I hope it does not close that early. We will be at CBR in less than two weeks, I hope to enjoy the pool later then 7:30 :( Please let us know what you find out!

I am wondering if I will be able to hook up a portable dvd player to our tv at CBR? If so, is the access on the front of the television?
This is a great thread but it's taken me 3 days to reach page 30. I'm going to have to book some time off work to catch up! Keep up the great work!

Hello everyone, we are back from an awesome trip to WDW and I have to say that the CBR did not impress. Don't get me wrong, the grounds were nice, the new pool was fine, room was o.k. Here's the nasty series of events that kinda soured the the whole Caribbean experience: 1st night, checked in at 3:30 pm, did not receive our luggage until 11:30 pm(not the resorts fault) I was told that there was a huge luggage problem at airport and that bell services received a large amount of luggage all at once that had to be delivered. Also, 1st night, we had some groceries that were delivered and were being stored in bell services while we were away from the room. I could not reach anyone from bell services to have the groceries delivered to our room. I was told by the front desk to go to the customs house and get the items myself and bring them to my room myself(we were in Trinidad South). This ate up a good portion of the evening. Finally, at 1:00 am the next day, we are all settled with our luggage and groceries. 2nd day: we return from a day at the parks late(about 10:15 pm)
We decided to stop by the food court to p/u a CHEESE pizza to bring back to the room. We get to the room, open the box, and it's a pepperoni pizza. Now, I know it would have been a smart thing to do to open the box before you leave the food court, but the box and ticket were both labeled cheese(we were tired and just wanted to get back to the room). Now we leave the room to go return the pizza. Just as we started walking towards the bus stop, we realized it was now past 11 pm, food court is closed. We go back to the room, put the key in the door, and it won't open. We tried all of our keys and none would open the door. So then we had to get new keys made. It's late, we are still hungry and have to wait for new keys to get into our room. At that point I was furious. I called the front desk and explained all the problems we were having. The manager put us into Martinique #2533, one of those new Nemo rooms. I couldn't care less about the Nemo theme. It was nice to be closer to OPR though. After all that, the resort stay was fine. Nothing to write home about. I don't think I would stay there in the future.
I can't imagine all the problems that must occur during their busy season.:sad2:

Yes they do. It is in the front. We watch our Disney movies when were there at night.

We are just back from a 8 night stay at Carribean Beach! This was our 3rd stay there and just as wonderful as before.

The only thing that could've been a problem was our location. I had called and requested Jamacia or Aruba. We were assigned Barbados 16, that building is not close to anything. It was a nemo room. The room was nice and clean. The beds are more comfortable than last year. I think they put some mattress topper on the beds. I called and ask if we could move to a preferred section, but the resort was sold out for 2 night. They told me they would move me when a room was available. Tax included, it was only $18.00 more a day for perferred. It's so worth it to be in preferred.

There was no problem with the buses at Carribean Beach. We did however have to wait at the Poly. one night for a bus to Downtown Disney, but it's so nice not to have to drive!

The pool is awesome and the kids loved the new pirate kiddie area! I even went down the new slide and it was great!

There is a hair wrapping station there. My daughter had to have one. It's $2.00 per inch plus beading. FYI The lady told us that the hair had to be dry.

The Turkey BLTs are wonderful at the food court.

My family and I love this resort!

Glad you had a wonderful stay. We returned 9/24 - I'm already missing it.

We've stayed at POR the past 2 trips and loved the spread out feel of that resort- it's a reason we keep going back! We are switching to CBR this next trip b/c the kiddos will just love the pirate room and pool!
I'm getting a little nervous though that this resort sounds to be waaay more spread out than POR and we'll be in Trinidad South (b/c of the pirate room) which seems to be the furthest away. Is this really in the middle of nowhere or is it a nice "getting away from it all" feeling? Also, which building would you request in Trinidad S? We do have a water view (all that was left) if that makes a difference...

Thanks for any CBR advice- we're looking forward to it!

