

Linda - you cracked me up - that's so funny!

Hilltopfamily - thanks for sharing that - what a wonderful gesture and I sure hope DCL would be as accomodating!

One thing we all need to do to improve this situation is QUIT USING ANYTHING THAT SAYS ANTI-BACTERIAL on the bottle.
It is very hard to find liquid soap for soap dispensers that is not anti-bacterial. I have come up with a good solution- I use Ivory or Dove dishsoap in my pump dispensers- it's cheap too.

In regards to Disney being a "clean ship", I can't tell you how impressed I was at that - you saw people cleaning EVERYWHERE, ALL THE TIME, I'm completely serious. My daughter asked me "Why are they always painting and cleaning when this is a brand new ship?" and was shocked when I told her the age of it...she attributed it to the fact that they clean everything 100 times a day!

The first day at the Topsiders brunch, they had a woman serving the desserts from the buffet, they didnt' want the guests to touch the serving utensils having just come on board from goodness knows where...I was impressed with that as well.

What I found interesting was the fact that on the flight down from Boston, half way through, the stewardess asked if there were any medical folks on board, as someone was terribly sick. He had been in the bathroom most of the flight, and then was having shaking and nausea attacks. I got fairly upset, as here I was stuck on a plane with that person, and because the medical person was 2 rows in front of me, I heard that he had been sick the night before as well...but still got on the plane. I could picture our vacation ruined because of some bug someone brought on board. He got so bad that when we landed, we were greenlighted right to the gate - I've never been on a plane that taxied that fast!! And we were instructed to remain in our seats as the paramedics brought him off the plane - when we deplaned, he was in a wheelchair with an IV already in, thank goodness they helped him so quickly.

I didn't think about it again till the next day, when guess who was in line at the dock the next day. And who was in our dining rotation, and even sat next to us at Palo.

NOW...we did not get sick, and to be totally honest I believe he had a diabetic reaction, because on the plane the medical person gave him sugar under his tongue and the shaking stopped...but doesn't it make you wonder about what people answer when asked at check in about anyone in your party being sick for the past 72 hours?? *sigh*

I think that at the buffett line, they should make everyone use a plastic glove before going through it. It might cost a little extra, but atleast we wouldn't have to worry about anyone not washing their hands before going down the buffett line. Buffett's always freak me out in that sense. I was on the Wonder when the Magic got sick and boy did I get scared. I just hope all goes well when I sail next week. I know I wash my hands and I certainly make my kids do it. I just hope everyone else does the same!
