Has anyone ever stayed at the Caribe Royale, if so how was it? There will be five of us including three kids ages 5, 8, and 10. I am trying to decide between this and Holiday Inn Family Suites which I have stayed at before and loved it but feel maybe this time I should try something different but do not want to regret it! Which one would you pick??

I too would love to hear feedback from people who have stayed at both... I'm leaning towards HIFS again, because of the full breakfast etc... but have been interested in Caribe Royale as well....

I have stayed at both. They are very different resorts and I love them both. Caribe Royal is more elegant and has a really cool pool with a slide it is a wonderful resort!!!! Their breakfast buffet was pretty good HIFS is just slightly better. I usually choose to stay at HIFS because of the sweetheart suite! I can't recommend one over the other it would be more of a personal taste or what you want out of a vacation. I feel more formal at Caribe Royal and I feel more relaxed at HIFS. I think HIFS is more geared toward children with the kids suites and things like that. I know you would be happy there but it is different than HIFS. If you want to try something new than go for it. You will not be disappointed. I give Caribe Royal my thumbs up and would never hesitate to stay there. HIFS however, it slightly closer to Disney but only by a few minute maybe 2 or 3 if that matters to you! Let us know what you decide!!!

Thanks for the feedback... Boy am I jealous of you - Grand Floridian!! Maybe once the kids are out of the house! hehe! Does Caribe Royale have a full (free) breakfast buffet like HIFS? I looked on their website but didn't see that referenced..
Thanks for the info!

Your welcome!! Yes I stayed there a little over a year ago and they did offer a buffet breakfast. It is similar to HIFS just a little less offerings I believe but pretty much the same. I really think you will love the resort and the pool. The rooms are sooo spacious especially the bedroom.. they are definetely bigger than HIFS. The rooms are really nice too! I would give it a try.. you won't be sorry if it is like it was when I stayed there... You get a wow factor when you pull up.. It is a beautiful resort. I hope you have the best time if you stay there. Yes I am really excited to stay at the Grand Floridian. It is my first time! I love that resort too although I will miss the suites that we could have if we stayed at Caribe Royal or HIFS , but I know I will love it just because it is so beautiful and I have always wanted to stay there. I can't wait although I think I will still stay at HIFS or Caribe Royal for at least part of my trips even when I do Disney hotels for a few nights too. We want to add an extra night but haven't been successful getting another night at the Grand and it is getting a little close now so I think I will be adding a delux whirlpool tower room at Hotel Royal Plaza for something new, so I hope I like it there as well!! Anyway let me know if I can be any more help! Good luck deciding!! :Pinkbounc

I heard that the Caribe stop serving breakfast buffet. Before it was their main advertising tool but have heard from these boards that they have stopped serving breakfast. Lots of info on Caribe was on here if you can do a search.

Hifs still does offer it and is the main part of their advertisement.:bounce:

Water slide or free breakfast? That is what it would come down to for us. My kids LOVE a water slide, but free breakfast for 5 is a big savings. Caribe did stop their breakfast buffet.

I was looking at the prices of Caribe Royale at the Mousesavers site, and wondering if I should change my reservation for 2 nights to there. We fly in late FRI night and will leave Sunday afternoon. It's just to acclimate to the time change before we start our "real" vacation.

But hearing that there isn't even a free breakfast is making me think we should just stay with our HIFS reservation.

Decision, decisions!!

The free breakfast was too important for us as well... we saved a bundle on food by filling up in the morning. If Caribe Royal was still doing that I'd definately give them a try.. also if I'm not mistaken (I've been on too many hotel websites lately:earseek: ) that CR's 1 bedroom suite only has a pull out sofa instead of a sectioned off bedroom area like HIFS & the prices on the 2 Bedrooms at CR were a bit pricey for me...
Thanks for all the help!
