kinggoofy......glad to hear your trip was great!! That had to be so much fun with Hester!!!
Was your wife surprised?????
We loved POP...how would you compare...I have booked 2 rooms again at POP for our next trip, only cause the main pool at CBR is suppose to under refurb til June 08..that may be cutting it too close for us.
I was in the 60's bldg 4..close to everything..really liked it for a value!
Just interested in your opinion in how these 2 resorts compare....I know apples/oranges....just curious abt pros and cons.
Thanks in advance!!

Cindy'sMom......How did you like CBR compared to POP?

We had a great stay, partly due to our great location...and having 2 rooms we didnt feel crowded. It would be nice to have the coffeemaker and fridge inc tho....how was the walking around the resort to get to the food court etc...and buses?
Did you ever use the pool in your bldg area or just the main pool?
Thanks in advance!!

Personally, I've always preferred my village's quiet pool to the main pool. We usually had the quiet pool nearly to ourselves. They're much bigger than I would have imagined, also.

One night, it was nice to sit on the steps of Trinidad North's quiet pool (inside the pool, at the shallow end), watching the higher of the IllumiNations fireworks with one kid under each arm.

I still have a fondness for POP. POP is so exciting. CBR is beautiful, we had preferred location, so our walk wasn't too bad. Personally we don't use the quiet pools, we like the craziness of the big pool. If you aren't doing preferred location at CBR, you will have a lot of walking to do to get to food court, gift shop and main pool. The busses were great, no complaints, and not as crowded as they were at POP I must say.

I grew up doing road trips with my parents, and POP gives me the feeling of staying at one of those road side hotels (only much nicer), so POP is a bit nostaligic for me. (sounds wierd huh?) They are different hotels, is my summary. After our WL trip in July, I think our next trip will be a split stay of POP then CBR. I want DH to see CBR, he didn't come with us on this past trip. HTH

Thanks CindysMom...I know its not fair to compare apples/oranges...values/mods...:) With a 2 yr old in a stroller next year..I want to limit the walking...still considering doing a split stay with CBR....however, will not know if their main pool will be completed with the refurb by our trip!
So that may be our deciding factor...plus we want 2 rooms..other kids will be 14 and 11:) Unless we got an a pin/code and could 2 rooms at CBR...
Anyway...there is plenty of time to change my mind..again, and again!

I love the thought of "visiting" The Caribbean...albeit Disney...we won't need passports!!:)
Glad you had a great trip!

Okay, you are all making it sound sooo great I can hardly control myself. We are going to be at CBR the second week of May, our first stay at this resort. We're really excited about trying CBR as we've heard nothing but good things.

I forgot to add....while at POp, talked with a lifegueard, who works both POP and CBR. He told me he saw the sketches for the new pool at CBR...he said it was awesome, and with a zero depth entry! Again, this is heresay...but he appeared to be an upstanding college student, and he also stated how he loved CBR and how great it is and the new pool will be awesome!!
But can it be done in 6 months?????

Just took this pic about 1 1/2 weeks ago! I miss it so much! Beautiful sunset! :)

I keep reading that there is a curtain between the sink area and the room. Is there an actual door to the toilet?

Yes there is a curtain between the sink area and the room (values do not have this feature, but it doesn't stop us DISer's we just make our own with removable hooks and shower curtains from the dollar store) and YES there is an actual door to the toilet. :lmao: :lmao: I know Disney doesn't like us to spend much time in our rooms, they want us out there spending money, but even they have the decency to give a door to use the facilities. :lmao:

(I know what you mean, you meant was it all one "room" sink and toilet kinda set up, but I just had to poke a little fun) :goodvibes

I think I am about ready to absolutely BURST looking at these pics of CBR! I'm so excited now! I still cant decide which would be better : Aruba/Jamaica or Trinidad South? Any suggestions?

Subscribing... I am only on page 3! ;)

If you like the idea of being relatively isolated from the rest of the resort, and the prospect of an approximately half-mile walk to the food court doesn't scare you, then Trinidad South sounds great for you. Because of its relative isolation, some people call it "a resort within a resort."

Aruba and Jamaica are as close as you can get to the food court/mail pool without paying extra for a preferred location room.

Anyone have a picture of the playground by Jamaica? Silly, yes I know but DH has been asking about it...not for himself but for DD. ;)
Thanks!

Just returned last night from a 8 dayer at the CBR. We have stayed there many times before. This time we got Trinidad north, close walk to the Old Port Royale. The beds have new mattresses, and they are really nice. They also got new pillows! very comfy and full the way we like them. When we checked in the front desk was very cordial, took only about 15 minutes from the time we walked in to the time I walked out! very fast check in. Our room was spotless. I always check under the bed...(habit) there wasnt a spot on that carpeting. The bathroom was spotless as well. Mousekeeping was wonderful, we would leave little notes with there tips, we always left 5.00 per day, they did a wonderful job. The 3rd day, the lady cleaning the room left us 6 large towel animals on the bed with a note that said "for your house". They were so cute, there was a elephant, a rhino, cat, teddy bear, and a turkey. There were also little ducks left throughout the room, it was great! When I saw the lady the next day she asked if I got the animals, and I thanked her for them and told her she was so talented! She also thanked me for the tips we have been leaving her. So, now I have all these towel animals and I don't know what to do with them! I didnt however, like the new shampoo and soap. We always bring our own shampoo and soap, but we wanted to try the new stuff out since it was from H20 plus. We thought the shampoo smelled like a cross between lemons and stinky feet! seriously, it was bad, and it made my hair feel like straw. The soap wasnt much better..but we didnt care, we used our own stuff. I really think they changed water there, I know before it was soft water, but now I think its hard. My skin actually squeeked when I got out of the shower before it felt a little softer and maybe slimy. My whole family thought the same. Oh well, at least we were clean! The buses ran pretty consistant and never really had a problem when them. The food was good at the food court. Every day for breakfast my girls would have the mickey waffles with bacon (childs portion) and I would have cereal and a banana and yogurt, my hubby would have the breakfast sandwhich, no complaints here. We didnt eat many other meals there, we did have the chicken ceaser salad and the was excellent! All in all it was a very nice vacation.

I got back on Tuesday(3/20) from my first visit at CBR. I have to say that I was worried about all the negatives posted here, but it was fantastic. We were in room 1507 in Barbados. Very easy walk to Old Port Royale and close to the bus stop, pool, and beach. The room was super clean, beds were awesome, no issues what so ever. The resort was packed with teenagers. Cheerleaders, softball girls, baseball boys, and lacrosse teams. They were all super polite and caused no trouble. No cheering, no screaming. The buses were frequent, all the staff was friendly. I would definately stay there again.
