Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ

Yes there are free ice machines in every building. My web server is not working but I do have a map that they give you showing locations of a lot of things at CBR. Keep checking my site while I try to get them to fix the problem.

I agree completely! At least with the preferred buildings, you are paying for something you actually use, like the shorter walks to the food court. We never opened the blinds all the way anyway with people walking by your room at all hours.

$10-$15 isn't too bad. It's still less than a deluxe.

I really like the idea of staying at Martinique again next year but I'm trying to decide if it will be worth it to pay the extra charge or just be prepared to walk further to fill my mug. Thanks!

It's $15 per night. Rack rate for the regular season, standard room is $159.

I just called the other day and changed my reservation from a standard room to a preferred room. I am staying Feb 27-March 6th. I was told the preferred rooms are the same rate as the water views. My original room rate was $169 + tax. My new room rate is $194 + tax. I asked about AAA discounts or AP discounts. He said neither was out at this time. He thought they would have them available later on. He said to check back around January for the AP rates and see if they had them. So, I am hoping something comes up to help with the cost.

wow -- no offense but i wouldn't pay ~$200/night to stay at a wdw moderate!

I think very few people pay rack rate for rooms. If it is about $200 for a moderate I am sure the deluxes would be a lot more.

Yes the cost is the same as a water view for a preferred building. At least I see value in the preferred buildings.

I don't plan on paying $200 a night for a preferred room. I am waiting, hopefully, for a AP rate or at least an AAA rate. If nothing comes available I may have to switch to ASMO, which I have been to twice and my small kids would love. I was just hoping to try something different this time. So, I hope some better rates come out.

We were just there in March and paid $106 per night and we were at Trinidad North 31...great bldg BTW!

WOW is right!! We were there late April/Early May and paid about $120.00 per night. We were in Trinidad North, Building #33. We loved it. Great location.

....Is there a way to purchase room decor items like the shower curtain, bed spread, and most importantly..the Disney Cruise line framed photo on the wall. My wife and I took our honeymoon on the dcl, and would love that same print for our house. If you have any ideas...let me know!! Thanks!

I was just wondering if anyone had an answer to this question Tigg2418 asked a few posts back. I haven't seen the picture in person yet (I saw it on someone's website) but I really like it and would be interested to know if it's available for purchase somewhere.

safetymom ~ You mentioned that your DD was in the Disney College program. Sounds interesting. Can you tell me what that's about?

This thread has made me even more excited about my CBR stay Aug 6-9! The past few trips to WDW were with my mom and two little brothers. We stayed at CR and POFQ (twice because we loved it:) and each time I faxed in a room request. This time it will be just my husband and me and I can't decide if I should send a request or not. Is there any "bad" place to stay at CBR? We don't really care if we're right next to the pool or food court and we'll have a car with us so the transportation isn't an issue. I'm just looking forward to some quality time with my hubby!!!(He's in the Air Force and even though he hasn't been deployed this summer we haven't lived together for over 3 months due to extensive pilot training) Any input?

Years ago I used to fax in requests at CBR. When we ask at check in now they grant all our requests so I don't see the need to fax ahead of time.

If they put you in Trinidad South, which is the furthest away you could always ask for another location at check in.

CBR is a great resort no matter where you stay. If you read through the FAQ's you will see others that can recommend buildings if you don't care if you are close to the food court and pool.

We just got back from a week at CBR. Although I had requested Martinique when I made our reservations, we got "assigned" to Jamaica. When I first saw how long the walk to the food court was, I was a little disappointed that I hadn't been assertive enough to insist on Martinique. After a day or two though, I realized there was a BIG advantage. Jamaica was the first bus stop for AK, MK and MGM. Which meant we were first on, and first off. We always knew we would get a seat! The EPCOT bus came in the main entrance, so they stopped at the Port Royal stop first (or was it the second).

There's also an internal bus to take you from one section to another. I suppose if you have kids and you're planning on eating in the food court frequently, a closer area would be better. (As I say, I don't have kids, I have adults now!) Also the main pool is near Port Royal. But walking wasn't really a big deal.

Any questions, feel free to ask!

CBR was beautiful. (hopefully pictures will follow)

My DH and 2yr. DS will be staying at CBR 9/20 - 9/27, I read something on the boards about a counter with a toster and microwave are these for anyone to use?

Yes there is a toaster and microwave that anyone can use on the counter behind the beverage bar.

Thanks so much safetymom for your fast reply. This message board is great, I have received a lot of helpful information.:D

You are welcome. I meant to add that the toaster and microwave are on the counter behind the beverage bar in the food court.

We just got back from CBR last Thursday. I have a few comments and tips.

We have always stayed at the All-Stars (ASMo & ASMu) so this was a little different for us. Custom House (where you check in) seemed a little dark and depressing to me. I expected bright tropical colors, but there wasn't much color there, except for a few paintings on the walls.

The main pool was much smaller than I thought it was going to be. DS went down the slide a few times and then we went to the quiet pool in our village.

We stayed in Martinique 26. I would suggest requesting the first floor. We were on the second floor and it was a pain trying to find a stairway and then lugging our bags up. I can't imagine what a disaster it would be if there was ever a fire. It was like a maze.

We bought milk in the gift shop because it was a lot cheaper than the foodcourt. Beer is less there too.

I don't want to sound too negative because we really did have a good time. I'm just pointing out the few things that did bother me.

I liked the curtain that separates the sink area from the rest of the room.

The overall tropical feel of the resort was wonderful. It was really nice walking by the little beach to get to the the foodcourt and pool. We rented a surrey bike and rode around the resort once. DH and I aren't very athletic and it was quite a workout. LOL! The only thing I wished we would have done and didn't was take a walk over to the island. What's over there? Oh, and we also wanted to rent a water mouse, but never got the chance.

Zandy595 , there is walking paths around the island. They used to have birds in cages on the Island and they were nice to see.
