In reality Martinique 26 is the closest to the OPR building, and I believe Martinique 25 may even be a tad closer than Trinidad North 31. However, Trinidad 31 is probably half a hair closer to the main pool than Martinique 26. They're all great; preferred location is a great idea at CBR if being close to OPR is important to you. It takes the guesswork and stress out of the equation.

Thanks for the confirmation on bldg location. It is so hard to picture how things actually are based on a stylized map. Actually, I will be content with any preferred bldg because it looks like none is too far from OPR and each has its own highlights. Now I can continue waiting impatiently for 10/24 to get here pirate:

Safetymom,

Thanks so much for sharing that link. It is amazing to see all the detailed paths and landmarks. It is a great way to get familiar with the area. Great idea. Thanks so much we really enjoyed the view.Jim :thumbsup2

From one man to another, my apologies. I thought your name was a play on words -- I grew up with several girls named, believe it or not, Tzippa, and this was often Anglicized to Zippa.

Are there any tricks to the A/C at CBR to keep it running? I'm asking b/c my mom has some SERIOUS hot flashes and she sleeps where you could hang meat. Thanks

I have never had a problem with A/C units at CBR. They seem to run very well. Never had a problem with the room not being cold enough upon coming back to the room or sleeping at night.

Congratulations Zippa D Doodah!!!

Thanks, safetymom. After reading the whole thread I feel like I know you personally :teeth: Maybe the TF will take note :wave2:

Cleverocks, no problem.... I was just kidding you a bit. Have you noticed how we all tend to think DISers are female when gender is ambguous thru screen names and posts? Weird phenomenon. I read where you stayed at TN33. Looking at map and pix I am now thinking that bldg mught have its own charms. I am guessing quieter than 31, super close to bus stop.

As I was reading thru the 2007 UG, it mentioined how bus travel times are a lot longer f rom CBR to all parks excpet MK. For example, from CBR to Epcot is 37 minutes by bus and 18 minutes by car (according to UOG). There seemed to be similar great differences in travel to MGM, AK, and DtD. True? :confused3 We will have our van with us, but usually just park it and take the bus during our whole vacation. But if difference is really that great maybe we shoudl consider saddling up the van for travel to everywhere but MK. Any insights from anyone on this?

I can't believe it would take 37 mins from CBR to Epcot. Even the 18 mins by car sounds a long time. CBR is very close to MGM and Epcot. I wonder how they timed it?

Thanks for the input. Truth be told, riding the bus (errr... not driving) is part of the vacation. Unless it was a huge difference I'd just as soon not see my car keys until its time to drive back home.

I agree CBR to MGM is like 5 minutes once the bus stops at all of the stops in the resort, which maybe takes 7 minutes or so. It is a very fast trip. Epcot I would say is more like 8-10 minutes away.

I wonder if they factor in waiting time for the bus?

I wonder, too. I don't think we spent more than 15-20 mins TOPS on a bus, even with resort stops, when going to MGM or Epcot. MK was maybe 20-25 mins total, TOPS.

There is such Great CBR info here! :thumbsup2

I think UOG calculates "door to door", so that would include waiting time, walking time etc. I won't be glancing at my watch too much. I try to adopt a pretty carefree attitude once at WDW. I do all my hairsplitting and figuring on the DIS before I go :teeth:

We just got back on the 26th. The bus service at CBR was very good. We rented a car like always but on our first morning I decided to take the bus to the MK to avoid the parking lot and the TTC. Well, that was our first time using the bus and we loved it. DH did not want to drive after that. The only time we used the rental was when we were running late for our dinner ADR at EPCOT and for DTD. We decided we will probably not rent a car next time.

Back from Caribbean Beach 08/27 - 09/01 - Great Resort

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks to everyone who helped with questions about our upcoming trip!
The CBR was very nice. Mousekeeping was great. Stayed in Jamaica Bldg. 45 - Perfect location, close to the bridge + bus stop.
The bus service was excellent - except for trying to get to Beach Club for breakfast and then on to DTD.
The crowds weren't too bad - recommend using the FP as much as possible.
I only used the GAC about 6 times & had no problems with any CM.

Recommend the Kona Cafe for dinner. Teriyaki beef steak was yummy.
Also the buffet breakfasts at Boma, Crystal Palace and Cape May Cafe were wonderful.
I didn't like the hamburgers or hot dogs through out the parks. Tried hard to find counter service that served "Grilled vegetable sandwich". ( Much better)
For everyone heading to the CBR.... try a Pina Colava at the Banana Cabana...very yummy!
Thanks again!
Sage

Just back from...
4 nights @ CSR
1 (supposed to be 4) @ the Swan
5 (supposed to be 2) @ CBR

The CBR is our home away from home and it didn't feel right til we were there.

CSR didn't match up to CBR!

Swan was VERY disappointing.

I stayed at CBR in 2005 and I loved it but was thinking of trying CSR for my next trip, just to try something new. I am curious to know what you did not like about CSR when comparing it to CBR?

TIA,

Loralie
