Caribbean Beach Resort FAQ Part 3

Can anyone tell me exactly what they are doing to the main pool at CBR??? We had planned on staying here in April but since the main pool was closed we decided not to stay there until it was open again. We've never stayed there before and made the decision that we want to stay there when it's in its full glory :)

This resort looks so beautiful and I know it's not really the "islands", it definitely looks pretty close to the real thing.

This past weekend, there was no more main pool at all. We boosted the children to look, and actually we could see, a large pile of dirt in the center of where the pool used to be. So the whole thing is going to be new.

That is correct. It is a brand new pool area. Jamaica is supposed to get a slide just like the one in Barbados.

Me and my DH plan on staying at the CBR in April, can someone please tell me which building is the best to stay in.

All of the buildings are great to stay in, it just depends on what you want to be close to. We paid for a preferred room to be close to the food court (for our refillable mugs!) and had a lovely stay in Trinidad North. Other than that, all buildings have their own bus stop and private pool, so you'd really just be paying for a building closer to the food court in my opinion. Good luck! You'll love it there just as me and DF did. :lovestruc

I had the weirdest dream last night. I dreamed I was looking at a map of CBR at check-in and the room they were putting me in was on the first floor and it opened out to a courtyard. I remember being so excited that we were upgraded for our Christmas trip!!!!:cool1:

Cross your fingers, I hope my dream comes true!!!!:cloud9:

You never know.... I called every week for an upgrade to preferred and they said they were all booked, and when we checked in.... we got it! So, here is some pixie dust! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

I will try to go over in the next several days for an update.
:woohoo: Thank you!!!!

I hope your dreams come true.

But I also wanted you to know that your dream is not an "upgrade." In terms of the reservation system, there is no difference between a room that faces a courtyard and a room that faces in the direction of a parking lot.

Anyone can request a courtyard view, but no one can reserve one, if you know what I mean. No one pays more for a courtyard view.

At CBR, there are only 3 categories you can pay extra for: preferred location (meaning one of the 6 buildings closest to Old Port Royale); water view; and king-size bed.

In other words, you have a great chance of getting what you want. Just note it as a request on your reservation, and ask about it at time of check-in.

Good luck!

I requested Jamaica or Aruba. If I get to check-in and they do not honor my requests, can I ask and pay for an upgrade to a preferred room at that time? We are staying for ten nights, I don't want to be at the back of the resort....

Quick question, which buildings/beaches have a view of Illuminations? I've heard that you can see the fireworks from certain villages at CBR.

There is a link to new pictures of the pool construction in the first post of this FAQ.

Thank you for the update! I'm confused about the sketch you posted - I thought it was going to be a pirate ship? That slide looks cool, though! pirate:

Thank you so much for the updated pictures. It is well appreciated by many! Overall how does the construction look so far? Does it look as messy as it did in your first set of pictures? Have there been many improvements since the last time you were there? We will be there in March and I am anxious that the construction could possibly interfere with our vacation. What are your thoughts? Also, why do you recommend Trinidad North? It was rated one of the worst buildings in one of the guided books. I think they said that the air conditioner was too loud and outdated. Thanks once again for all of the pictures. They are AMAZING and we look forward to seeing more :):) :cheer2: :flower3:

Just my own opinion, but we stayed in Trinidad North last March (photos in the 2007 CBR link below) and LOVED it! We liked it even better than Martinique -- nothing loud, in fact it was really quiet! I think the whole resort is great!:thumbsup2

I wasn't recommending Trinidad North because you had to take the detour through the parking lot to get to Old Port Royale. Now you can walk on the new boardwalk with no problems.

With the screening up on the fences you can't see any of the construction. I don't think it would bother anyone unless you don't like looking at fences.

It looks strange to me because they got rid of the trees and the vines growing on part of the pool structures. I doubt most people would even notice that.

I have no problems staying in Trinidad North. I didn't find it any noisier with the a/c than any other part of the resort. CBR is a beautiful resort even with the construction.

You probably could if they have any preferred rooms available.

If you want to be a little more specific on your room request, I would request Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51. These two buildings are the closest to the walkway to Old Port Royale.
