SafetyMom, can you give me more info on your thoughts about the water view rooms being a waste of money?? I just made reservations for a preferred water view room and the way the person talked about it, that pretty much put me in either Trinidad N or Martinique, which is where I want to be. I just was looking throught this thread and saw your note, so was just curious.

I think what Safteymom means is that with the balconies or patios, having a waterview room just means walking out of your door and seeing the water. The beaches is pretty far from the room. Unless you keep your windows open all the time, then you wouldn't be able to see the water. You will pass by it eveyday to get to the food court. I think Safteymom tries to help everyone save a little money. Ask for a courtyard view room and request the building you want, and that way you won't be seeing the parking lot. I also thought that at one point of time you would be paying extra to stay in Trinidad N or Martinique, but maybe Disney didn't do that after all.

We just made a reservation at CBR and it is $10/night more for Martinique and Trinidad North.

Yep, just called to confirm my ressies at CBR and the preferred status/cost is for the building Trinidad N or Martinique, not the view. :smooth:

That is correct. There are three different additional charges to the room rate.

One is for water view, or king bed. or a preferred building in Trinidad North or Martinique.

In my opinion I would rather pay for a preferred building before a water view. Since the resort doesn't have private balconies it is hard to see the water from your room. If you keep your curtains open all the time it may be worth it but we don't because we feel like we are in a fishbowl with everyone looking in.

Save the extra money and buy a nice dinner or two.

Hi - I just got back from CBR and had requested Martinique and a waterview. What I got was Bldg 26 and a lovely courtyard view. I was a bit disappointed but within 15 minutes I adjusted and thoroughly enjoyed the courtyard view. Believe me if being close to the food court and pool is your desire - definitely pay the extra for Martinique and Trinidad N. My walk was only 5 minutes max to those areas! I was on the second floor and must have done those stairs about 50 times so if you don't like stairs - ask for first floor. CBR was so relaxing and quiet - in the past I've always stayed at Surf's Up. As for a waterview - the only advantage I see is if you're kids are going to go play on the beach you might be in yelling distance of seeing them. My niece & I just made it a daily trip to lay on the beach and soak up the sun which turned out fine. I'm planning to go back and CBR is my new "home" resort. Enjoy!

We just booked our vacation to CBR for this July. We will be driving. WE have 3 small kids (and 2 strollers) so for convenience we may end up driving to the parks instead of taking the bus. Does anyone know what buildings have parking close to them? I can't tell from the map where the parking lots are? Thank you.

Safetymom,
We're already booked cbr for May. Waiting on the codes to come out before I call back. We didn't get any kind of discount (about 144 nightly). Been watching for room only/AP codes. Hence my question -
Do I go ahead and call back now and request a room at Martinique or Trinidad N (I know theres an added fee), or Jamaica.
And also request coffeemaker, iron, ironing board etc. or do I wait til the codes come out and do it all at once?
We're doing the double digit dance so I don't want to chance
missing everything!

And it seems like I read somewhere that you or someone had favorite rooms - anyone want to list one and tell why?

Minnie, Minnie Thanks for the Help!

Book everything now. When the codes come out, you can easily call back and have the codes applied to the reservation. Make all your request to the reservationist, and they will notate it for you. All of your request may not be met, but I have never had a time when they have not

Coffee pots, full size ironing boards and irons are already in the rooms. No need to request.

I would have your requests noted in the reservation now and when or if you change make sure they are still there.

I have a reservation at Contemporarys Chef Mickeys for Breakfast at 9:30am. Do i get the shuttle to TTC and then the monorail? Anyone know how long this will take?:wave2:

skip the TTC...that will take longer...
we made it to chef mickeys for 8am once.
take a bus to magic kingdom .....though magic kingdom may open at 9 or 10 u can still grab a bus to there earlier than opening...

from magic kingdom either:

jump on a monorail to contemporary like we did
or walk over.

Monorail from magic kingdom= 3 minutes or so hoping there is a rail there waiting when u get off bus. Nornally there is cause it is a slow time for transport The monorail will also be functioning ealier than opening.Jump on monorail and get off at contemporary...1st stop

walk over = 10 - 15 minutes...

either way as long as you leave the resort by 830ish at the latest either of these 2 ways will get u there on time.

If you are a few minutes late the PS is actually held for you for 15 minutes past when u are supposed to be there. We learned this little tid bit the hard way. We walked up like 3 minutes late to somewhere and apologized profucely for being late and the CM said "you shouldn't have run, you do know your ressie is held for 15 minutes after the requested time, we arent just gonna throw it out cause u are a couple minutes late.....blah blah...
cheers

Sandymac,

We just returned from the CBR. Had a wonderful time!! We've always been put in Jamaica before (and loved it), we got Aruba this time. We booked standard view (i.e. parking lot view) and could get to our car in under a minute, fully loaded. All the 'islands' have parking lots, and the standard views are those closest to them.

If you are interested in walking to Old Port Royale, you'll have no trouble. We seemed to be a long way from it (as we usually are in Jamaica), but it took no time at all. The only time I had trouble was last Saturday night (Valentine's Day). We came back from a dressy dinner, changed, and I wanted to go get a drink/more dessert. Since it was nice and warm during the day, I put back on shorts and a t-shirt. Being a native Floridian, I was not prepared for the drizzling/freezing/very windy walk over there!! Oh, man! Note to self: check weather before going out!!

The only islands I don't recommend (too far away for me) would be Barbados and Trinidad South. Any of the other four will be fantastic!!

Hi there,

We are going to CBR for a week in March and will like some advice on the following:

1. Is there a grocery shop in CBR? What do they have generally and how is the price compared to shopping outside WDW?

2. We have 2 young kids and will be flying to Orlando, hence we will not want to fill our luggage with diapers if possible. Is there any place in or near WDW which we can buy those stuff (if we do not drive)?

3. If we are driving from airport to CBR, which is the best place for grocery stop? We are probably buying diapers, beverages, baby food

4. Understand CBR is pretty huge and there are many bus stops...anyone knows where is the first stop and the last? Are the bus service efficient...i mean is the service frequent and any problem in finding seats?

Thanks !!!

Hi. This is a great forum! I have read every page and am very excited for our stay at CBR.

We have reservations for November, when the weather may or may not be warm. Does the CBR keep it's pools nice and warm? Just wondering if we can expect to swim without freezing in the off-season. Thanks.

Set2go,Pools are heated to 82 degrees. For most northerners that is warm. If you are from a warm climate it may not be.

Welcome to the DIS boards.

Siew, there is a little market in CBR. It has the essentials. You might want to stop at a grocery store for diapers.

I would suggest you read this thread because it has answers to all the questions that you asked. Start from the back and work your way forward and you will find recent trip reports as well.

Thank you so much for the prompt reply. I'm from NJ, so 82 sounds warm to me (and will certainly be warm enough for my kids).

I can't wait until November.....
