Hi,I'm totally new to this,so obviously skeptical of the process. I'm looking to plan another trip to WDW in June 2006. I have the going price on the room rates,I'm curious to see if indeed there are some nice savings to be had here(recommended by mouspad).I'm thinking 4 nights 5 days or 3 nights 4 days, not sure yet,it would be for 4 adults.

Any help is greatly appreciated
Bill

Hello Bill,

I just did a search on current room rates available for the month of June of 2006. In my search, I picked middle of the month of June(because I don't know your exact dates). I entered June 12 to June 16 (4 nights) at the All-Star Movies resort (Value resort) with a Standard Room View. The room nights ended up being $119 per night plus $61.92 in tax (this quote was for 4 people) and the total came to $476. This is for the most basic room you could get with no refrigerator, microwave, toaster, wet bar, etc... For the same amount of time on the same dates, you could stay at Old Key West resort (for example) for 44 points at $10 per point and your total would be $440. At any DVC property, you would get all the perks for the same price or less.

Youve got to be a DVC salesperson! :rotfl2:

JK! Youve got to be nuts not to do this! I made the mistake of booking at CBR through disney, and have kicked myself ever since!

Hello Again Bill,

By the way, the above example that I sent you on pricing comparisons was just an example of what a value resort would be. For a stay at the Caribbean Beach resort for 4 people during the same time frame, for 4 nights, your total would be $825.12 (Moderate resort). This includes: Per night room price of $185 (Room total $740) and tax would be $85.12.

Hi Bill-

For me the beauty of Disney DVC is often to obtain larger accommodations. If the travel party was 4 adults I would look at a 2 bedroom. I think you will be pleased with the results you find here. Best of luck.

The DVC Forum is a better location for a discussion about comparing rental of DVC villas versus other resorts.

Once you know what resort, dates and room type you'll be interested in renting, please repost that request on the Rent/Trade Board.

Good luck!

As dermh mentioned, when comparing DVC to value or moderate resort, there often isn't enough savings to justify dealing with a private party. DVC studio units are about the same size as regular resort rooms but you do get a fridge, microwave and a small wet bar. It's when you compare a deluxe on-site resort to DVC that you truly appreciate the savings. It's often 30%-40% less than Disney rack rates.
It's an option you should at least consider IMO.
