I am so sorry for not looking through all of the pages. I did reread the first page hoping there was a link, but could not find it. Does anyone have a link to a map of the resort? I just booked a water view pirate room for June and wondering where in the resort they were likely located. Thanks

There is a map in the CBR Bus Routes thread.

Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ’s

CBR opened Oct. 1988. The resort is arranged around a 42 acre lake. The size of the resort is 200 acres and has 2,112 guest rooms.

Where can I find a map of CBR?

Hi,

I paide for my hotel (CBR) in full several months back. When I checked in last week they charged me another $22.00 for service charges  Is there anyone have the same situation as mine?

Thanks,
Lynn

They charged me when I checked in.

No, we didn't use it because we didn't bring our laptop. We were at the parks and drove around most of the time.

Did you use the internet? There would be a charge for that.

Soarinfan; unless it's pooring I wouldn't use the CBR vans or shuttle anyway. I use a powerchair myself and was informed it would not fit the vans (whereas my manual would). To be honest? You wait for the van, which can take some time when you don't arrive at the same time as others. In that time, I've always crossed the road from Custom House to Barbados and from there got to my room (trinidad north and martinique so far). Especially with a moterized aid it is not a long haul at all, and quicker than any van or internal resort shuttle option!

Talk to special services and they will take care of everything. Any problems after arriving? Let the CM's know! I have only ran into great CM's at front desk with very caring additude to attend to whatever need I might have.

About mousekeeping; there are better and less apples out there. We just came back from 13 nights/14 days. The first 10 we had a great person most of the days. She didn't only do her work properly, but left towelanimals, showed us how to make them, kept us supplied with all kinds of extras besides the known shampoo etc. and even regularly came by for some small talk. After the 10th day, she (and a lot of others) got reassigned to a different resort, due to lower room occupationcy levels at CBR.
The last days? Another mousekeeper and you could see it! We even had to ask for shampoo, allthough one would think that no bottles left would mean automatically getting new ones. I was in the room for 3 of the 4 times she was in there (sick :( ) and was not impressed, it was a quick quick get in and out. Didn't matter too much for us (last days anyway, don't make a mess), but did call about it, as I don't think that should be the standard. One thing that did stand out like a sore thumb; one of our towelanimals got taken away! Weird, weird, weird, when you count into the story that as far as I know that room was only excessed by mousekeeping on that day (was in the next room, with the connecting doors half shut).

During our stay the pool at Barbados got closed, it still was when we left on monday afternoon.

One question that has me wondering; has anyone ever stayed in an accessible room (themselves needing it or not, doesn't matter to me) other than in the preffered buildings? Reason I ask is because I had a bit of a strange stay at CBR. We were in a building with A LOT of people with mobility aids. Not 3 or 4, but as much as 9 at the same time. We've seen people come and go, but relatively a lot of chairs and ecv's. I've booked a standard room twice, and twice have gotten the building right next to OPR at either side (Trinidad North and Martinique). For me it could've been just luck, but my neighbours during this trip did make me wonder. Did they put all of us in building 26 to do us a favour with regards to the short distance to OPR, or are there more accessible rooms located there?

Our stay? Great, as expected. We had rooms 2619 and 2620, connecting rooms. 2620 has a roll in shower and therefor king bed. 2619 has 2 queen beds and is a corner room. For some it could be bothersome that these rooms are right across from one of the designated smoking areas. My (smoking) mom loved it. I don't deal with smoke well at all, but didn't have any problems at all when normally using the hallways. As said; we were in building 26 and therefor almost WITHIN OPR. Great!

Just like last time, the CM's were lovely. I was suprised by how many recognised me from last year. Nice to run into one specific CM, which gave me the oppertunity to learn that WDW indeed follows up after a kuddos mail and what had happened to his 3 other coworkers I also named in the mail (are now working at other resorts, incl. GF). A lot of the CM's kept popping up from all kinds of places to open doors, hold trays, help out with anything, even before I could ask for help or even show any hint of perhaps needing help. Must say; had a lot of this by others guest also, during this trip. :goodvibes Did notice a larger amount of managers out on the floor.

Just as at the parks, I did see quite some research going one and at some busstops there were signs on multiple days about them trying out different bus stopping/loading spots. The bus was a positive experience in the bigger picture. Never waited long, except for transportation to AK. That seemed to be the persisting thing during the 2 weeks. Some busses did get crowded early on, especially those to and fro MK and DTD during the last weekend (read; great discounts on specific merchandise :thumbsup2 )

The concierge desk at OPR got my thumbs up. We wanted a couple of hard-to-get ADR's. Unfortunately my travelparty didn't listen to my story about the need to start planning 180 days out and there being one very picky eater in the group. The CM's got me Akershuys, Chef Mickeys, Cristal Palace and Le Cellier at reasonable times (for instance 5.30pm at Chef Mickeys). Funny thing is; I would call Disney Dining first; nothing. Got myself right over to the desk, and sure enough, time after time they would be able to get it for me. Some took a couple of times, but I could never get anything by phone and concierge could.

I had the unfortunate streak of being sick the whole time down there. Again a lot of empathy from cm's and some great pixie dust. Our bus to the airport wasn't scheduled to leave until 5.30 pm. Great, hours and hours you can spend in the parks!!! :) A bit less great if you know check out is at 11 am, or sometimes at the latest at 1 pm, and you are longing for rest, a bed and private restroom within the hour of leaving the room. So I informed about the possibilities for a late check out and it's costs. They checked up on it, the room wouldn't be needed until the day after. So a short talk to the manager on duty later, they activated my ressie so I could be in the room until I had to go to the DME. When asking about the rate, I was told there was none; I had paid enough by now, just get better soon. :wizard:

The new pool is great, as said so many times before!! The refurb has done good. The rooms look fresher, cleaner and the new carpet was lovely. One minor thing are the smaller closets. Maybe it is just my imagination, but I had the constant feeling I could store a significant amount of clothes and souvenirs less. DID like them removing the bench in the room with roll in shower. I had one in my room at Trinidad North last year. Now without one, it was a lot easier to make all kinds of 360 degrees turns with my powerchair.

