well...first ever trip to disney june 09...booked a 5 night stay..requested close to pool...but should i be more specific...want this trip to be special as its our 25th anniversary...hubbys bday....so close to the action would certainly help.

Ohhhhhhh, Happy 25th Anniversary! WooHoo!!! The main pool and Old Port Royal is where you will find the action...1 sit down restaurant, multiple counter service stations with great selection of different foods, ice cream station, arcade, two wonderful shops with unique gifts, hair wrapping and tattoo stations by the main pool. Also the Barefoot Bay Boatyard and Bikeworks is located in this area. The closest buildings to this area would be the Preferred Buildings in Martinique and Trinidad North. There is a bridge and island right off the walkway of the main pool area that leads over to Aruba and Jamaica which are standard rooms...you do not have to pay the extra cost of a preferred room. Aruba 51, 52 and Jamaica 45, 46 and 44 would be the closest to the bridge that leads to OPR and takes 5 minutes to walk...10 minutes at the very most if walking extremely slow. Yes, my 94 year old grandfather walked it in less than 10 minutes and his legs were really hurting him last summer, but he managed just fine in the mornings. Most nights after spending the whole day in the parks in the heat of August he would ask my father to drop him off at OPR when returning from the parks late at night.

Maybe asked before but - how does your luggage get moved to your room at CBR ? If our room is not assigned at 11:30 am when we arrive and we go to the parks - then when we get back to CBR around 4:30 PM - how does our luggage get to our room when it is asssigned to us when we get back from the parks ?

Can we move our luggage ourselves ? Any luggage racks available ?

We will pay for a preferred room and request Martinique.

Thanks !

We just returned from our first trip to WDW and CBR and it was amazing! We were in Martinique bldg. which if that is preferred we recvd. a little disney magic!
We arrived at about noon and the room wasn't ready so we went to the food court and had lunch. We checked after lunch and our room was ready so we were able to go directly to it. We called bell services to retrieve our grocery delivery and the brought it w/ in about 15 min..
The pool was great, the grounds were beautiful and everyone was so helpful. I loved that the grounds were so quiet. The beds and pillows were comfy and we got 4 days of the cutest towel animals from mousekeeping. We spent one evening strolling the grounds trying out all the hammocks w/ our 4 year old. I couldn't think of a thing they could do different there, it was an absolutely wonderful vacation and the best part is on the last day DH suggesting we book for next year!!!!
Thanks for all your tips that made our trip so smooth!

You can leave your luggage with Bell Services and they will deliver your luggage if needed. Since we drive down we just haul our luggage ourselves since each island has their own parking.

So glad you had a great trip, we stayed in North Trinidad last year and have a request in for our Preferred Room to be in Martinique this year.

We just got back as well from CBR and had a great first trip on site. After reading all the posts here I felt like I was already home. Your posts were very helpful.

We booked standard room and got Martinique 2337 - which was a revamped Nemo room. The room was ready when we arrived around 10am (I told my dd11 not to expect it to be ready but, it was and she kept reminding me that she was right the whole trip).

Our second day was at Magic Kingdom and there were absolutely no lines. Weather was great the whole trip. Buses were running on a pretty good pace. CBR was great and we hated to come home.

Only drawbacks for us (and these were just probably us) 1. Disney Dining - we did the standard package and we would probably do the new CS only plan next time. There was simply too much food (and that is saying a lot for me because I like to eat) 2. Hoopty Do Revue - the only way to get there is a bus to Magic Kingdom and a boat ride to the Fort Wilderness area - its like you are stranded on an island trying to get back. 3. Hollywood Studios - the only long line was for Toy Story Mania and the Fast Passes were already reserving for 4-5p at 10am in the morning. I opted not to use the fast pass for it and still be able to fast pass for other rides. Should have went ahead because there are not many rides that needed the fast pass in the rest of the park. 4. A couple of rides I would pass on (again this might just be us) in Hollywood Studios - The Great Movie Ride (really slow loading and moving) & Sounds Dangerous (just doesn't really work - no one seemed to like this one)

Other than that, we had a great time.

Let me know if I can pass any info that would be helpful to you.

Thanks for all your help on here.

