Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

Your TA can put the request in at any time. Just let them know. Usually, requests for 2nd floor are always granted. If you booked a preferred room, you may want to also request Martinique. Seems like most prefer it over Triniad North. One thing for sure, you're always 2 stops ahead of Trinidad on the buses...regardless of which entrance they use.
Thanks!!!

Very good news, indeed! By the time we go back for Food and Wine next year, we'll have new rooms at CBR and the Mine Train open! Yay!:woohoo::thumbsup2

I'm looking forward the this also!!

I just returned from CBR on Saturday. They were installing poles of some sort around the perimeter of the parking lot behind Jamaica. We were thinking it was for a tent of some sort?

When were there a couple of weeks ago (although it seems like forever already ), they had tents in a couple of the parking lots that were for a couple of the various teams that were there at the time for tourmaments. I believe one was for baseball teams, and another was for dance teams. So while it is entirely possible that it is (hopefully) a staging area for the construction workers...there are other possibilities.

Does CBR have a taxi stand at the resort with waiting taxis available at your disposal? Or do you need to have the concierge call ahead for one for you? We'll be needing one on a Wednesday afternoon and I'd prefer to come back to the resort, get our bags, get in a cab and go, and not have to specify a time we want one to be there. Thanks so much!

We've called Bell Services from our room and had s cab pull up 5 minutes later.

I've seen cabs outside of the Custom House and Old Port Royale. Like dansdad said, you can call Bell Services and have them call a taxi for you. I also believe that the concierge desk in Old Port Royale will do this for you.

How much would a cab to the Poly be?

I am trying to determine cost vs. time saved taking Disney transportation.

Does anyone know when CBR will have queen beds? Any chance this will be by September? Thanks!

What weather forecast does anyone follow? Accuweather is calling for thunderstorms and another site is calling for more sun than clouds on the same day, may 19th. I'm so confused.

From previous posters who were there to see it, there seems to be the beginning signs that the work is getting under way now. By Sept they should have some buildings done but the time frame for beginning to use those rooms is anyone's guess. I would assume that as the buildings and villages are done they would begin using them to keep the resort's capacity up. :)

Following along! We just switched to CBR as CSR didn't have FD available for our dates. We are going Oct 1-8.

We have two girls (ages 6 & 3) and this looks like it will be much more kid friendly. We just watched resort videos on YouTube and they can't wait to play on the big pirate ship spray park!

Can't wait!

At this stage it is pointless. I know Accuweather goes out 45 days now, but that is completely ridiculous and totally useless.

Wait until you are within a week and then look at the National Weather Service's (just google "NWS") forecast. You can also check Accuweather and the Weather Channel. You'll like see some variation 7-10 days out and as each day gets closer, they will come into closer agreement.

It's Florida. Showers and thunderstorms can form instantly right above you without warning. And those are virtually impossible to predict.

I was told that they would be getting queen beds when the refurb was started. As far as the murphy type beds go, there's been no confirmation. First mention of them was made after someone posted pictures of the "mock" room which had a dresser that looked like it contained a pull down type bed inside.

My hope is that they don't put murphy beds in all rooms, just some, if that is part of the rehab. While we really like our preferred location bayou room at POR last year but having the murphy bed meant MUCH less drawer space. I like that CBR rooms currently have tons of storage space and would really miss that.

I usually use the Weather Channel and have found them to be pretty accurate.

I hope that you end up loving the resort as much as we do.

I agree with you. I liked having so much storage space in our room. I'm thinking that I may unpack our suitcases and then put them back in the car until we are ready to leave. At least that will free up a little space.

Well as long as they save us some. ;) I'll cram my family of 5 in one of those rooms, no problem!

Hoping for some help...
We are staying at CBR as a part of our free dining promo in November. We are in Martinique - does anyone know if this is near the main building? I had asked for a preferred room. Apparently we now have a water view, too. I am having a hard time with the map. Any help is appreciated! (We stayed there last summer, but I can't seem to remember our area!)

Thanks!

Yes, Martinique is very close to the main building. Half of Martinique is preferred. If you look at the map in the link below, the letter B marks Old Port Royale which is where the food court, gift shop and arcade are located. The letter C is the main feature pool. As you can see, Martinique is right next to both of them. :thumbsup2
