Thanks again! DS will be happy that I won't be sending him off on "ice" runs! He skates on it well, but hates filling buckets with it! :)

So say you're staying in Jamaica. You need tot ake the internal bus to the custom house to get on a bus to the parks?

No need to take an internal bus if you are staying in Jamaica. It is a short walk across the bridge to Old Port Royale and main pool.

If you don't feel like walking then you could take the bus.

for MagEpcDisAniVoyager - no, you don't need to take a bus to the Custom House to get a bus to the parks. There's a bus stop for Jamaica, as there is at every village, where the park buses pick up people. Each bus has its destination displayed on the front and right side. Just wait for the bus to the park you want to go to. The internal bus is useful if you need to get to some other part of the resort, like the Custom House, and you don't want to walk there.

Do you know if they offer discount to CBR in December. We have the AAA discount of a perferred room but always on the look out for other discounts. Thanks :D

Maybe a silly question, but do they have elevators to the second floor?

If you take a towncar there how does your luggage get to the room since it may be farther away...I am assuming bell boy takes a van of some sort?

How small is the crib? We may have 5 people one room or 6 people 2 rooms(which is what I hope for). But if so my 2 year old will go in a crib since they allow 5..he is in a bed now (but he is small) I am hoping that they would allow us to get a rollaway in there instead.

I am booking this week 2 rooms with perfered location. Thanks for all you help...since the Dolphin price is not worth it for the week we go in June...this place looks great.

No elevators at CBR. They have vans and carts that will get the luggage to your room.

When I first started reading comments about "free" fridges in rooms I was confused - when we stayed at CBR they had fridges in all rooms for free and it was a new thing. I think thar was around 1990 - by '95 the fridges were gone.

So, Disney had had fridges in moderate rooms for free before - in the early 90's. Not sure when they took them out, but guess at some point they decided to charge and once again realized it's a good perk and saves them a lot of hassle to just have one in every room. Room prices go up enough (and they charge enough anyway) to cover the now invisable fee.

I'm not putting Disney down - I love the place - but after over 30 yrs of stays, in nearly every resort,I wish they'd stick with a plan.

So far I do not like the new tkt option and felt sure, as soon as I read the details, it was not going to save money for the folks who like to travel for short periods 2 or 3 times (or more) a yr - seems it might be a good idea to reward these folks and not just get people to stay longer.

If I go 3 times a yr for 4 nights, or once for 10 ngts I am still going to spend...probably more during the shorter visit!

Just venting...here, because my next stay is at CBR :)

Thanks!

i'm staying at CBR for first time Fri - Sat for 1/2 marathon -- couple questions pls?

what is the custom house?

which bldg should I request for easy access to a bus stop that would be at the end of the loop within the resort - you know board the bus on it's way to destination and not at the beginning of the multiple stops within the resort

TIA!!

Custom House is check-in. If you have a car you can then drive to your Village, if not, they will take you there in a van or golf cart type vehicle.

As for being at the begining of the bus stops that would require a preferred room location - if you booked a preferred room (more $ than a std room, but different from a preferred view, which would be a Lake View) then request Martinique near bus stop - that is the first stop on and off during slow or busy seasons.

Have a great 1/2 Marathon! :flower1:

thanks for the info -- but actually I'd rather be on the tail end of the bus stops -- it's going to be very very early sunday morning and i'd hate to board the bus and ride it around CBR for 25 mins!

ohMom,
When I was there in October sometimes Trinidad South was the last stop and sometimes Barbados was the last stop on the route. The loop around the resort doesn't take more than 5-10 minutes though. They basically pull up people get on and mve to the next stop you should be fine at any stop.
Hope that Helps

Oops! I misunderstood - thought you meant you wanted to be first! If you want to be last then go with Barbados and you'll be fine! Last time I stayed there they told us that when it is busy, buses kind of split the resort in half so folks don't have to wait as long or buses be as crowded - which is why some people say it's a long ride around and others have not found it that way. To be safe about being last, go with Barbado's - you'll probably not have any trouble with that request becasue it is farther away.

Congrat's on the marathon!

thanks for the replies :) i called WDW group reservations and was told our group is alredy blocked and I could ask at check-in; guess i'll have my preferences ready and ask when I get there and we'll see :) thanks again

Just returned yesterday from a 4 night stay with the family at CBR. Now I know why safetymom loves this resort so much. It is simply beautiful. We stayed in Trinidad South, room 3405. I requested this island after reading all of the comments on this and the original CBR thread, due to the fact we were only in our room at night to sleep, and this seemed like the most quiet place to accomplish that, and I was right. It seemed like we had the whole place to ourselves, even though we always saw other people around the island and at the bus stop. Bus service was fantastic, only once did we wait over 10 minutes for a bus, most time the wait was under 5 minutes. Having weather in the mid 70's each day was an added bonus to our trip. The walk to Old Port Royale was a leisurely 10 minute stroll. They also have an internal bus which runs from 6:30am to 11pm, which we took advantage of at the end of the day to refill our mugs. We will definitely return to CBR sometime in the not so distance future to enjoy this wonderful resort again.

Glad to hear you had a great trip. I have never stayed at Trinidad South but would like to. It seems like it is another small resort. Thanks for your trip report.

Safetymom,

Is there anything within walking distance of CBR? We are arriving around 7 p.m. and don't want to do a park.

Thanks!

Nope. Walking is not safe from CBR to anything not CBR, unless you have access to the CM tunnel to Pop Century :)
