I am so torn and am hoping that my fellow DISers can guide me in the right direction. I have booked the Pirate Theme Water View Room...I have a 13DS and 3DD...(18DD will be at first year of college:sad:)...I am concerned with how far from OPR the Trinidad South rooms are...I get 5 minute walk...and some say 10-15 minute walk...also...I heard the beds are uncomfortable for adults because they do not have boxsprings...and lastly...are they too "kiddy" for my son, who I have to say loved the pictures of the room...but was thinking that maybe if I did a preferred Nemo room...my toddler may like that and a better room for location??? Okay I lied...that wasn't LAST...this is: I was even thinking of switching to CSR for the Queen beds...but worried it isn't Disney"ish" enough for my toddler....HELP ME!!! Please...I know I'm all over the place...but I feel so scattered brain with everything out there...I can't bring myself to a decision that feels good. Any opinions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.:goodvibes

I am leaving today for the CBR:cool1: We will be staying in a Pirate room and I too have a DS 13 and another DS9. I will be back next week and fill you in.

I was worried about the beds and my 13 year old but my DS9 is way too excited for it so we are doing it. I'm sure it will be fine.

We stayed in a preferred room and were soooo glad we did! the Nemo rooms are subtle, I am not sure my kids really even noticed the Nemo theme, but then again we weren't in our rooms that much. We liked CBR, but are thinking about CSR for next time. I am not being much help I guess. For us the preferred room was key and I probably would not stay there again without one, but there are many people on here who feel differently. Good Luck!

I would go with whichever your kids want -- POTC or Nemo. Just know that the Nemo rooms are as extensively themed as the Pirate rooms are. We walked from the TS bus stop (which is right about in the middle of the TS buildings) to OPR and it took us 7 minutes. So I would say that if your room is at the very furthest end of TS it could take you up to 10 minutes, at the most. We always stay in a standard room and have always had an under 5 minute walk to OPR. So for that reason we would never pay for preferred. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoy the pleasant short walks. We wouldn't pay for waterview either, because there are no balconies, plus waterview doesn't necessarily mean the lake, it could be a quiet pool.

Hope all that info helps somehow! :upsidedow Go with what you feel is best for your family. I wouldn't recommend CSR, we stayed there once and were very unimpressed at the lack of "family friendliness" we encountered.

Good luck! :goodvibes

WE just got back from disney 5/4-5/12 stayed in a pirate room.. Loved the resort, it was a bit of walking.. But that is what disney is about.. Saw the gator too! I don't think they were trying to hard to get him, we saw him all week in the same spot.. Kinda cool to see.

So we haven't stayed at any of the moderate resorts yet, so take my advice with a grain of salt. I would stick with CBR based on the pool alone. It's the only mod that has a zero entry pool and it's one of the main reasons we want to stay there (even though we're going in January.) With a zero entry pool your whole family can be in the same place.

hi
I have two questions... what building are the pirate rooms in again? And Does CBR charge to use a pack n play? thanks\
ok i found it trinidad south... still wondering about the pack n play though!

I have to agree with that. It didn't come from the CMs...they were great! My problem was coming out of my room and going to the main buildoing and getting stared at by conventioneers. Like we weren't supposed to be there or something. And the stares weren't "Oh, aren't they cute? I guess they are off to start their day!"

And I wasn't imagining it, my kids noticed it too and it was every day.

RE: Switching to CSR, we stayed at the CSR in 2004 and it was by far my least favorite of all the Disney resorts I have stayed at. It may be that I just like the theme at CBR a lot better but the CSR felt like it could have been a hotel anywhere.

Plus your 3yo will love the children's swim area if you plan on using the facilities at CBR.

Bummer, I was really considering doing CSR next and have been checking out that thread quite a bit and getting excited about it. Hhmmm. :confused3 Well, I have plenty of time to think about it :).

I'm kind of confused. I thought you had to pay extra for and pirate room--I'm thinking it said $168? Per night? You can't just request a building w/ the pirate them and get it for the same price as the regular, can you?

And I have been looking at pictures of the other CBR for a while now and had no idea they were Nemo themed! Would it be more obvious if I were actually in the room? I thought it looked kind of boring, but don't really want to pay so much for the pirate theme.

I had mentioned in another post that I am not even sure my kids noticed the Nemo theme. We didn't really hang in the room a lot. I did, but I knew that they had that theme. It is only on the bedspread that really just looks tropical with a few small Mickey Heads and on the border at the top of the room. The furniture is green. We liked it. good sized rooms. Liked the drape in between the beds and bathroom too. :)

We stayed at CSR last trip (kids were 10, 5, and nearly 3). We loved the theming, the pool/play area, and the relaxed atmosphere. We are going to try CBR this trip, but all 5 of us would be very happy to stay at CSR again. :goodvibes

We stayed at CSR in 2008. It was okay, at best. Too gosh darn big though.

For all posters on Pirate rooms. We stayed in one last Oct. with DD 16 and DD 4. I really liked it, but as we always luck out at Disney we got the LAST building in Trinidad South! It was a LONG walk to OPR, sure relaxing, but 7-10 minutes at a fast pace. Had DD4 in stroller most times. We ordered drinks from garden grocer and put them in the fridge, it would have been ridiculous to try and manage refillable mugs. 190 beverages delivered was $80, same price as 4 mugs basically. We only used the big pool once, mostly my scheduling. Bus service was awesome, TS is mostly the last stop, and you can hop on any bus at OPR and get off at TS. I like CBR, pirate rooms are cool - excited about the new resort with themed rooms Disney posted on the blog yesterday.

I would not pay for preferred and water view for the Pirate Room, just Pirate Room (which is preferred) a water view only gets you a partial view of the end of the swamp - not that exciting!
