Caribbean Beach FAQ part VI

Just arrived at our room!!!

We absolutely scored on our location. We're in Martinique 22. We had a water view reservation, so we ended up with a corner room right by the beach. There's a hammock about 30 feet from our door.

At check in, FWIW, the person at the counter said they haven't started the refurb yet.

Thanks for the update. I am so glad you got such a great room!!! Enjoy your trip!!!

Would love to stay at CBR again. We are a family of 5 so usually stay at POR. I would love it if CBR got the murphy beds. Where did you all hear the rumor that they might be putting them in?

Ok, so DH, DDs and I have stayed at CBR several times but we have always booked and stayed in Preferred, Martinique 26 is our fav!!! So, we are going during a very slow time of the year, August 25-29th (I've gotten every single ADR I wanted with several times to choose from, so I know it will be slow), that having been said, we are currently booked with a STD room at POFQ because everything is close to the main bldg. but what are our chances of getting Martinique 24-26 if we request it and not book it? I know its only a request and I'm not looking for a guarantee, just what are the odds? Has anyone ever done this before and been lucky? Just curious? I'd love to stay at CBR and would love Martinique, but just can't justify Pref. Booking, since we will be doing a land and sea next Spring Break for DDs Graduation Present.

With it being a slower time, then the possibility of an upgrade is probably greater than during busy times. We were once upgraded to Martinique 26 after booking a standard view room.

There were pictures of a "mock" (my word not the poster's) room and the dresser in the picture looked like it had a murphy/pull down bed like the ones at Port Orleans.

I like reading all these positive reviews about Shutters! Until Shutters got a new chef a couple years ago, the reviews scared us away and we never ate there despite staying at CBR year after year! This changed last December and are we ever glad we finally gave Shutters a try. We had a wonderful meal and had a great server. It was nice to have a nice dinner and then take a leisurely stroll around the resort (no bus or car transportation required!).

Curious, I did a split stayed in March: CBR / My retired father in Ocala / ASMo

Loved the food in the food court at CBR, hated the same meal at ASMo
I know Shutters is a different venue but an executive chef runs all the kitchens in the resort.

Does anyone know if there are any connecting rooms with a king bed in one room and 2 doubles in the other? Thanks!

Does anyone know if there are any connecting rooms with a king bed in one room and 2 doubles in the other? Thanks!

I can't speak from experience, but I swore I read somewhere on the board that connecting rooms are only ever the same type of beds. So two kings would connect, and two doubles would connect. But not a mix of the two.

There sure are. We've done this several times. :)

Thanks for the info! Do they tell you that it is just a request and it might not be met? We are going with my sister's family and she basically would like the kids in one room and herself and her husband in the connecting king room. We would put one adult and one child in each room on the reservation...as I think there cannot be 2 children by themselves on a room reservation, right? My kids, DH and I always share 1 room.....so I have no clue how the 2 room reservation works. Thanks for your help!

The phone CMs usually will not inform you it's only a request. Some may go so far to say you are guaranteed connecting rooms. But they are only a request.

Yeah, officially it's only a request but we have always gotten it, too. Twice during the very busy Christmas-New Years Day season. :)

We'll be at CBR for Mother's Day and I want to send a card to my mom and MIL. I'd prefer to send Disney cards-- does the shop at CBR have greeting cards or post cards? Stamps?

I don't remember ever seeing any greeting cards but they do have post cards. I always bring my own stamps but I am pretty sure that they sell them in the store there.

This is a good question - I've read a bit about the coconuts you can send. Anyone know what they cost?
