We just returned from a very nice stay at the CBR. I was concerned about the size of the resort as the last moderate I stayed in was the POFQ and that is so compact.
The resort is huge, but very beautiful. We stayed in Aruba 55, we were not far from the bus stop and the quiet pool, but it was a good walk to Port Royal. We really did not mind the walk as the themeing of the resort is lovely. We always walked to the food court because we figured by the time we went to the bus stop for the internal bus and then the trip over to the food court we could have already been there by walking.
Housekeeping was great, we had towel animals almost everyday and it was just me and my 20 year old daughter in the room, my brother and his family had towel animals each day as well. The selection at the food court was pretty good and the food was good. We ate breakfast there and dinner a few nights as well. Our only complaint about the food court was the music, it was constant and kind of loud, so with all the people inside talking above the music it just got too noisy to sit and relax and eat.
We went to the main pool a few times and the kids loved it, my daughter and I went to the quiet pool one day to relax and this was very nice as well.
We used the buses as we only had a rental car one day to go to Sea World, and in general we were happy with the bus system.
The internal bus was a great way to get to the custom house which I had to do 4 times, once to get the shuttle to Alamo, a second time to get back from the MK one night, a third time to get my boarding pass for SW and then to get the ME bus back to the airport. The internal bus was great for this, I never had a long wait at all.
The buses to the park were great as well, since we had younger children (18 months and 4 years) we generally got to the parks later in the day and we almost always had a seat...coming back from the parks was another story, the resort had to have been filled to capacity, the lines for the bus when the parks closed were horrid, the buses came quickly but not one right after another like I have experienced at the Allstar resorts. One night they had charter buses taking guests from the MK after the park closed, at first we thought this would be great as these buses held more people, but the driver dropped us off at the custom house not at our building so then everyone had to then wait for the internal bus to go back to their buildings. To say that people were angry would be an understatement. But that really was the only bad part of our stay.
I would stay at the CBR again, the rooms were a nice size and again we loved the themeing.
