Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

If i'm in a preferred room.. Is it safe to assume i will get a room with a king bed? There was no preferred-king option.

At CBR, the only meaning of preferred location is a room in one of the 6 buildings closest to Old Port Royale. There is nothing else "preferred" about a preferred location room. If you were to close the curtains (so you couldn't see out), you'd see absolutely no difference between a preferred location room and any other room.

If you strongly desire a room with a king-size bed, then you can reserve and pay for a king-size bed. Similarly, someone who strongly desires a room with a water view can reserve and pay for a water view room.

Strangely, WDW does NOT allow us to pay 2 separate upcharges to guarantee two of those three upgrades (preferred location, king-size bed, water view).

Thus, there is NO WAY to guarantee yourself a preferred location room with a king-size bed. You might get lucky, but that's very very iffy to say the very best.

What you need to do is decide which is more important. Reserve and pay for the one you can't do without, and then request the other(s).

There are 384 preferred location rooms. A bunch of them are also water view rooms (since each village has a pool and has some lake frontage). And some of them have king-size beds, also. But like I said, you can't count on getting any of those combinations. Reserve and thus guarantee the deal breaker, then request the rest and hope for the best.

I really should be in bed... but I wanted to post how completely LOVELY our time was at the CBR. We stayed at Martinique, building 24, first floor, double bed, garden view. Martinique was a short walk to Port Royale, and even shorter to the bus stop. We never waited longer than 15 minutes for a bus.

This is an incredible resort. I'm still quite shocked that more people don't talk about this resort. There's the beach, there's the wild life (bunnies and ducks), there's the wonderful cast members that go out of their way to make sure you're happy and comfortable. There's a pool on every island, (so who cares if the main pool is being refurbished...we didn't!) Counter service is very nice, grab & go market is great. There was live music outside Port Royale every night at the banana cabana. We had a late dinner one night and sat outside and listened to people sing karoke! What's not to love???

Let everyone else go to the other resorts.... I'm keeping this one all to myself. ;)

I'm so glad to hear you and your family had such a wonderful stay at CBR! I can't wait for our trip in October.
Do you have any pictures to post?

I am so glad to hear your review. We are really looking forward to trying this resort in August!

Yay for more good reviews of CBR, we can't wait to go in Sept.

What sort of live music was playing at OPR? Reggae? Calypso? Steel drum? Singing or just instrumental? (aside from the karyoke)

We had a steel drum band for our wedding reception so that has sentimental appeal. ~ducky

I haven't seen live music played at CBR in ages. They used to have live groups for special occasions. Most of them lip synced.

UPDATE: They had a group setting up outside in the courtyard at OPR tonight. We didn't stay to hear the music. But they had several guitars.

I called today, and she told me the same thing. She had me book the king size room, then put in a request to be in a preferred building.

Hey everyone! :wave2: My family & I just returned from our 1st on-site stay at POP. I'm already planning our trip for next year & trying to decide where we want to stay. We absolutely loved POP & have no problems returning, but still wouldn't mind trying something different.

Wanted to get some insight from you members who have stayed at POP & CBR. How do the 2 compare & which would you choose? Is it really worth the $?

This website helped me immensely while planning our 1st visit & it was a magical stay! :disrocks: We can't wait to go back!! :yay:

:thanks:

Great thread/site guys and gals. Have a message (first for me) for weaglej, could you tell me how much the King bed room was to reserve and how long the duration of your stay is. Many thanks in advance. K.

I believe it was $165 a night.

Im going august 7th - 13th. :cool2:

It depends on the time of year but typically $15-20 extra for a king, waterview, preferred on top of the rate per night.

safetymom - do you know how many washers/dryers are available at each area of CBR? I am trying to do all of the laundry one day in the middle of the trip, but with a three year old in tow we will have a lot.... :)

and the answer is 8 washers, 10 dryers. :) I went over and checked out two laundry rooms. :)

Hi Safteymom.......how is the pool coming along. I'm staying at CBR in November I can't wait to see it.

I always look forward to your updates. Thanks again!

Stay tuned. I just got back from CBR. I have lots of new pictures of the pool. I should have them up later tonight or in the morning.

Could you explain this "playpoints" system? These machines don't run off quarters?

any idea how many of these "playpoints" the average game requires? (i'm sure it varies)

:santa:

WOW.....Thanks again saftymom for the update.........I would never guess what that area of the "pool" is going to look like. I wonder what those two little houses are going to be............my goodness it sure looks like a mess.........but you know disney it will look perfect.........:goodvibes
