Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

Ok, I am getting very nervous about our trip. I need someone to calm me down. I'm getting concerned about the beds. I have read one too many times about squeaky beds at CBR. DH and I value our sleep, especially on vacation when we are going to be walking a ton and then be exhausted in the evening. I'm worried about not being able to sleep for 9 nights. Someone please put me at ease. DH and I are used to sleeping in a big bed, so, we decided we would each sleep with one of the kids to ease up the space, but now the squeakiness is worrying me. Tell me that this is just a fluke and that not all the beds squeak!! Please someone?

We were in barbados, room 1104 (if I remember correctly) and our beds were perfect.

They seemed to be new-ish pillow top mattresses and they didn't squeak once. I actually commented to friends and family a few times about how comfortable the beds were.

so don't worry...they're not all bad :)

We came back a few weeks ago, staying in Martinique 2437, and our beds were perfect also. Absolutely no squeaking.

I think I'd like to send one of those coconuts to my DH's boss while we're there at CBR, and I was wondering how long it normally takes them to reach their destination? Do you think I should play it safe and have it FedExed?
Can I even do that?

they have priority mail stickers already on them...so I would guess you have to use USPS and it should take 2-3 days :)

DH and I are staying at CBR and arrive via AirTran next Saturday and our flight arrives at 5:30 in the afternoon using ME. My question is this...what have your experiences been timewise with your luggage being delivered to your room. Part of me wants to pick up our luggage at the airport and bring it with us. My DH doesn't think it is necessary and wants to just let the luggage people deliver it. Ultimately, will we be waiting and waiting for our luggage to arrive late into the eveing?

Our daughter flew into Orlando two days after we drove in. She used Magical Express and was at the Caribbean Beach Resort about 45 minutes after her plane landed (about 4:00 p.m.). We went to the Hoop Dee Doo Review and when we got back to the room, her luggage was there. So, all in all, it took about 3 1/2 hours for her luggage to arrive.

Enjoying this thread a lot! Can anyone tell me the advantage of having a preferred room? The cost would be $90 more for a 6 night stay in Feb. Is it worth it?? Is there a chance of being upgraded anyway?

Also--has anyone else heard about cheerleading groups being here in Feb?

Have a preferred room is all about location. If you don't mind walking further then just get a standard room.

The preferred location is usually quite full so there may be a chance for an upgrade but I wouldn't count on it.

We flew into MCO on Sept.8th. Our flight landed at 5:15pm. We made it to the resort by 7:20pm. Our luggage arrived at 11:10pm. I kept track of the time because I had noticed alot of people talking about how long it takes to get to your resort and then how long it takes to get your luggage. The last time we used ME we arrived at 6:30pm so we just grabbed our luggage. This time we decided to give the "magic" a chance. It worked just as it is supposed to concidering they say you will recieve your luggage up to 3 hours after you arrive at your resort. If you don't mind the waite it will be fine, for us with two young children we will collect our own luggage next time. From the looks of the transportation board the time frame we expierenced is pretty close to normal. Good luck and have a wonderful time!!

Thanks so much! This is exactly the proof I need to show DH. I have awesome "gut feels" and my gut is telling me to go fetch the luggage ourselves. :thumbsup2

re luggage
I would say it depends on what you're planning to do that evening. If you're just going to head out for dinner and then back to your room and to bed early, get your luggage yourself. We had to wait over 4 hours once and DD wanted her pajamas and wouldn't go to bed without them. I was not pleased with the service.

However, if you're going to check in and then head straight to the parks and close them down, come back to your room late, then "in theory" your bags should be waiting for you in your room.

Honestly, I have not decided what we are going to do for our upcoming trip. We get in midday so may not be able to get into our room. Either way we are heading straight to the parks, so I'm leaning toward letting ME handle our luggage, but I have a hard time letting go of that control after last time's experience. LOL.

Exactly. When we used ME on our Tanksgiving 2006 trip, we arrived MUCH earlier in the day and the ME system worked awesome. With the timing of our arrival next week, I would feel much much better getting the luggage ourselves especially since we are just sticking arounf CBR that evening.

No matter where I fly, I always pack carry-ons with supplies for our first 24 hours just in case the airline delays my luggage. I can't imagine packing my daughter's first night jammies in a checked suitcase; I would just feel so unprepared. So for me, DME luggage coming to my room 3 or 4 hours after me is no problemo, since I'm prepared for the first day, anyway.

It's because I travel with 2 small children that I love the DME luggage delivery service. I love not having to have my hands full with luggage. And by packing our carry-ons smartly, I am in total control of at least the first 24 hours.

We got ours very quickly.... however, the other family we went with didn't get theirs until several hours later -- theirs was an exception, but when they got back to their room later that night the luggage was there. I really liked DME, and the CBR staff really was efficient with both sets!

We will arrive at MCO at 12:25 pm, and figure we'll get to CBR shortly after. So, if by chance our room is ready, what time can we expect our bags to arrive? I will be carrying bags with 24 hrs worth of stuff just in case and swimming suits for the kids, but was just curious.

Figure you'll be at CBR by 2, so your bags will be there by about 5 or 6.

We are heading to CBR on Nov. 28th. The only problem is our flight doesn't land in Orlando until 11:18PM! Ugh.:sad2: I will bring some items with me in a carry on. However, my concern is are we going to check in, get to our rooms and have a knock on the door at 3am that our luggage is there?

This thread is loaded! Thanks for all the information eveyone!!! ;)

Flying in that late, I would definately get my own luggage. I don't think they will knock on your door at 3am, I'm just guessing, but I bet they will wait until morning. I wouldn't want to be waiting around in the morning for my luggage.
