My adult daughter and I don't tend to eat large portions at dinner time, so usually split a restaurant meal. Would we be allowed to each order a chicken fried chicken meal from the children's menu at the Carnation Café, or do we just say that we'll share 1 regular order from the adult menu? Is there an extra cost to split a meal? I'm just wondering how relaxed the policy is when it comes to age restrictions at a TS eatery.

At TS if an adult orders a child portion they'll serve you twice the food for twice the price. I'm not sure if they'd let 2 adults share a doubled child portion. But in this case, the price is almost the same. Carnation isn't one of the places that lists a split plate charge on their menu, plus it doesn't seem to be that strictly enforced anyway. I'd just ask about ordering an extra side a la carte if you want more food and leave an extra tip to cover for one less entree ordered.

I also don't really know how the child's portion would work, but I've ordered the adult portion and it's fairly large. I've shared that with another member of my family without any problems (and not split plate fee - I think only Blue Bayou and Cafe Orleans has a split plate fee). So, personally, I would probably opt to just order the adult portion of the chicken fried chicken and share it.

You might order a side of mashed and gravy. The chicken and veggies are always enough to split, but the mashed potatoes never seem enough.

We always share the adult's chicken entree, and it works out well. No split fee. We just ask for an extra plate.
