I was wondering if anyone knows this for sure or not, I heard that the Caribbean Beach resort pool will be closed from January til June? Does anyone know the truth to that? And does anyone out there like this particular resort? pirate:

Welcome to the DIS!!! There is a great thread on the homepage about the pool rehab updates. You may want to start there. Also, I'll move this to the Disney resorts board for you. I'm sure someone can help there. :)

I know I've heard something about a pool rehab, but don't know the specific dates (we're not planning a vacation at that time!). But, I can tell you that we LOVED CBR. We were there for a week this past April, and it is absolutely beautiful. Our room was kept very clean, and was really spacious for the 5 of us - with a pak n play. The food court was great - very kid-friendly and lots of variety. I picked up a "continental" breakfast for us there every morning - I'm the morning person in our family - and we ate one lunch and one dinner there as well. We did not eat in the restaurant, so I can't comment on that.

We had towel animals three times (in a 6-night stay) and every evening when we got back from the parks, my kids' stuffed animals were arranged (in the windowsill, on the bed playing kick ball, etc.) They got such a kick out of that!

I've read posts where people complain about the size of the resort, but we didn't find that to be a problem. We did not pay for a preferred room, but requested a room in Jamaica, which we got. From there, it was a short (5-10) minute walk to Old Port Royale (food court, main pool, etc). The walk is gorgeous - across a little "tropical island", with beaches in the background and calypso music playing. I looked forward to the walk every morning. Our bus stop was directly behind our building - no more than 2-3 minute walk.

By the way, I'm also from Pittsburgh - South Hills!

Have a great time!

Yes they will be rehabbing the pool at the CBR--I don't know what the dates are--however they are installing slides on the smaller pools during the rehab.

If you keep checking the first post in the CBR FAQ you can see the most recent information. As I receive further updates I will post them there.

Link is listed below.

We are staying at CBR in Nov., and when I booked the CM said, "Oh good, you're coming before the pool rehab!!" She went on to say that the pool is shutting down in Jan. and although dates of June and Sept. have been thrown around, the word down there is that they will be happy if it is done by Dec. She said the pool area will have a Pirates of the Carribean theme, but that it is gonna take a long time to complete. Like another poster mentioned, they are putting slides at some or the quiet pools to make up for the fact the main pool will be closed.
As for the resort, we really like CBR. Well, I guess we should, DH propsed to me on the beach in Martinique!!!!! But we haven't stayed there since 1996, (we are DVC owners now) but when we took our son to the Pirate Cruise there in June, we fell in love with all over again. The CS area was really pretty, with tons of food choices, and the store was bigger than I remember! We liked it so much we added days to our trip in Nov/Dec so we could spend a few days here!! Hope this helps.

Yes here is another Pittsburgh Family who loves CBR. We had a fantastic time this past June (6/8- 6/16):thumbsup2 We stayed in Jamaica Bldg 44 facing the courtyard. Awesome location!:wizard:

I read under updates on the DIS home page that the CBR main pool will be closed Jan-Sept. 15 2008. We are bummed because we were looking to stay there the last week of August, but not sure whether or not we will gamble on the pool being completed 3 weeks ahead of schedule. June completion would be great! Other than that it will be back to POR for us next August. :thumbsup2