:cloud9: We just returned from our own magical week (anniversary trip) to CBR, and my DH said he misses the CBR more than the parks!!! We also booked bounce back at CBR. :lovestruc

There is a little box that we bring along when we travel so that we can use the DVD player on the PC to watch the movie on any hotel television (ok, we did find one TV in a very small town that didn't have the plug in necessary, but that was likely because everything about that hotel was old old old, lol).

You can get it at Walmart (and probably also places like Radio Shack).

My DH is asleep, but I'll try to remember to ask him exactly what it's called.

Dh said only if you have a tv output port on your laptop. He said if you do get a cable from the manu. of your computer.

Thanks so much for answering and asking DH for his help, I really appreciate it! So, since the laptop is relatively new, I checked the best buy site to check the specs and it says S-video TV-out , so that should be just what I need, right? This is cool, we can watch our disney movies in the room now! Yay! And thanks again! :thumbsup2

So is the pool closing at 7;30 every night?? We do like ot take a swim after the parks sometimes but more like 8 or 9 PM.

Different cast members I asked at the resort said it was 10 PM. So I don't know if there was a problem the night I was there.

Yes, if you get an S-Video cable, you can hook it up to your TV. If you want the sound to come out of your TV, you will also need to buy a cable with a headphone plug on one end and red and white RCA plugs on the other.

Best Buy tends to way overcharge on cables -- I buy mine from Monoprice.com. You can get a 6-foot S-video cable for $2.75 here and a 6-foot headphone-to-RCA cable for $0.66 here. Shipping for both cables together will be about $3, so your total is under $6.50. Best Buy charges $19 for the same quality S-video cable and $8 for the same quality audio cable, for a total of $27.

Below is a picture of the front of the TV showing the connectors:

I just booked CBR for next July! :woohoo:

This will be our granddaughter's first trip to WDW. princess:

I wonder what the chances are over the next few months that I can get a code to lower the price...? ;)

Just back from a 9/22-9/29 stay.
ME- Plane landed at 4pm and after a short wait in line we were on our way and standing in the lobby at 5pm. Our bus was then going on to Boardwalk and YC & BC.
Check-In- was fast and easy. We had paid for a preferred room and requested and got Martinique 25. Had also asked for a King bed but did not get that. ( A king room sat empty next to us our entire stay). We had a lake view ,which I would not pay for. There aren't balconies to sit out on and with the nice beach and plenty of chairs right in front of each resort there is IMO no need to pay extra for lake view.We sat out and watched EPCOT fireworks 2 nights.
Resort was fairly well maintained but there are areas that could use some attention.
Mousekeeping was good. We had a new Nemo room and thought the color scheme was soothing. Room was clean on arrival and we had no issues.
Pool is awesome. But I don't understand why they are only open 10 AM to 10PM. Other resorts let you swim at all hours and only close the slides when lifeguards not on duty.
They are working on Barbados now and we saw piles of old carpeting sitting out in the parking areas. I know there had been some discussion as to whether carpet was being replaced.
Food Court-Only ate a couple of breakfast meals here but what we had was hot and filling. CM's were friendly for the most part. I would greet CM's out and about and alot of the time they wouldn't make eye contact.
Buses- Only waited for more than 15 minutes a couple of times at the resort and seemed to have good luck at the parks.
We enjoyed our stay and will probably come back again sometime in the future.
Any ?-I'd be happy to make an attempt to answer.

Pool hours until 10 PM aren't that bad. Wish they opened by 9am but no biggie. Just glad it's not 7:30 PM that would stink.

ok this may sound odd but how large is the area in near the sink? if i remember correctly someone mentioned there was a curtain dividing the sink area from the sleeping area. the reason i as is because my dd is 18 months and when we usually stay at pop she winds up sleeping in our bed. as long as she can see us she'll scream at us. we were thinking we might be able to make a makeshift room by the sink area if there is enough room and again there is a curtain there?

Thanks, maybe a good night sleep and more room in the bed???
Can't wait!!! CBR is the only mod resort we haven't stayed
at and we're really excited.

We booked a standard room for this visit (save a penny where we can)
Is there a particular std room building anyone would recommend.
We'll be with my parents (mid 60's) and would like to be close
to bus and food if possible.

we kept our stroller (left open) to the right of the sink (kind of under the curtain rod). There is lots of room in that area I think you should be able to fit a pack n play in there. I'll check to see if I have a picture that would show you.
