Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

There is no swimming allowed in any of the lakes on WDW property. Think alligators, snakes, etc. There is also a fresh water amoeba that if it gets in your system can kill you.

I would think your kids would love the pool at CBR.

If you don't want to pay for preferred then request Jamaica or Aruba.

OK, we leave next Friday and didn't pay for preferred this time but requested the non preferred Martinique buildings as a first choice then Jamaica second. Any reason why you choose Jamacia or Aruba first?

The non-preferred Martinique buildings are fine, but from Jamaica and Aruba it's just a short walk across the bridge and through the island -- and the foliage and view are beautiful!:thumbsup2

Our reservation is for a king bed, water view. Should I request a certain bldg for that? TIA

Good morning,

We are leaving in less than 2 weeks and I am working on my list of what I will ship ahead of time to the resort and what we will purchase from GardenGrocer or the Resort Convience Store.

I need your assistance and expertise, please as this is our first time on property. I went to gardengrocer and a 24 pack of bottled deer park water is $7.99, at home I would pay $4.99 at most and milk is double the price of at home. Can you please tell me how the store in CBR compares to the prices on Garden Grocer, as I will only need to purchase juice boxes, milk and water. I will be shipping most of our snacks ahead of time.

Thank you so much!

Don't forget Garden Grocer also has a Delivery Fee and you have to purchase a certain monetary amount before you can have them deliver then they ask for a Tip for the Driver. I have visited 3 different MOD resorts and all of them had bottled water and I think small sized (Quart) Milk in there Gift Shop. I don't know the price for them but most things at Disney are overpriced so be prepared.

First: CBR is a beautiful resort.

I do not remember the prices of item, though.

Are you on any dining plan? If so, you can use your snack credits to purchase water, milk and beverages at CBR or at the parks. Also, if I am not mistaken a small milk comes with some "meals".

I also suggest getting a refillable mug. You can use it for your morning coffee or for other drinks, while at the resort.

Getting milk and water from Garden Grocer will be more expensive than buying than at home, but these items can be delivered to your room. But, if you were to purchase each item seperate at CBR it would be much more expensive. If you are looking to save some money perhaps you could "pack" Parmalat milk, juice boxes, or bottled water in your suitcase.

You do not mention if you have any children, but from your nickname, I guess that you do :) . With my daughter, I used a spill-proof cup to use in the parks, since the Refillable mugs are not spill-proof.

Have a GREAT Time and I hope that I was able to help, a bit.

Thanks everyone for the responses and so quick, I might add.

I think I will purchase the refillable mug and since we are on the DDP go with the snack credits, even though I really want to use them for some yummy treats. My other concern is I only drink water no soda at all and don't really want to drink from the tap, so was looking at bottled water to have in the room and to take in the parks. Any suggestions besides the DDP?

I will skip the milk and get it in the mug (if we can) for cereal. My kids are older (4 & 11) so they don't need milk for bedtime etc.

Thanks!

Can someone walk me through the check in process at CBR? Mainly, how will we get our luggage to our room? We are flying and not renting a car. We're using Magical Express, but arriving late in the evening, so we plan to claim our bags ourselves before we board the bus. We'll be traveling with my 18-month-old DD, so I don't want to wait for a late luggage delivery. Do we have to load our bags back onto a shuttle then lug them to our rooms? Load them on a cart and walk to our building? I have requested Martinique preferred. It would just help me plan better if I know what to expect. Thank you!

Costco will deliver 24-bottle cases of water to your resort even if you aren't a member, and delivery is free. It will cost about $6 per case including shipping. Much less than GardenGrocer once you figure in their delivery fee, tip, and minimum order. Much MUCH less than buying water from Disney at $3 a bottle.

You can order the water from http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11150807

Have it shipped to:
GabbyJacobsmom (guest)
Disney Caribbean Beach Resort
900 CAYMAN WAY
HOLD FOR GUEST ARRIVAL DEC 7
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL 32830-8411

(replace the information in red with your actual name and arrival date)

Delivery took three days for me, so order it at least three days before you arrive. When you check in they will tell you you have a package waiting, and you can either take it with you or have bell services deliver it to your room.

Here's a friendly suggestion to do things differently ....

Especially when traveling with young kids near bedtime, the last thing I want to do is trust the airlines with all of my necessities. Because of this, no matter where I fly, I always pack for our first 24 hours' needs in our carry-ons (you're allowed one carry-on per ticketed passenger) just in case the AIRLINE delays our luggage.

And because I pack this way, I really have no care when my DME luggage is delivered to me. In fact, when I arrive late, I request that my DME bags be held 'til the next morning so we don't get awakened in the middle of the night.

The last thing I'd want to do is find that the airline delayed one of my bags and I don't have everything I need for my toddler for bedtime and the next morning.

Stopping and waiting at baggage claim will likely delay your arrival at your resort. In the time you're detouring towards baggage claim and waiting there, and then dragging your bags to the DME area, it's quite likely that the bus you COULD have been on has already left for your resort, and you'll have to wait for the next one. To me, with a little one, my top priority is getting that little one to bed ASAP, and if Disney gives me a way to do that (skipping baggage claim) then I'm going to take them up on their offer!

So there it is ... my recommendation for letting DME handle your luggage for you, and calling for it the next morning.

But PLEASE, even if you plan to claim your own luggage, PLEASE pack your carry-ons like I suggested, anyway, just in case the AIRLINE delays your bags.

Have fun!!!:thumbsup2

If you do claim your own bags at baggage claim and drag them to DME with you ...

When you get to the bus, the driver will load them under the bus for you, and will unload them for you as soon as you arrive at CBR. A tip would be appropriate.

From there, a Bell Services cast member may offer to help with your bags while you check-in. After you check-in, it is very likely that you will be offered a ride to your room in a Bell Services van, with the cast member taking care of your bags for you. You'll be driven to your room and the CM will handle the bags and of course, a tip would be appropriate). If Bell Services is very very busy, you'll be told you can take the Internal Shuttle bus to your room WITHOUT your luggage, and Bell Services will deliver the bags as soon as they can.

If your room is close enough to the Custom House, you could choose to walk there, also. Luggage isn't permitted on Disney Transport buses (which is why you would NOT have the option of taking your checked bags on the bus with you to your room).

[FYI, I mention the tipping because with the DME automatic luggage service from airport to resort, Disney pre-tips the cast members, and therefore you DO NOT tip when the DME luggage is brought to your room. I didn't mean to suggest earlier that you wouldn't choose to tip people who deserve a tip. :goodvibes ]

What's the latest day you can give WDW your flight info for DME? We are planning to drive down, but the airfare has been dropping and if it drops enough, we just might fly down.

We stayed @ CBR Nov. 1-8. I shipped snacks and cereal along with bowls and spoons to the resort. I purchased 1/2 gallon of milk in the gift shop for $ 2.85. That is the same price of milk in our hometown. The 1/2 gallon fit perfectly in the door of the fridge in our room.:)

This is awesome to hear since we will be doing this for our three kids when we arrive on Friday.

Oh, absolutely! I always pack for the airline loosing my bags, i.e. my carry on is an overnight bag. I've just never flown with our daughter before and all my "what-ifs" are heightening my nervous need to get all our stuff with us before we go to bed that night. But, yours is a good suggestion, and I'll share this with my husband and get his vote.

THIS IS SO HELPFUL! Thank you so much. This is what I needed to know! And, we're habitual tippers. It's not even an optional thing with us.

Can you remember if they had whole milk available in half gallon?