We just got back! We had a great time. Overall, I was very happy with CBR.

We asked for connecting rooms, which we didn't get. We did get 'adjoining' (next door to each other rooms). It was okay, though connecting would have been much better as we had small children and probably would have gotten the grandparents to watch them more nights if they could have just stayed in their room whiel the kids slept in ours.

We were in Trinidad North, Building 31, room 3113. For us, this was the best possible building. The main pool is on the Trinidad north side of Old Port Royale, so, we were extremely close to the main pool. In fact, we were closer to the main pool than the quiet pool (which for trinidad north is on one side, rather than in the middle of a group). The only better room for me would have been one on the OPR side of building 31, whereas we were on the far side, which mean like a 30 second longer walk to the pool. We weren't interested in the quiet pool anyway.

The main pool was a huuuge hit. My kids (3 & 5) consider it 'the water park' and that was what they wanted to do every day. The kiddie water park area with 1 foot deep water, little slides, fountains and a big bucket that dumps water on everyone every 2 minutes was lots of fun. It's pretty much a slightly smaller version of the area you'd find at any water park aimed at hte little ones who can't go on the bigger slides.

The main pool had two slides. The small slide had a small tunnel (but not long enough to be dark, and a slight turn, my kids were willing to go down it with lifejackets (provided complimentary) and us at the bottom to catch. The lifeguards were okay with us standing at the bottom catching. The big slide was too much for my 3 & 5 year old (who refuse to get their faces wet), but might be okay for a braver 5+ - this one was actually fun for us as adults, it was a tunnel with a few twists and turns. No height requirements that I saw and the small slide had a mirror in it so you could see if anyone was at the bottom and the big some kind of electronic sensor that changed a red light to a green one to tel lyou to go.

I was super impressed with the lifeguards, they were extremely vigilent. They wouldn't look away from the pool to answer questions or point directions, they'd do it the whole time with their eyes on the pool - and this was on days when there were maybe 5 people in the whole pool.

The room at CBR was decent, nothing exciting, but you've seen the pictures - ours smelled a bit musty, the fan in the bathroom did little to get the moisture out of the room I guess.

I was less than impressed by the food court. We ate their the first night and found the selection lacking and food mediocre (a chicken sandwich). Trust me, I'm no food snob. We avoided it the rest of the stay. It's smaller than say a typical mall food court and while it has several shops, they each only have a 3-4 selections, so it has significantly less variety than I was hoping for. We had a car, so we ate off site - outback, red lobster, quisnos. We did order the disney pizza to the room one night and that wasn't too bad.

Housekeeping was great - my daughter took a nap the first day and wet the bed. I stripped it, noting as I did how amazing the mattress looked so good (no stains) and realized all the beds had a waterproof mattress pad. I called housekeeping and by the time we got back we everything made up again.

Just back from CBR! We had a great time! We stayed in Trinidad South Bldg 39 (I had requested Jamaica) It was quite a hike to OPR, about 13 minutes with a 4yo. I really didn't mind being in Trinidad South, our room was ready at 9:30AM!!:cool1: It was quiet and Mousekeeping was very good. The kids LOVED the new pool, I think they would have stayed there all week. We watched the Epcot fireworks from the bridge near OPR (great spot). I did want to note that food court has improved. The food was better and despite being there at a busier time then we usually go, there was never a wait at the register. I had vegetarian lasagna and the portion was HUGE and it was delicious (the best counter service food during the whole trip). On our check out day the front desk called to tell us a guest had reported that we had a flat tire and they were sending someone out to help us with it. AAA showed up (no charge) and changed it for us!

As always we had a great time and would absolutly go back!!:thumbsup2

FYI for anyone going soon...all the Christmas decorations at the resort gift shop and most other gift shops as well are 50% off. CBR still had a good selection as opposed to World of Disney.

Thanks for all the great trip reports! It's always good to hear people's reviews! We can't wait until we're back there this summer!:cool1:

Background: Last trip was not great. DD got sick and than DH got sick and we had to leave.

:dance3: Our vacation insurance came through and we are going back to WDW at the end of feb!!!!!!

I feel such a relief. :cheer2:

Just back also... and a great stay!

We stayed at Barbados 14. I thought we would have a long walk, but it was actually pretty short (less than 5 min), and very nice. The room was refurbished with the Nemo theme, and it was pretty comfortable in terms of space. Mousekeeping was good.

The bus service was fine, and even though our stop was usually the last, we always had seats.

The Food Court was fine for us. We used the new Main Pool and DD loved it. The big slide was great, and the kiddie play area with the smaller slides and water dumpinig every 2 min or so is a hit.

The Barbados pool re-opened, on 12/17 I think.

I'll post a Trip Report once I finish organizing the pics!

Glad to hear you enjoyed the CBR and didn't think the walk to the food court was 15 - 20 minutes :)

We just booked April 3-11th for a Pirates standard view room. The pirate beds look so cool, the boys are so excited about it!pirate: One question-this has probably been asked before, but what buildings are the Pirates rooms?

The pirate rooms will be in Trinidad South. About a 7-8 minute walk to OPR.

The walks are very pleasant, CBR is so lush and beautiful! :goodvibes

Very true! One of my favorite things about visiting CBR is going with my teenage DS's and getting up before them, grabbing a refillable mug of coffee, and walking around the lake and seeing the resort come alive amidst the beautiful foliage and scenery!!!
