Has anyone else here read this book? I got it for Christmas and just finished it.

It is about the 1989 (I believe) murders of several family members, including two of his daughters, by Ramon Salcido. One of the daughters he attempted to murder (he slit her throat), miraculously survived and she wrote a book telling about her life before the murders and since. Such a sad, sad story.

I'm sure I heard about it when it happened, but I don't remember hearing about it. It happened in Sonoma, Ca.

Anyone remember?

*bumping to help promote this young woman's book. If you google carmina salcido, you'll find a bunch of information about the murders.

This poor little girl, not quite three years old, survived having her throat slashed along with her sisters and then lying in a ditch with their bodies for 36 hours until she was rescued. What came next for her wasn't too much better, poor thing.

I saw her on TV ("Kids of Kllers" on E!) and that was the first I had heard of her story. Living in NJ could be the reason why though. Brave young woman in my eyes. Such a sad story.

I'll have to try and catch that. She seems to be doing ok. I saw a post on facebook from her that said she hadn't seen any money from the book yet and was still quite poor. :(

What a sad story. That poor girl! I'm interested in reading that book now. Thank you so much for posting about it, if you hadn't I never would have known it was out there.

Wow, what an awful story. It does sound familiar to me, and I'd also be interested in reading the book.

thanks for letting us know about it.

i remember it very clearly because i grew up in napa california. i remember the manhunt for him and how amazed everyone was that the one little girl had managed to survive over 30 hours with a slit throat at that dump site.

i commuted to college through sonoma, and given how rural and untraveled some of those roads are it is nothing short of a miracle that she was found.

I didn't read the book, but I remember hearing about it recently. I think they were trying to promote the book. So sad.

I heard she auditioned, but I don't watch it, so I didn't know if it already aired or not.
