Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ's Part II

You might want to post this as a separate question on the resorts board. CBR is a beautiful and friendly resort. They don't have a tunnel slide. I have plenty of pictures on my website of the resort and pool.

Is friendliest a word :confused3? We are thinking of a quick trip in October and are looking at CBR or POFQ. I liked the size of POFQ and thought that the pool was nice for a 5 YO. Do you think that if we get a preferred room that the size of CBR would not be a detriment for us?

I was also trying to picture the theme and then determine if the main pool would be attractive for a little girl. She loves a slide, but not a "tunnel" slide like the POLY has.

Any advice you have would be appreciated.
At CBR, if you are relatively near Old Port Royale (food court, main pool, etc.) then the size of the rest of the resort makes no functional difference for you. We reserved a preferred location room, and were in Trinidad North 3340, about as far from OPR as you can get and still be in a preferred location. We were a good 5-minute walk to OPR with our 5 and 2.5 year olds. That is just maybe 1-minute longer than the walk from the farthest room at POFQ to POFQ's food court.

I stayed at both with our kids, loved both, but we truly prefer POFQ due to its compact size. And the pool is just great for pictures!!!

Thank you for your help.
Cleverocks, I always value your feedback on the POFQ thread. It is very hard to "see" the resort before booking so help from the "experts" is appreciated.

Safteymom- your pics are wonderful, I am a little jealous that you get to visit so often but appreciate that you share by posting new pics all of the time!

heading over to the resorts board for more info.....the planning and the choosing is half of the fun of the entire trip!

I see the main pool will be closed during our first stay there.......is that the only pool with a slide? that was a plus for us in deciding CBR. I'm bummed if that's it:sad1: .....

From what I've read here on this thread (haven't been there YET).....yes the main pool is the only one with a slide.

Sorry :sad1:

I had read that the CBR pool is in rehab until sometime in June, any confirmation and more news on this? I'm gonna be pretty ticked if I arrive on 6/27 and its closed like it was the last time we stayed there, that is a big draw to the CBR for my girls, grandson and I as it is for many families.

I just got off the phone with CBR. Aruba 51 (Smoking Optional Building) will be out of commission the last two weeks of this month to start the cleaning process. They do not know how long the building will be out of commission to clean all the smoking rooms.

At this time I believe the rehab is scheduled for Jan 2008-June 2008. Unless something has changed. I hope not because we arrive on 6-29. :yay:

Ugh. I really hope I get Jamaica then!

We havent made our requests yet- Think we should just request Jamaica instead of Aruba because of the smoking building? We don't smoke or have a preference but we don't want to end up not getting what we want because tons of people requested the same thing, ya know?

would it still be a good choice to stay at even with the pool refurb?? or should we look at POR or POFQ??

I saw that disney will make all rooms by June 2007 into non smoking rooms.
I have a prefered room booked. I dont even want a use to be smoking room!
Does anyone know what buildings were smoking rooms in the prefered locations.

There were no smoking rooms in the preferred villages. Aruba 51 was the only smoking building at CBR.

I keep reading about seeing the Epcot fireworks from the beach--which side of the lake? I can't quite get my bearing from the resort map link, since Disney never seems to oreint their maps with north at the top! [Why is that, anyway?!]

Looking at the resort map from Safetymom's link, which shows OPR at the top/center of the page, Aruba at the bottom/center of the page, and Trinidad "South" in the far upper right corner [which would be north/east on a "real" map!] where is Epcot? It seems like you couldn't see the fireworks from both sides of the lake--where is the best CBR beach to view Epcot?

Each village has 6 buildings (except Trinidad North, which has 3). Aruba 51 is just 1 of 6 Aruba buildings. Each building has 64 guest rooms.

I see. I read too fast and just saw Aruba. I figured all the Aruba buildings would be undergoing to "cleaning" process. My bad!

Have ressies for CBR sept. 21-30 for free dining. Our first trip to CBR was in Nov.06 and I can't wait to go back. Last trip I shipped a box of "goodies" to the resort via UPS prior to check in and it went really well. However, this time I was thinking of shipping 2 cases of water & some food thru gardengrocer, or some other online store. My question is, if you have water & groceries delivered to CBR will it come directly to your room or do you have to pickup at the custom house?? That's a long way to walk with cases of water!!!

You can arrange for Garden Grocer to deliver directly to you in your room. If you don't want to wait around for a delivery, you can ask them to simply deliver the stuff to Bell Services, which is located in the Custom House. Then Bell Services will leave a message for you, and when you get back, you'll call them and they'll deliver to you.

If you order from Gooding's (www.goodings.com), the ONLY way they do it is to deliver to Bell Services, etc.

Even if your crazy Uncle Eddie dropped off 2 cases of water for you at the ront desk, you could still get Bell Services to deliver it to your room. You're at a nice hotel, they have services to help you out.
