Ok....we haven't been to CBR since 2002. And we decided it was time to go back (it's always a debate between CBR and CSR ..... and CSR has won the last few times :goodvibes )
Anyway..... we just 2 days ago decided to upgrade from Pop to CBR for our trip in just 4 weeks.
But I just looked at those pictures of all the contruction by the pool and beach... and I am FREAKING OUT! :scared1: It looks HORRIBLE!!! :scared1:
PLEASE.... if someone has been there in the last couple weeks... please put my mind at ease!!! It it really that bad???
I love to walk in the morning and we planned to rent bikes.... is it going to be a pain? Is it that much of an EYE SORE??? it sure looks like it from the pics :scared1:

I took the pictures. The construction is all behind screens so you won't see any of what is in the pictures. You can still ride bike around the resort. You just take a detour through a little used parking lot by OPR.

Relax MON! Don't worry about it...Really :goodvibes

I think the pics show you just the construction which is a very small area.
I too just returned from CBR on 12/02/2007, and it was our FIRST trip there.
The construction only became apparent as you walked over the bridge to OPR. Other than that the rest of the resort is gorgeous. We were in Jamaica Bldg 41, we heard no construction noise.

We Loved CBR more than POR, so bright and cheery. POR seems gloomy to me.

I have to say we LOVED it there, and we talked to the construction people there who told us the plan was to expand the MAIN pool, that the main pool at CBR was too small, and they were 'bringing it out'. They said the Castle over the main pool with the canons is being demolished. I'm not sure of the accuracy but I would think the construction guys would know, and my husband talked to them daily.

I will be creating a trip report soon, with LOTS of CBR pics, and video! As soon as Im done uploading all my photos...(800 plus+!!)

Can't wait to see the pics and video -- and thanks to you and to Safetymom for the updates!!! Can't wait to be back at CBR!!!

We are just back from 8 nights at CBR. We stayed in Barbados ( same as last visit) in building 14. While it was little bit of a walk to the food court, we liked it because it was very quiet. Comfortable beds and a clean room. We didn't see any construction. Check in went much quicker this time because there were more CMs. The food court was missing a couple of the items we enjoyed last time ( ie Cobb salad), but overall the food was good. One night we has pizza delivered and that was good too.

It was a good trip and enjoyed the 80 degree temps since it's cold with snow here!

We just returned from our third consecutive year staying in CBR. As always, it's a beautiful, clean resort. Check in has always been smooth and our room is always ready. We requested a first floor and were granted that. We stayed in Jamaica, which I actually prefer over the 'preferred locations'. I think Aruba and Jamaica grounds are prettier.

I did notice (as was mentioned somewhere on these boards) that the beds do squeal terribly. Everytime somebody rolled over you would hear it. I do not recall noticing that before. Hubby and I both had stiff necks all week too, due to rock hard pillows. Maybe they need new mattresses and pillows.

The food court has a nice selection and food is pretty good. Service seemed slightly slower this time around.

The construction did not interfere with our trip at all. The times we were at the pool and pool bar, we really did not hear much construction at all. A security guard at the jobsite told me they are basically extending the walkway out over the water, and then extending the pool area into what was the old walkway.

The buses were running pretty close together all week. One morning I did wait 45 minutes for a Magic Kingdom bus though........also the morning I had a CRT breakfast!! I was starting to panic but another lady complained to the driver and he didn't seem to believe her. He then got off after his second stop (there was a CM standing at that bus stop) and he checked a clipboard, got on the bus, skipped the rest of the stops, and took us directly to MK. So I am guessing the CM confirmed the lag in MK buses. I made the ADR with about 2 minutes to spare!

I think I am ready to try a deluxe resort next time.....mainly because I'd like something with a suite and also to see if we can find a way to get to the parks quicker. While the buses were good, it can still take almost an hour to get to your location and that's hard for our little ones..

I still highly recommend this resort.

Oh, and we had 3 towel animals which our DD was thrilled with! Mousekeeping would also arrange her little princess figurines for her each day!

Sheri-

Was the 45 min day on Sunday the 2nd?
I just got back and we waited for a MK bus for 45 mins too.
We had an 8:10 at O'Hana's - left our room at 7:15 - and was told by a couple at the bus stop that a bus had come by at 7:05.
At 7:55 we were finally picked up. My dsis even called Disney transportation on the phone at the bus stop..

We ended up being about 10 mins late for our ADR.

Other than that, our trip was wonderful. As soon as I get pics uploaded I will post them.
We stayed in Trinidad North building 34. Corner room right across from the water. Beautiful!

Yep, Sunday the 2nd! I think I got to the bus stop at 7:10 and never was picked up until almost 7:50. My ADR was for 8:15 !

I wish I knew how to upload pics! ANy tips?

Safetymom -- do you know anything about the Banana Cabana and if it will be relocated or expanded? It always has been very busy when I've been there.

You have to host the pic on a site first that is open to the internet. I use www.imageshack.us because i remember the name, but its slow and there are lots out there. Imageshack requires no sign up or anything though.

So go on there, host it (this involves finding it on your computer and uploading it), then do what you did above except use the link they provide you with. They actually provide a bunch of links, just copy and past the one for forums on here and it'll work :).

Good luck!

I haven't heard about Banana Cabana with the refurb. I will be sure to check it out once the main pool closes.

Hi everyone,

I just had to post this message somewhere and I thouhgt of all places, this thread would understand the most.

As many of you are probably aware, the mid-west got hit hard by several ice storms the past week or so. Our power was knocked out and we were forced to find shelter else where.
During this ordeal, we stayed at a variety of hotels, everything from a local roach-coach motel because we waited until the last minute to find a room, to one of the finest luxury hotels in the area.
As it turns out, we ended up settling for coming back home and sleeping in the absolute cold, (it was 42 degrees inside) instead of going back to any of the hotels we had tried.
The reason being, no other hotel lives up to disney's high quality standards!
They truly reach for excellency, and once you've stayed at even one of their economy hotels, anywhere else is a waste of good money! Mostly because Disney actually cares about their guests, and you can tell the diffence.
Our power was restored this afternoon, and one of the first things I wanted to do was tell the world how much I apperciate Disney's fine quality, and I sincerely hope that they NEVER change!
For anyone out there who isn't sure if staying on property is for them, please let me put your questions to rest.
YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH STAYING AT A DISNEY RESORT. 'NUF SAID!

We returned Saturday, the 14th, from two weeks at CBR. It was a great stay - resort was as peaceful as always, mousekeeping was fine, and the bus service was generally good, with a couple of small glitches. (Sharibrat, I think we may have been at the Jamaica bus stop at the same time on 12/2 - we had an 8:10 ADR at CP, and we spoke to a woman and her daughter who had an 8:15 ADR at CRT, and we were all getting worried about the MK bus. We made our ADR on time - glad to hear you did, too). The construction is well hidden by the screens and didn't affect the main pool, which was in full swing. There was a little construction noise during the day - some hammering and drilling and bulldozing and such - but it was only apparent if you were very close to or at the pool, and even at that, it wasn't especially distracting. We were in Jamaica and never heard anything. The quiet pool at Jamaica was nearly always deserted and a great place to hang out. The food court was busy at times, especially for breakfast, but never seemed overwhelmed. CM's were without exception friendly and accommodating. This is by far our favorite resort.

Yes, that was us at the bus stop! We were at the Jamaica bus stop and I recall watching you and your hubby walk to Crystal Palace! Wow, a two week stay! Glad you had a great time!
