Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ

One of the things I like about CBR over CSR is the food court is right next to the main pool.
Totally agree with that!
I prefer CSR except for this. And my DD and DH prefer CBR over CSR in all other respects.

The times we've stayed at CBR, it has always been in Martinique or Trinadad North. Once they tried to give us South, and we really had to press them to give us "anything else!! anything but South!!" South is just too far from everything.

I am wondering how the food court is now?? since the remodel.

Does it seem to run smoother? I always disliked that you had to pay at each station.

Since the remodel you now pay at a central check out. When we were there in Feb. with the cheerleaders the food court was very crowded but was checked out quickly.

I have pictures of the new food court up on my web site. The beverage bar is right after you exit the checkouts.

Safetymom,

Quick question...do you only stay at this resort?
I am just curious. We have only stayed onsite once and it was at POR. We are planning a trip in Oct of 2004. Looking in to all the possible places to stay. My DH wants to stay at the cabins at FW.
You have so much info on CBR. Do they take 4 or 5 people per room?

Thanks..
Lisa

I have also stayed at POR several times, twice at CSR, twice at AS Music. I have also stayed at Courtyard by Marriott DTD, Courtyard by Marriott Little Lake Bryan.

When I come in at weird times and when I have free nights I stay at the Courtyard.

I can't begin to tell you how many times I have stayed at CBR. I have lost count. We just stayed there again in May. I was at CSR in June.

The rooms at CBR will only hold 4 people.

I do want to try other onsite properties but it seems when I go to book I always seem to get what I want at CBR. My daughter was in the Disney College program so we went down many times to visit. I was also lucky enough to go to WDW on business. :)

I will be moving to FL in several months so hope to try out more of the resorts.

The many times I have been at CBR in the last year we never had crowded beaches for Illuminations. We watched them from the Martinique beach and they were wonderful. You could hear the music from Epcot also.

hi, i have just extended our stay by one night and we are now staying for 7 nights, but had to go from King room to Standard view room.
Are all the standard rooms facing away from the water? or are some of that facing towards the lake or pool?

thanks.

I don't think you will be dissapointed in a regular view room. In any water view room that I have had it was not the greatest water view. You had to stand up, look behind that tree and then you could see the lake. It seemed a waste of money to me to have the water view. I have had them quite a few times but after the first 2 that I paid for the rest were free upgrades that were granted at check in. By the way we didn't request this in a fax. It was something they did just to be nice.

We have had standard view and even parking lot views that I thought were very nice. There is so much landscaping you couldn't see the cars in the parking lot.

You might want to see if you could get a courtyard view. Those are very nice and have tables and chairs right outside your room.

Safetymom,

We just got back a couple weeks ago from CBR. Your tips on finding a quiet room in Jamaica were right on. I faxed in my location request before we left and the room assigner was very accomodating. Our room overlooked the lake and was nice and tranquil! Thanks for the good advice!

Kim

SafetyMom,

Can you tell me about parking at the different areas? Are some parking lots farther from other buildings than lots are? I've requested Jamacia, Martinique and Trinadad North.

Thanks for your input.

You won't have a long walk from the parking lot at any of those areas. Parking lots are close to the buildings. Landscaping screens the parking lot also so if you have a room on the back side of the building it is hard to see the cars.

It's been a while for me... I'm hoping you can refresh my memory.

Do you know if the furniture is bolted down? LOL... promise I'm not stealing, :) but instead of paying extra for a king bed we were thinking of just moving the night table and pushing the two double beds together.

I am not sure but I don't think they are bolted down. I never tried. I hope someone else can answer your question.

It is on the other side of the lake from the food court and main pool. It isn't a bad walk. The closest buildings are Martinique and Trinidad North. They will be charging extra for those locations starting in January.

Do you know how much extra it will be for the preferred buildings?
I really like the idea of staying at Martinique again next year but I'm trying to decide if it will be worth it to pay the extra charge or just be prepared to walk further to fill my mug. Thanks!

I have heard $10-15 per night. I would rather pay for a preferred building than a water view.

Hi Safety Mom,

First of all I want to thank you for all the great information I have been getting from this thread, This will be our first trip to CBR. We have stayed on site at ASM and Contemporary in the past, plus multiple times off site. Embassy suites and Parc Corniche.

I was wondering about the Laundry facilities. Are they at each Bldg? Are they open at night? Not that Im sure I will even use them but it might make a diffence in how we pack.

Thanks again for all your help. Have a great day!

The laundry facilities are at each one of the quiet pools. I don't know why they wouldn't be open at night. We never had a wait to use the washer or dryers. It is a great way to do laundry, you get to lounge by the pool. :)

Are there any free ice machines at the CBR? if there are then are they in each island?
