Hey, Everyone! What an awesome thread....my mind is made up....I am heading to the CBR for my May 2004 trip!!!

I am soooo EXCITED!!! I have never stayed on property, and I am absolute Disney fanatic!!! I do appreciate all the wonderful tips everyone had to share and of course the spectacular family trip photos...great stuff!!!

WDW here I come....I still have a ways until my trip....but each day that passes means a day closer!

No mini bars in the rooms anymore. I am not sure about the view you get with a King room. They are scattered all over the resort. You will enjoy CBR.

Thanks safetymom for the speedy reply. :D

iluvwdw_2002-You will love CBR. It is my favorite moderate resort. It is so beautiful and peaceful! To me take me to the islands.

I know that I saw something about them but I cannot find the info now that I need it! Does anyone know what size the ref is? Can it hold a full gallon of milk? Also, Does the room have coffiemakers? Hairdryers? I am leaving in 8 days and I am starting to panic! Breath deep....... I have begun to pack already and I am enjoying every minute! Thanks to all for your help.:Pinkbounc :smooth:

brendaroo , there are no refrigerators in the room. The coffee pots are 4 cups. Someone reported that WDW was installing hair dryers, irons and ironing boards in all the rooms now.

Hulabird - thanks for the link to your pictures - it was just what I need this morning when I started my 127 days before. You took some excellent photos!! Thanks again.

brendaroo,

I just returned on 9/13. We stayed in Jamaica...there was a hairdryer and Iron/ironing board installed in our room. Have a great trip...it is a wonderful resort!

Thanks for your reply's. I realize that the ref in room cost extra so I should have explained my question better. I am trying to decide if the ref is worth paying $10.00 a day for. My DH says he does not want to pay if we still need coolers to hold a gallon of milk. Anyone know the size of the rental refrig?
It is great about the ironing board & hair Dryers. :Pinkbounc :smooth: 7 days left!!!!

I realize you are trying to find out the size of the fridge and if it is worth spending 10 extra a day for the fridge. Just and idea.... but have you thought about purchasing a refillable mug for I believe close to the same price and it can be refilled as many times as wanted or needed. Just a thought!

I had thought about bringing coffee for the coffee pot, but we are going to get the refillable mugs so I don't need to bring coffee.

Have a great time.

I bring a Black and Decker "cup-at-a-time" coffee maker with me sometimes. It makes a REAL cup of coffee or you can use it for Tea.;) I HATE the Coffee in WDW, so I will bring it this trip in case I am far from the Food Court Area.:o

Brendaroo, if you have access to a car or have a grocery stop, I'd pick up a styrofoam cooler and fill it with ice from the hotel for drinks. We did this and it worked great! We saw the frig's and they are the tiny tiny cube sized ones, not worth the $ in my humble opinion!

dsnylndmom- thanks, You answered my question, Too small for the $. It would be a total of $70.00 for our trip and I can think of other things to use the money for.....A NICE dinner perhaps?

mickeycrazie- Yes we do use the refillable mugs for soft drinks but we were planning on eating breakfast in our room to save$ and wanted to keep a gallon of milk in the room. We are both milk drinkers and I wanted to be able to eat a leisurely breakfast without dressing & running to the food court for a glass of milk.
We will most likely do the cooler thing. It seems to be the best solution and I would be bringing one from home for the 18 hour road trip anyway. (hubby hates to fly so we will have a car)Thanks for the reply.

I do not remember if I like the coffee or not, but I would like to relax (no kids this time) and not have to walk for coffee... We do not know for sure how close we will be to the food court. I can be quite frightening without my morning coffee. Maybe I will pack my own small coffeepot. :smooth: :Pinkbounc

No need to pack a coffee pot, there is one in the room. They also supply you with coffee.

Oh, thats right I forgot! Thanks Safetymom.;) I will just bring my own coffee.:o

I'm taking my parents on there first trip to WDW in January. It's a gift for their 40th year and 5 month Wedding Anniversary.

We had chosen a few places onsite, but when I said we had to narrow it down to CSR and CBR. We got out the WDW planning DVD and looked at the two resorts. Dad got excited over CBR and said "I'd kinda like to stay where they had the steel drums and sailboats". Yes, that's excited, at least for my Dad! LOL

So, we've booked preferred rooms at CBR. I don't mind paying the extra, because Mom just had both knees replace a year ago, so we're trying to cut down as much as possible on the walking. She wants to try to do it without an ECV, so our our Travel Agent put a request for a first floor room on our reservation. Would I still be able to ask at check in for a a room close to OPR or would it be better to put it on the fax of room requests?

Also, which buildings will be the preferred buildings? I know that Trinadad North will be preferred, but will all of Martinque be preferred or just the three closest?

Thanks,

If you have paid for preferred buildings then you shouldn't have any problems getting the closest building to OPR. You should ask for Martinique because it is closer than Trinidad North to OPR.

They are very good especially for those having a hard time walking at granting your requests. I would have it noted in your reservation but mention it again when you check in.

No need to fax then.

Thanks for the helpful, informative thread, safetymom. And thanks too for the pictures, hulabird and safetymom. :):)

I've never stayed onsite before, and I'm seriously considering staying at a couple onsite resorts in late 2004. At first I'd thought that if I ever stayed at a moderate, I'd want to try POR. However, I thought they may be refurbishing or close to around that time, so I began looking at CBR. The more I "look," the more I'm thinking I'd prefer it for part of this upcoming trip.

Having said that...it's been awhile since I've looked through your pictures safetymom, and I can't recall...do you (or anyone reading ;)) have some pictures of Trinidad South? I'm interested in knowing the color scheme of that particular village. Is it pretty and "easy" on the eyes? Is it as beautifully landscaped as the more "popular" villages? It seems that many here prefer to stay anywhere in CBR but Trinidad South, saying it is just too isolated from the rest of the resort and too long of a walk. However, it will be just my spouse and I, and I would actually prefer to not be in the center of everything. And since special requests are just that: requests, and not guaranteed, what would be a good "second choice" for a couple wanting a "quieter", i.e. more "away from the busyness" location???

Also, I've read that rates are increasing at CBR for "preferred location." If I decide to book the CBR, I will want to pay the additional $$$ for a King. I was curious if one wanted a King in a preferred location, if there would be an additional charge for each of those options, or if a person paying for a King (since as I've read here they are scattered throughout the resort) might (and I stress, might) get placed in a preferred village based on the King reservation alone? Jus' wonderin'.

Oh, and one more question for now: Are there some pretty, "private" places to sit and just chat/enjoy? Any hammocks and beach areas and quiet pools that seem to be frequented less than the others? We like people (including kids of all ages :)) fine ;); the reason I'm asking is that we'll be celebrating an anniversary among other things, and I would want to be able to just relax and enjoying "soaking in" the resort with my spouse a bit. :)

Thanks,

flaps

there was...Iron/ironing board installed in our room.

Glad to hear this, as I would likely want an ironing board in the room. :)
