Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

We just received our travel documents for our stay at CBR so excited now, hurry up depature day.:dance3:

Does anyone know whether the pirate rooms have been started yet!?! pirate: If so, has anyone been able to get any sneaky photos!!?!
Debsx:laughing:

Are the pirate rooms perferred rooms or can anyone request them?

The pirate rooms are a separate room category that must be RESERVED and that cost more per night than a standard room.

At CBR, "preferred location" is another specific room category that must be reserved and costs extra per night; it means rooms in the 6 buildings closest to Old Port Royale, the complex that has the food court, shops, etc.

:dance3: You guys are fabulous! Many, many thanks! :worship:

Sorry I didn't read later posts--I have been sick. We were told when we checked in at the CB resort that there were no king rooms refurbished in the Nemo theme. I was only giving information I was told by the front desk clerk, so I assumed she was giving me accurate information.

How do you know this? The reason I ask is that king-size bed rooms are scattered throughout the resort ... it's not like there's a special section of them. Are you saying that when they refurbish an entire village, such as Barbados, that they skip over the king-size bed rooms?

Do you possibly mean room 4625? 2625 would be in Martinique.

Glad to hear you had such a great trip! :yay:

Sorry--typo--it was #4625.

Did you happen to ask for a Nemo-themed king-size bed room? Perhaps she MEANT to tell you that there were none available for you at that time. Again, just a hunch ... not that it matters for anything. :hippie:

Yes--we specifically asked for a Nemo king sized room and she told us there were no king rooms refurbished to Nemo. I checked just now with my DH and he confirmed that I didn't misunderstand. We even asked if we could change to a Nemo room with the two beds, but unfortunately, none were available. The room we had was nice, except there was a fairly large red spot on the carpet by the door.

My dd first got sick with a high fever and needed a dr.
Than dh got sick with a stomach virus.

I needed help and was told to have a magical day.

To those planning on staying at CBR. Bring the name of the dr that comes to your room, know how to check out in a hurry, and most of all pack for the unexpected. I needed a thermometer and they only sell the forehead ones. You live and learn.

Overall the resort is beautiful. The new pool is great. We had a Nemo room.
when I get unpacked, I will post pics.

Thank you to all of those that calmed my fear of getting lost. It is so easy to navigate the resort. It is big but only if plan on seeing all of the areas. I mostly went from our room to Port Royal. Traveling time and picking up food only took 30 minutes.

I am sorry about your dd and dh getting sick on the trip. There is nothing worse.
We only stayed at CBR one night, but I enjoyed it enough to hope to return some day. The pool is great, the grounds are beautiful, and it just seemed like a nice family type resort.

Thank you for your kindness.
The pain of going to WDW and not seeing 1/8 of the parks hurts still, but I am planning our next trip and NO ONE is allowed to get sick. Of course we will stay at CBR. It is such a beautiful place. I can not wait to go back. I tried talking Dh into going back in December but he nixed the idea.

I am still looked through my pix, but I will post them soon.

On a side note: We had/have travel insurance. I have been fighting with them over the amount they want to pay us. They do not understand 2 nights, 3 days. They say 2 days, 2 nights...but I called my TA @AAA to get some info and happened to mention my problem and she is going to finish my fight. What a relief. I never thought to ask for her help, but by chance I got some pixie dust.

When you book a preferred room do you get a water view? Or does preferred just mean close to the food court? I guess if it's one or the other we would book the water view room and hope we weren't too far out?

I think Water View is still a separate booking category, but be warned that "water view" can include a view of the quiet pool.

The preferred buildings are some of the Trinidad North section and some of Martinique; they are the ones closest to OPR/food court/shop.

It's one or the other.

At CBR, the wordings are very precise. "Preferred location" means a room in one of closest buildings to Old Port Royale, the complex that has the food court, main pool, etc. These buildings are all of the Trinidad North buildings (31-32-33) and half of the Martinique buildings (24-25-26). SOME of the rooms in those buildings also happen to have a water view, but you can't reserve and pay for a preferred location room with a water view ... those who get those rooms got sprinkled with pixie dust.

"Water view" means a room that faces water. That water might be Barefoot Bay (the lake) or it might be a village quiet pool. You can request one or the other but that can't be guaranteed. Because every village has some lake frontage and because every village has its own quiet pool, that means that there are plenty of water view rooms in each village. Therefore, "water view" has NOTHING to do with how close or far your room would be from Old Port Royale.

If I was going to pay the extra money, I would book Preferred and be closer to the OPR. We have had that and we booked it again for this year. I'd rather be closer than to be far away and have a view of a pool. Just not worth it to me.

We are planning and end of February/beginning of March trip and have been thinking about staying in a new "Pirate" room. I realize that there are very far away from the food court and such, but are we going to be miserable if we are that far away? How far of a walk would it be to the food court?

Thanks
tuckerboy

We will be going Jan. 21-27. Anyone else going at this time? How is the weather for swimming this time of the year? The pools are heated, right? Can't wait. We missed our disney trip this year. We did make it to Disney on Ice though. Made me miss Disney even more!! Will be staying at CBR for the first time. We'll let you know how it goes!!!:)

We just got back Friday night & really liked the CBR .

Everyone was very friendly & helpful (check-in, mousekeeping, restaurants, etc...).

The grounds were beautiful!!

We would stay there again, but, still prefer the FW Cabins over the CBR, mainly due to the cabins having more room for ds to run about and the boat ride over to MK. We want to try a deluxe resort next time.

The rooms (ours and friends) were not ready at check-in, but, were ready by 5pm.

We were upgraded to Martinique, bldg 25, 2nd floor, courtyard view. Our friends had a corner room with two windows.

The room was clean and very quiet :thumbsup2.

Our friends room, right next door to ours, wasn't so clean (I didn't see it, just going by what she said) & they called for mousekeeping to re-clean the room.

We were left one towel animal :).

We all (friends included) caught the Disney crud , except ds and dh. Thankfully mine only lasted a short time.

Ds loved the main pool, although, ds and dh said it was a bit cold. Ds loved playing on the beach and playground :cloud9:.

Buses were great, with the longest wait about being about 10 mins, however, the walk from the parks to the buses seemed really long to us :confused3.

Happy to answer any ?'s ;)

Here are a few pics....

I'll try to post more pics later!! I'm also going to post a park report (crowds, MNSSHP, etc...) when I get some time.

Enjoyed your review and pics. We just got back from CBR 2 weeks ago. We booked a preferred room and were also in Martinique 25. We had a good stay. Can you tell what the Disney Crud is? I'm a bit of a germophobe ;) . My DS had 104 fever while we were there and we took him ot the ER but he was okay just rundown.
