Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

You can follow the progress of the pool construction in the first post of this FAQ. It is supposed to be done Sept. 15, 2008.

Thanks Lisa!

It's exciting going to a new place - but kind of scary when you don't know what to expect! It's reassuring about the beds - we also have a King at home and were worrying that we might fight over the bedclothes! Pushing the bed up against the wall is also an idea - my youngest is a fidgety sleeper.

It's just so great to hear from so many people who love the resort - I kind of picked it because I loved the idea of the caribbean theming - my Dad is from the caribbean and we've visited there twice!

Thanks also for reassurance over Shutters. We just wanted somewhere convenient for when we get there! We have many other wonderful meals 'booked' for our stay.

We have heard rumours over here that the main pool might be opened ahead of schedule - we don't particularly mind about the main pool but it would nice to see it completed.

Thanks again for all the wonderful posts!
Shari xx:)

I love how all the folks on this board help so much! I need a little of that help now. I'm going on my honeymoon at CBR from June 29-July 4. It's the first trip to Disney for my fiance and I want to make sure the resort experience is as pleasureable as possible so she'll want to go back no matter what:) I know that CBR is a little large and takes some time to walk around and convenience is sometimes lost in place of quietness. It's my first time staying onsite and I was wondering if you folks could help me out with figuring out where you think a good building and/or room number would be for us? Since I'm sure it will be extremely busy when we're going, I would like to have a little privacy or at least not be so loud(so no pool-view probably). I would like the buses to be convenient so any input on that will also focus in to my decisions. I haven't called up the resort yet to request anything. My reservation is for a King Bed but that's all so far. Any help you guys could give would be extremely appreciated. We plan to go resort hopping so hints on that could be kewl too. I know it's alot to ask but just simple answers would help me out. Thanks so much!

There are 6 villages at CBR. Each has its own bus stop, so you're never too far from the buses.

If you want the most secluded village, request Trinidad South. It is the farthest from Old Port Royale, the kind-of central complex that has the restaurant, food court, shops, arcade, etc.

Call Disney and request a room in a relatively quiet or secluded area, and/or Trinidad South. You'll be calling Disney, you won't be able to call CBR directly. The central reservations office will note your room request on your reservation.

This is all assuming you booked through Disney and not through a travel agent. If you booked through a TA, you will not have access to your reservation ... your TA will have to do that for you.

Mouseplanet is confirming the rennovation of all buildings except Trinidad South.

Anybody in the know ... have you heard anything about when this rehab might start? (I just did an online "chat" with a CM, who knew nothing about it. She said there was nothing in their in-house system about a CBR room rehab.)

We are booked at CBR for our Sept. Free Dining trip, but if the pool and rooms will be under construction during that timeframe, we may try to switch our ressie this week and give CBR a try when everything is complete.

I'm wondering the same thing. We will be there the week before Christmas.

We just switched from WL to CBR for this August! Just love the bright colors and lightness of CBR.

Last stay (of 6) was 2005, so am looking forward to August :)

Due a medical issue we have to go through special requests - they are wonderful and have a blocked a 1st floor, corner lake view room for us :)

This thread is great fro CBR newbis, but also those of us who so enjoy the resort...thanks for a great thread!! :)

Errr, when exactly are they doing this?

Where did this info come from? any dates for the renovation? This is confusing!

Wow, this resort will really be something with the new pool & new rooms. How great!

After reading through this thread some more, I think I'm going to request a room in Jamaica or Aruba on the 2nd floor with a courtyard view. I know it's only a request and very late in time for my trip but maybe I'll get lucky. Do those choices(given in that order to whoever I talk to) sound pretty good to you folks? I don't want it to be too loud like one person mentioned cheerleaders one time but I want some convenience to Old Port Royale and the buses. Thanks for any help and all you've given so far.

Safetymom:

Can you confirm the room construction? I'd hate to be there for Christmas and hear construction going on...:headache:

I have not seen anything official announced by Disney. As soon as I do I will post it here.

I had a tough time deciding which Moderate to pick for our 2009 vacay. After much research, we decided on CBR, even though I had read several times that the rooms were showing age and worn down. So this would be fantastic!!
This definitely helps with our decision to stick with CBR!
Keep us posted on any updates on this information!

We're definitely excited about the possiblity of CBR refurbishment - it is 20 years old this year, so it's time is due! :)

CBR still has the old size TV's - which look so small now -even POP and newly renovated values have larger TV's! :)

Can anyone tell me about the Pirate Adventure at the CBR? Is it so popular that no way I would get it for September? Is it worth it? Any help greatly appreciated!

Buses heading to/from Magic Kingdom and Downtown Disney start at Martinique.

Buses heading to/from Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom start at Jamaica.

So there's no such thing as the "best" bus stop.

Can anyone share a link or personal experience how long it takes to get to each of the parks from CBR using the buses? Do the buses at CBR also first run an hour before park opening?

This is our first trip to WDW and we'll be staying at CBR in a preferred room (we requested Martinique) Sept. 7-13. It is so disappointing though knowing the new pool is scheduled to open two days after we leave.:( We are, however, super excited about our trip and the beach theming.
