Banana Cabana outside Old Port Royale for the drinks!!! It is a great bar.

The handicapped rooms are scattered around the resort. I am sure there are some in every building.

1. DH likes to have a relaxing post-park alcoholic drink at the end of the day. I know CBR doesn't have a Lounge like PO-R, so where could he get this and up until what time at night? This would be in Nov.
There is an outdoor bar located right next to the main pool. We frequented often;) We would take the kids to the main pool and switch off in the pool with the kids while the other relaxing by the pool with a frothy beverage. We also would take a tray of drinks back to the quiet pool by our room or by the beach next to our room and relaxed on the hammocks while the kids played in the sand and on the playground. It was wonderful.

I am heading to CBR on 9/24. It's my first time staying in the park. My husband and 3 year old girl will be will me. Jamacia Building 45. Should I go on the other side of the lake? I want a playground close by.
HELP?

There are several playgrounds scattered around CBR. There is one by Jamaica. If you look at the CBR map on my website you can see where they are located. With the beaches I am sure your child will have fun playing.

We just returned from a 8 day stay at CBR. While we were there the maintenance crew at CBR were installing hair dryers, full size ironing boards and irons in each room. Ours were done when we returned from MGM studios!! Nice not having to lug that stuff from home.

It's great to hear that they are still improving the CBR. I love it there and hope to visit again during our next trip.

There are pictures of the Jamaica part of the resort on my website listed below. The interior of the rooms are all the same across the resort.

Just came back from CBR last night & wanted to mention a few things: stayed in Jamaica 45 & wish we were in Martinique or Trinidad North because of the long walk over the bridge.....the staff was wonderful....great mousekeeping, real nice folks working in gift shop & food court, wonderful girl named Tammy in Custom House.....no shortage on employees....transportation was a problem all week.....waited quite long for buses, especially when DD was involved....waited 40 minutes one time & we were 1st stop....by the time all 7 stops were picked up, it was jammed on bus....but, you take the good with the bad.....food court food excellent.....pool really fun for kids.....room very clean.....I don't want to sound critical....just stating the facts.....most of the time we were just having a great vacation & didn't want to leave.....any questions, please ask....I love talking about disney & the CBR!

I have not been to Disney World for almost 10 years. Are there any recommendations as to where in the CBR is the best place to stay.
Can you request a building/room before you arrive?

dynes,

I am by no means an expert-as I have not been in Disney in over 15 years (yikes!!!). But I do know that you can fax your room requests 4 days prior to your arrival. As a matter of fact I arrive on Saturday, and will be sending my request today. There is no guarantee that you will be granted your request. You can go to www.wdwig.com and find a template for your letter of request. The fax number for the CBR is 407-934-3288.

As for what area is best-it depends on who you talk to. Some areas (Aruba and Jamaica) are across the lake from the main pool, food court, etc-and from what I understand it is a bit of a walk. But the plus is that they are quieter. It all depends on your personal preference. If you click on the links to SafetyMom's pictures you will find a map of CBR.

Hope that helps-enjoy your trip!

Dynes, I suggest you look through the CBR FAQ thread for more info about CBR If you want to be by the food court then request Martinique or Trinidad North. If you are going in 2004 those will be preferred locations which require an additional nightly $15 charge.

Hi everyone!! Just back from CBR after a week long stay. Thought I would post some info for anyone who is interested. I already posted about my check in experience on the Resort board so I will skip that and get onto the GOOD stuff!!

The Room: We were in Jamaica 45 and had a corner room with two beds and a water view of the bay. I love the decor of the room. The carpets and green with a fern design and the bedspreads are tropical colors with hidden mickeys, which is also the same design as the shower curtain. We had a picture of the Disney cruise ship in our room docked in St. Thomas and the view of it was almost exactly the view my husband and I had from our honeymoon suite on St. Thomas so that was kind of cool. The furniture is done in a moss green which is very soothing. The curtain that divides the sinks and closet from the bedroom was the best idea I have seen in a long time. It turned the are into a nice dressing area with plenty of privacy. The beds were very comfortable. The only thing that wasnt perfect was the fish border they have around the top of the wall. It clashed with the soothing colors of the room. The room was big and seemed bigger to me than the one we stayed at in the AKL.

