Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

You might want to grab something to eat at the airport. They might still be open. The food court at CBR is open to 11.

Eating at the airport is looking like my best option at this time. Should I check into DME first?

The food court at OPR is open until 11pm, but you would be hitting that time period extremely close. I would suggest grabbing something to eat at the airport before taking off for CBR.

Well, I just checked the website again and called the resort. The woman I spoke to at CBR says they only have Pak-n-Play cribs. I don't know what we'll do.

We stayed at CBR last month with our 17 mo. old who normally sleeps in a crib at home. We got a King bed room and brought with us an AeroBed for Kids for DS. It fit perfectly next to the bed (with the wall on the other side.) A couple times he needed to sleep with us but it wasn't a problem because there was so much room in the King bed. Unfortunately my pictures aren't uploaded to photobucket yet.

We arrived back home today from another overall wonderful stay at CBR. This was our 5th stay at CBR and we were placed in Jamaica 4432 (corner room close to parking lot with 2 windows), 4431 and 4430. Another perfect location...short walk from our cars, right down the path from the quiet pool, around the corner from a very nice designated smoking section and a quick walk to OPR. Housekeeping was great as always. I've never had a bad experience with housekeeping or a dirty room.

This part is for smoker's so please don't flame...the courtyard designated smoking sections are very nice! Plenty of benches, tables and umbrella's for cover during rain. We met so many nice people during our breaks at the smoking area's.

They were finishing up with renovations to Aruba and have started the renovations at Jamaica 45. The rooms we were assigned of course were not renovated as of yet, but when we were leaving yesterday morning it looked like they were going to start on building 44. I could not find out any information on the Pirate rooms in Trinidad South.

I do have two complaints this time around. I was very disappointed not to hear the caribbean music piped through the island leading to OPR. The only caribbean music we found was at Banana Cabana and inside OPR. The music they use to pipe through the island truly set the mood and was really missed. The other complaint is the fence around the pool and closing the pool at 10pm. If you spend all day in the parks you can't get back in time to hit the pool or to soak in the hot tub. This is one of the main reasons we book a moderate resort...to take advantage of a nice pool and hot tubs which could not be used when returning from spending the day at the parks due to it being closed. If they're going to start fencing and locking gates to the main pools I feel they should at least keep it open for use until midnight. This is an amenity we pay good money for, but with the new rules we could not enjoy a nice long soak in the hot tub at the end of the night after being in the parks all day and boy did we miss this amenity!!!! I'm sorry to say, but my husband, parents and I will all be writing letters of complaint regarding this issue.

CBR is still our favorite Moderate Resort, but these two issues did take away from our overall enjoyment.

Thanks so much for your report! Glad to hear Jamaica has started renovations. That is where I'm requesting to stay in February.
Now about the hot tub. I too will be very disappointed if we can't use it at night. That is something we look forward to doing a few times during our stay. Please write those complaint letters.
Thanks again!

A good amount of money is paid to stay at Disney Resorts and people make decisions based on the amenities of each resort. I forsee a lot of people making complaints if they don't have access to the amenities they pay for. Who knows whether it will do any good or not. I did see several people jumping over the fence after the gates were locked at night.

One of our rooms 4432...corner room on the left with two windows. 4432 and 4431 are connecting/adjoining rooms (door in room with access to both rooms).

My grandson playing in the fountain at OPR...Isaiah turned 23 months during the vacation. Yes, he's absolutely huge for his age!

Maria my nephew is the same size as your munchkin, but my DS who is 18 months is only 22 lbs and 31" tall a peanut. He is adorable by the way I love the face where he is feeding the ducks.

Mississippianna- I'm traveling with my daughter who will be 23 months when we go. She's too big for the portacrib so I'm probably going to ask for two or three sets of bedrails and she and my son will sleep in one bed together. I'll put bedrails all around except for one spot so he can get out to potty if needed. It's either that or I'm toying around with getting a Ready Bed for her. Have you looked at those? It kind of dips in the middle so the child doesn't fall out too easily plus it's close to the ground in case they do!

And I really hope the music is piped in still!!!!! :confused3

Maria did you request a corner room? Or did you just get lucky?

Have you looked at the Aero Beds for Kids? I looked at both and went with the Aero bed. We loved it and will get to use it for years to come.

We have the aero sleep away bed (I think it's called?) - best money we ever spent. It is a great little bed, sunk in the middle, we've used it so many times! Has an air pump, very easy to use and small enough to fit anywhere in hotel rooms.

Kim :)
