Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

Christina,

Instead of an air mattress you might think about bringing a portable bed rail. When we were there we pushed one bed against the wall and then put the bed rail on the other side.

Is there a dessert station in the food court? I'm trying to decide if I'd be able to use the quick and casual meal vouchers there.

I was wondering does CBR have hair dryer and irons in the rooms or should I bring my own. We are leaving in 7 days. This will be our first trip staying on site. We are so excited.:bounce: :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Yes they had a hair dryer. Full size ironing board and iron is also in the room. I am not a fan of hotels hair dryers, I don't think they blow enough air so you may want to bring your own.

Hello, this is my first time visiting Disney on my own and with my girlfriend. We are both 22 and were wondering what the alcohol situation was at CBR. Are there restaurants/eaterys that offer it? Is there an on site liquor store? What about the parks or downtown disney in general? Or is Disney primarily "dry"?

Straswell,
Welcome to the Dis! The only place in WDW that is dry is the MK! CBR has a pool bar and they also have booze for sale in the gift shop (although it is quite expensive!) Depending on what you favor I would plan on spending anywhere from $4-5 for a basic rail drink up to if not over $10 for something more fru fru ((is that a word?) (blue hawiian, lapu lapu (pineaple drink)). Pleasure Island and the bordwalk are great places to go for drinks! Go to www.allearsnet.com and check out the menu's section there for some ideas on price and availablity at restaraunts. There is no on-site liqour store I'm aware of. You would have to go to a grocery store or liqour store offsite.

Thank you, When staying at the resort are there any shuttles that will take you grocery shopping or to a liquor store?

There are no shuttles from the resorts that would take you grocery or liquor shopping. If you are taking a town car from the airport you can request a grocery stop. The grocery stores sell beer and wine.

You could also take a taxi from your resort.

I had posted this in the resort discussion thread, and safetymom asked me to copy it to this thread:

DH and I returned Saturday night from six days at the CBR. We thought the resort was fabulous. Once we made the decision to stay there, I got all the info I needed about it from Safetymom's excellent CBR FAQ site (thanks, Safetymom!) without ever having to post a question, and Dreams Unlimited got us a great rate. I requested Jamaica, building 45 and got it with no problem - even got a front corner room facing the water and the walkway to Old Port Royale. We felt the room was very spacious, and it was quiet. We hardly ever heard anyone else. Refrigerator was in the room in a small cabinet next to the TV armoire. Bus service was excellent - I don't think we ever waited more then ten minutes, usually less. We were very impressed with the selections at the food court and how well it handled large numbers of people. We didn't get to experience the pools, but they were very inviting. Gift shop was much larger than I thought it would be. Added bonus was being able to see Wishes and Illuminations fireworks from the balcony. (It's true, the last barrage of holiday ending fireworks from Illuminations does set off car alarms at CBR - I witnessed it.) I'm sure there's more I could say, but I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone might have.

Disneyjunkie - there's no dessert station as such, but a few of the places have desserts you can buy.

Stayed in room 2236 in the Martinique building. It was a beautiful room with two windows and double beds. Maid service was excellent and the staff was wonderful. Check-in took us 10 minutes and they gave us a room right away (we were there at 10:00 in the morning). We could see the beach from one window and the courtyard from the other. Illuminations was visible from the beach side, but all we had to do was step out the room and walk about 3 feet away and had an even more incredible view of illuminations. The kids loved watching this almost every night that we were in our rooms at that time. Loud, but very much worth it.

When we went to the room, someone came about 5 minutes later to fix a leaking faucet and change a light bulb. We didn't know it needed it, but it was done. On our second night, it got really cold and the heater/ac unit was not working. DH called and told them the problem. 15 minutes later, they sent up workman, only they didn't fix it, they brought a whole new unit. We were impressed.

Overall, this was my second stay, and I loved every minute of it, I'll definately keep going back.

Any questions, I'll be happy to answer.

Caribbean Beach Internal Shuttle Temporary Change

courtesy of Chip and Dale Express
I know this probably belongs more on the Transportation board, but I think it will get more views over here.

As of the other day, there will be a temporary change to the way the Internal Resort Shuttle works in Caribbean Beach. Formerly, the Disney-MGM Studios bus would enter CBR, and make one circle as the Internal, and then a second circle as the Studios bus. To get to the Custom House, you would get off at Barbados, and cross the street.

AS of Tuesday, the Internal bus is a dedicated bus that stays within CBR, and will run from 7am-11pm, daily. It will continue to stop at all 7 island stops, as well as now making a stop at the Custom House itself.

This change is only a test, and if it proves sucessful, it might become permanent. We shall see

Is this bus configuration still happening? We will be at CBR for an extended MLK weekend. last night on a whim I called to change our AP reservations from POP/AKL to CBR for the entire trip so we could try out a new resort. We're going CBR!

Debbie

Not sure about this. You might want to post on the transportation board for more info.

Yes it has changed. One bus is dedicated to driving around the CBR. It is a nice service and it makes stops even towards the custom house.

Thank you! This is just what I wanted to hear!

One more question please. We will be arriving very late on the 12th. After we check in at the custom house, how do we get to our room if we don't have a car? Happy limo will be driving us mco/resort. (and... anyone know how late publix is open?)
TIA,
Debbie

I would wait and see what Tyler has to say about the bus at CBR. They do have carts that can get you to your room.

there was an internal bus last year...why would they take this away...Noticed that all of these big resorts have this now...
OKW was doin it a few weeks ago too..
im sure it will run..besides they have the new buses coming in feburary with a few running now...

I checked with Chip and Dale Express.

Safetymom, I was just there and it is running. Stopped several times for us. I'm not sure why you want her to wait for Tyler, although I know he will confirm it for her.

Thank you, everyone, for helping answer this question!

I know I said only one more question... but, are the fridges in all the rooms now, or do you have to ask at check in?

I can't wait to get out of this cold and snow!
Debbie

There was a refrigerator in my room while I was there. THe lady at the front desk told me all rooms had them. It was a nice addition to the room.
