My husband and I are thinking about staying at the Caribbean Beach Resort next July/August. What can anyone tell me about this resort. I welcome all input good and bad. Is it worth the money? I do realize you get what you pay for and it really depends how much time you spend at the resort. We are pretty excited about planning our trip for next year. We plan on staying a week and visiting Discovery Cove, WDW (OF COURSE), MGM, Sea World. I also am looking for information or experiences on any of those places too. Thanks very much!

CBR is a great resort to stay at. I suggest you read the CBR thread listed below. It has many trip reports from others that have stayed at CBR along with lots of helpful info about the resort.

You will feel like you have truly escaped to a tropical island when you stay at CBR.

If you have any more questions I suggest you post them in that thread and you will find others that can help answer with their own experiences.

Welcome to the DIS boards.

Well, I never stayed at CBR so I don't have first -hand experience. Here's the reasons I decided not to stay there:

Look closely at the pictures. They are all exterior corridors and appear to open onto busy areas, such as sidewalks, pools, etc. We didn't want all the foot traffic and ensuing noise.

From other posts I've read, this is a very large, sprawling resort. Depending on where you're located, it can be quite a hike to the eating areas and bus stops. Not what you'd want after a long, hot day in the parks.

From what I've read, the eating facilities are inadequate for the number of guests. At peak times this can often result in crowds, pushing, shoving, etc. Also, this resort is located some distance from other resorts so it would take some time to take the bus elsewhere to eat.

I'm just not that impressed with the pictures I've seen of the rooms. They look like a cheap motel to me. The bed is next to the window, so you'd get all the outside noise. Also, the ac is right next to one of the beds, so whoever slept in that bed would get quite a breeze.

IMHO, you could do better for the price.

vhoffman,

yes the rooms open to the outdoors. I don't see that as a negative but as a positive. You have something very nice to look at while walking to your room. There also isn't a lot of noise because of it. It's probably quieter than interior hallways. The main pool is not located near the rooms and the quiet pools are just that usually quiet.

The food court is new as of Jan. and is now able to handle large crowds because they now have a central check out.

The AC is not right next to the bed. There is a table and chairs and then the two beds. We never had a problem with a breeze off the unit.

The resort is centrally located and it only 5-7 mins by bus to Epcot and 10 mins to MK. Lots of buses service CBR and there is an internal bus that circles the resort.

It is a moderate so if you are looking for a deluxe it isn't the same but I have stayed at CBR more times than I care to admit and it is beautiful. The theming is beautiful and is much nicer than a standard room at other hotels.