Location: I had requested Martinque or Trinidad N, but I was very happy with Jamaica. It was only about a 7 minute walk and my kids are nature nuts so they loved it. The bridge you cross before you get to Old Port Royale always had plenty of fish, turtles and birds. They had a great time feeding the curlews. There was also a great blue heron who was always there with a baby. I guess if you hate to walk you would not like it, but it was relaxing and I was glad to be away from the main hustle and bustle area. The grounds are landscaped beautifully and there are plenty of palm trees.

Food Court: We loved the food court, I know it gets mixed reviews but I felt the price and selection were very good. The only area that needs work is the dessert selection. All they have is prepackaged desserts in the grab and go area which did not look very appetizing and were expensive--$4.00 for a piece of carrot cake. My suggestion is to go into the store and in the back they have Disney goodies. We bought a box of the chocolate covered coconut mickies for 6.50 and had them for dessert for a few nights. They also have ice cream in a freezer in the grab and go section. We had mickey waffles for breakfast a lot and my husband would get the kids breakfast plate, which was plenty for him and cheaper than the regular one. The rotissere chicken was very good also and was enough for two people. The pizza was also excellent.

We did not use the busses because we always rent a car. We were literally a one minute drive to MGM and about 2 minutes from Epcot. I hate waiting for busses when I know I can be there so quick in the car.

I would love to answer any questions anyone has. It is a great resort and my kids really loved it

We just returned from a wonderful 1st trip to WDW. CBR was great. Check in was a breeze:D We stayed in Jamaica 41 2nd floor. We could have our choice of rooms, however, we checked in at 7:30 AM after a 16 hour drive and my husband wanted a room available to get settled. I wanted Jamaica 45 but rooms would not be available until later that day. You see he won!:bounce: The rooms were much larger than I expected it. Mousekeeping was great.our room was clean. Iron, iron board and hairdryer were already available. The quiet pool and main pool were enjoyed by all. We ate at Shutters, great waitress, food was okay. Probably won't return. We had salad, scallops, island chicken wings, burger and fries, and chicken strips and fries. My husband ordered the pork tenderloin with green beans and mashed sweet potato..he thought was okay. Overall, definitely will stay again. THANKS SAFETY MOM!!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Glad to hear that you had a great time. I have never tried the restaurant so thanks for the report.

My husband and I will be at the CBR from Jan 9 to 17th 2004.

My husband likes to sail. Does anyone know what type of sailboats they have at CBR and what the rental cost is?

Thank you

Off the top of my head I don't know what the cost is but I have a photo of the sign at the CBR marina with the rental costs. The link to my website is listed below.

We are requesting Aruba or Jamaica for our January stay.

Other requests are non smoking, first floor.

We would like to be relatively central to pool, beach, laundry and bus stops, and we would like our room to open onto on of the courtyards with table and chairs...

Which buildings would fill this criteria?

Thank you

Hi all - Thanks so much for this thread!!! I'm going in January 2004 - Jan 22-27. I was wondering how you all get the Bldgs/specifics you want? My reservation is through Dreams Unlimited but I'm willing to call or fax before I leave if that might help me getting a nonsmoking, corner room very close to OPR. It sounds like Martinique or Trinidad N is the preferred bldgs. Is that so???

Could I get some advice on how to get my preferences??? In the past I've let Dreams handle it and barely got what I wanted.

Also - it sounds like half of you use the buses and half of you rent a car. In January will the buses be bad you think? I was able to take All Stars buses but CBR has so many more stops.

Any and all tips are greatly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance!!
Ely
