Carnation, Plaza or Cafe Orleans???

We just ate at the Cafe Orleans last week and we enjoyed it. I think your kids would like this location because if you sit on the outside patio captain jack walks right by and schmoozes with all the people sitting on the patio, he even stopped and talked a bit plus had pics taken with the people sitting along the railing, then all his buddies follow behind him goofing around then jack sparrow walks over to the right a bit to sign autographs and all his buddies put on a show, singing and playing a little flute on a raised stage that is visible from the restaurant then jack comes back and joins them at the end.

Does anyone know if the Mardi Gras show is still going on? I saw it the last time I ate at Cafe Orleans (11/5 at around 4:30pm). If you haven't seen it, the show begins when costumed singer (with a gorgeous singing voice) and her band emerge from the shops of NOS. They march/dance out to the steps of the Disney Gallery and entertain for about 20 minutes. Diners in the patio at CO and those in line for POTC get a nice little distraction.

Mardi Gras at T'giving/Christmas time? That's what I said, but I decided not to ask questions. :)

Here is a link to some pics of Cafe Orleans with Captain Jack, the monte cristo sandwich and the pomme fritz (really good). Jack seemed to spend quite a bit of time hanging around the street in front of the cafe, we were there eating at least an hour plus we noticed he was there again when we walked by later in the afternoon, we were there about 1:00 PM. We did not have reservations but they took walk-ups with about a 20 minute wait. They tryed to seat us inside but we asked if we could sit outside and they said no problem, which turned our great because we were able to watch the back of the stage where the pirates were putting on a bit of a show, it was cute they were all singing.

Also included some pics of Ariels Grotto where we got to meet the princess's, the meal was so-so, we had the cheese burgers which were huge and looked great but strangely tasteless, I asked for my burger to be cooked medium well - well done and it still was pink inside so it was a disapointment. The kids at the next table ordered chicken fingers from the kids menu and there was as much food on their plate as an adult plate and it looked really good, but for some reason the chicken fingers were only listed on the kids menu so we did not even know they were an option, next time we will definitely order them.

Also the hostess upstairs at the front door of the Grotto, was really odd, she really needed a sprinkling of pixie dust LOL We sat there for about 40 minutes watching her in action and I swear she chased off most of their business. All questions were answered abruptly without any detail - example - I asked her if there was a washroom I could use while we waited and she just said "downstairs", she saw that I was relying quite heavily on my cane but did not bother to tell me that there was an elevator directly behind her, instead she watched as I struggled down the stairs, and when I saw the elevator on the way up and used it, as I exited the elevator I said "I wished I would have known about the elevator on the way down, my leg is really sore, she just said "yup". She did the same thing to several mom's with babies in strollers and another elderly lady, it was really a strange way for a hostess to behave.

Several people had to ask her to repeat herself or to elaborate when they asked questions because she was so abrupt with her answers, it' was like they were thinking "was she just rude to me, did I hear that right?"

Once we were downstairs though we did have a good time and got lots of attention and pics with the princess's, and as you can see by the pics the grotto is really cute, the glass mural along one long wall was beautiful, and they had jellyfish light fixtures and seaweed spiraling up the columns - really well done, but don't go just for the food which is nothing to write home about but ok, mainly go for the pictures. My dd is 14 and she still loved it.
