CBR is beautiful to walk around!

You can enjoy the fireworks from Epcot on the beach. The beach at Martinique is great for laying in a hammock or lounge chair and watching the fireworks at 9 PM. If you want to stand you can see a lot of them from the Customs House.

Other than that you could hop a bus to Downtown Disney. It is nice to walk around the lake or just sit and look at the lake.

Okay I will put the deposit down on our two rooms next weeks( waiting for credit card end of month to put off payment for a month). Anyway we booked a perferred location. I would like connecting and water view if able.
Or should I ask for Martinique to be placed in. I don't want to put in too many request buy convience with my little guy would be great.

What would you recommend to request.

Martinique is preferred. I would take that over a water view any time. Some of the water view rooms are pretty creative with the view.

Excuse me if I missed anything about this, but I'm curious about the standard rooms.

I'm going in March and I'm staying with a friend in a standard room in CBR. Another friend is thinking about joining us, but none of the three of us are comfortable sharing a bed with one another.

I saw the mention of getting rollaway beds for $15. Do you have to book those in advanced? Are they available for every room?

Also, at least one of us (yours truly) is comfortable sleeping on a couch. Do the standard rooms have 'em and are they couch-sized or more like love seats?

No couches at CBR. Putting a roll away in the room would be pretty tight. You could always bring an air mattress for the 3rd person.

We are flying in on Sat before Easter with a group of 10 people (6 adults/4 children ages 9,8,5,2). We have three rooms booked and trying to decide which area in CBR we want to stay. What exactly makes the preferred rooms "Preferred"? Is it distance to food court and main pool? If so, wouldn't they be noisier? How much more is a preferred room? We now have standard rooms.

Also, some of the posts on another website mentioned a lot of bird droppings/smelly by the bridge coming from Aruba and Jamaica. Is that really a problem?

safetymom, your FAQ has been very helpful and appreciate all that I have read so far. I have booked some rooms for week of March 14th and am traveling with my 8 & 3 yr old daughters, and also my mom and dad. I asked for Martinique, and also asked for connecting King and double rooms for all of us. Are there particular buildings in Martinique that only accommodate this request, or is it wide open? At the same time, what building would you suggest (24, 25 or 26), and can I request those now or should I wait till I get there? I am wondering about the crowd for Spring Break weeks and the availability of my options. This will be 2nd time to WDW, but first time to stay on property. Can't wait!

I have a map of the resort on my www.idhal.com website listed below.

Preferred indicates that the villages are on either side of the food court/ main pool area. I have stayed in both villages and never had a problem with noise.

I have stayed in all three buildings at Martinique and enjoyed them all. It's a beautiful walk no matter where you stay at CBR. The beach at Martinique is a great place to watch the fireworks from Epcot at 9 PM every night.

If you bought and paid for a preferred location there are the combination that you asked for. There won't be a lot of them because kings typically are on the corner and they also didn't make as many king rooms.

As far as bird droppings on the island there can be some at times. They do try to clean the area but since there are a lot of birds there may be droppings. I didn't consider it excessive and I have been to CBR many many times.

As far as when to make your request you should have central reservations put your requests in your reservation. When you get to the resort if it isn't what you wanted they will try to grant your requests. They are quite good at this.

If you paid for a preferred location then you will be in those villages and you could make any requests. Personally I don't think the water view is all that great. Even the parking lot views at CBR are heavily landscaped making it hard to see the cars.

A few more questions--

If we stay with the standard rooms, would you recommend Martinique bldg 21-23 or something in Aruba or Jamaica. We have a two year old and don't want to have to get out the stroller everytime we head to the pool or food court.

How loud are the fireworks? If we were in any of the Martinique bldgs do you think they would disturb a sleeping child (light sleeper)?

This is a great forum! After spending days trying to decide which resort and then trying to get through to Reservations I am on information overload. Just a few more decisions and then I can relax for a while.

The Fireworks are not that loud your child should be ok sleeping! If you don't want to bring the stroller with you everytime you might consider Martinique or Trinidad North. In October we stayed in Jamiaca Bldg. 42 and we had about a 5-6 minute walk to the food court and main pool. I hope that helps

We stayed in Jamaica 45 in early December, which is directly across from the walkway to Old Port Royale. As scoutsmom99 said, it was just a few minutes walk over to the food court and the main pool. There is a quiet pool even closer. If you look at the CBR map, some of the buildings in the preferred villages seem to be farther from Old Port Royale than Jamaica 45 and buildings in that vicinity. It didn't seem worth it to us to pay an extra $15/night when we could be just as close in Jamaica, or Aruba for that matter. And the walk over the little island is beautiful in and of itself. Re: the fireworks, we could hear them every night in our room, but it was fairly muffled - a sleeping child likely would not be awakened. If you go outside to watch, it is a little louder. The extra holiday finale at the end of Illuminations was actually setting off car alarms, but I think that was just due to the holiday part, which they aren't doing any more.

Awhile back on this thread, someone asked about the cost of a rollaway bed......
Does anyone know the answer to this? It it $15 per night? Do you have to reserve the roll-away ahead of time?
Do all of the rooms accomodate this bed?

Also.....
I saw a post on here about BUGS - are you more likely to have bugs on the first level? Are they common?

Re: The beaches....... do people lay on the beaches in February? Is it usuall warm enough? what about at night?

Rollaways are $15 a night. It would be pretty crowded with a rollaway. All the rooms are arranged the same unless you have a King bed room with only one bed.

Bugs are common all over Florida.

There are lounge chairs on the beaches at CBR. Also hammocks are available. It all depends on the weather whether you would want to be out there. The beach at Martinique is a great place to watch the Epcot fireworks. I have lots of pictures of the resort on my websites listed below.

I would imagine all the resorts offer rollaways. CBR does have larger rooms but it isn't going to make much of a difference. You might want to think about bringing an air mattress.