We recently got a laptop and will bring it down with us in Nov to CBR, yay! Do you think we can hook it up to the tv to play dvd's that way? Not sure how we would do it but maybe if it's possible we can figure out how to do it. I think they should really have disney channel for the resorts that show the disney animated movies, maybe newer ones could be pay per view, so there would be a good variety. I like the disney cartoon channel they have(still have?) but they just run the same few over and over.

.....

I'm glad you all really enjoyed CBR, it's so fun and just really nice and laid back. Feels like home there! (not like home exactly, I live near chicago, but you know what I mean I think!) Where did you get the turkey blt? Sounds yummy and good to know of something else to consider, we almost always get a cheeseburger there cause we think they are yummy!

I like staying in Trinidad South best. I don't feel at all like it's in the middle of nowhere at all. No, it's not near the food court at all or the pirate pool, but it's quiet and lovely, more like a feeling of getting away from it all type of feeling. I think you will love it and I hope you have a great time! :goodvibes

There is a little box that we bring along when we travel so that we can use the DVD player on the PC to watch the movie on any hotel television (ok, we did find one TV in a very small town that didn't have the plug in necessary, but that was likely because everything about that hotel was old old old, lol).

You can get it at Walmart (and probably also places like Radio Shack).

My DH is asleep, but I'll try to remember to ask him exactly what it's called.

When we were there Sept 11 through the 18th, the main pool was open until 10pm...the quiet pools are open until midnight. Hopefully SafetyMom just hit a strange night. Like everyone seems to say, the nighttime is sometimes the only time you spend in the pools, when you return from the parks...

Dh said only if you have a tv output port on your laptop. He said if you do get a cable from the manu. of your computer.

I think the CM was incorrect. I know at the CBR there are several different smoking locations.

There are tons of Designated Smoking Sections at CBR, but they aren't in the way of anyone other than smokers. You'll see a bench at each island with an ashtray. CRO was incorrect in telling you this.

There is a designated smoking area thread at the top of the resorts board. It shows where they are at each resort.

Thanks all for the info. I was pretty sure the CM was mistaken.

well...first ever trip to disney june 09...booked a 5 night stay..requested close to pool...but should i be more specific...want this trip to be special as its our 25th anniversary...hubbys bday....so close to the action would certainly help.

I asked at the concierge desk what time the main pool was open to for swimming this morning. She told me 10.

You may be able to sit on the lounges but the main poll had several signs stating the pool was closed. No one was in it.

I will be going back in a couple of weeks. I will check it out again.

I would say you should be more specific, because there is the main pool and a pool at each village. If you want to be close to the main pool, you will need to book a preferred room.

We have stayed at CSR on our last 2 trips and although we love it there, I'm thinking of staying at CBR on our next trip. I've been reading this thread and although I've gotten some great info and enjoyed the pics, I don't have enough time to read all the pages so I'm sorry if these questions were asked already. Is there any elevators in the buildings? Do the buildings have more than 2 floors? And is Caribbean Cay just an Island in between the 2 sides of the lake or is there something on it? And do they have pool towels at the main pool? Thanks, Linda :)

Hi Jerseygirl...there are only two floors to each of the buildings...no elevators. I would highly recommend 1st floor if stairways are unmanageable. Each of the islands have their own quiet pool...no towels here, but the main pool by OPR has towel service. Caribbean Cay Island is really lovely...there are hammocks, walkways with cannons, volleyball net, seating areas (at one time had a play area for children, but not sure if that is still there or not...didn't take notice the last two summers if it was still there) and caribbean music piped through the island. Caribbean Cay Island isn't very large, but definitely a highlight to our trips to walk through.

Yes, CBR is definitely spread out, but that's why our family loves it so much. After spending all day in crowded parks it's heaven to return to the serenity of CBR. If I were to choose Trinidad South I would more than likely request building 35...right along the lake but closest building to Trinidad North which is right next to OPR.
