How good are they about honoring specific building requests? I really want to stay in Aruba 55. I'm paying for the water view and want to request lake view, first floor, Aruba 55. Should I even bother with the specific building? I'd rather have a lake view in a different building than have a pool view from that building.
Thanks.

They try but no guarantees you will get your requests. Also be aware that the water view could be of a quiet pool or you may have to crane your neck to see the water.

I would not count on getting exactly what you want, unless you are going at a very non busy time. We just returned from a Christmas trip to CBR and I was very disappointed in my room location. I made the res. in June, and requested a room near the food court. They gave me a room in Barbados that was near a parking lot, even though the CM at the check in assured me it was a nice garden view. I came back to the check in and asked to switch rooms- something with a better view. I was in a hurry b/c we had res. at Chef Mickey's. The CM gave me a room in Aruba, building 56 that was next to a courtyard. The Cm said there wasn't much available, but the resort did not seem crowded. It was OK, but really far away from everything. And then we found out the courtyard was the smoking area!
We decided to try it for a night, b/c we were all too tired to switch rooms again. I decided not to ask to switch b/c my family didn't want the hassle of packing up everything to move and also there were only a few smokers there all week. I should have asked for a room near the lake. Jamaica is really pretty, I wish we could have stayed there.
The food court was never that busy. We only enjoyed the pools for 45 min., it was just a cold week. I will say the resort is quiet, except for the nightly fireworks from Studios and EPCOT! Would not want to stay here with a baby/toddler.

CBR has a preferred room category that costs extra. You would have been near the food court. Merely requesting it would be hard to get since it is a bookable category. The same thing with requesting a water view, that is a bookable category costing extra nightly.

I have to admit I did not read all 155 pages of this thread so I apologize if this was already asked and answered. :)

We just booked the Pirate rooms for May... although I would have liked to been close the main pool/ dining area, I know my kids would really enjoy the pirate themed rooms.
My question is: About how far of a walk is it from "Trinidad" where the Pirate rooms are to the main pool & dining hall?

I do remember we stayed at ASM a couple years back and we were sooo far away (in the Mighty Ducks room) from the main hall that I swore I would never book a room that far again.. :)

I hope I did the right thing and book the "pirate rooms".

The Pirate rooms are located in Trindad South. If you want to be close to the food court and main pool you should change to a preferred room. It is about a 7 minute walk from the furthest part of Trinidad South. There is an internal bus that you can hop to get to Old Port Royale and main pool.

Both times we have made a building request at CBR it has been granted.

Good luck! :goodvibes

When we walked from Trinidad South to OPR (at a leisurely pace, with 2 kids) it took us 7 minutes. :)

When we check out we are flying Southwest so we have to carry our own luggage. Will the internal busses help us get to where we meet DME or do we have to lug it all by ourself?

You are not allowed to bring any luggage onto the internal shuttle. No problem though, simply give Bell Services a call and they'll pick up the luggage from the room and store it at their office at Custom House untill your bus will leave. No need to be in the room when they pick them up, either.

so...I've read that CBR has little coffee bags to brew and that the coffee is not so great, so...

What size coffee filters will I need here?
Can I buy a bag of ground coffee @ poly

Thanks :lovestruc

What is the charge to do this, or do you just tip them? We will have to meet the DME around 7:30am fora 10:30am flight, so we won't need our luggage stored.

No charge, it's included. Tip would probably be nice tho. "Storage" is just where they put your luggage until your bus is due, whether it's minutes or hours. Also gives you the opportunity to 'see' someone handling your luggage, and tip them. ;)

One time, LS took us all with our luggage to CH, when we left at that time. Last time, we were leaving later, so they took our luggage and we met up later at CH.

Another newbie question. What are the tv channel options? Will my son have some sort of cartoon channel to watch or should I bring a few DVDs and the player? Thanks.

We havent been back to CBR for 5 years. So yes we are overdue and that's why we cant wait to go back next month! :goodvibesI just booked, requested Aruba or Jamaica. I remember from our last time getting off at the wrong bus stop and getting lost. But that worked out so good because we discovered the resort so much more. :rotfl:

Have a way to go before our trip. But really excited for CBR. We thought we would try a value this past trip and never again. I felt like I could never really relax for some reason. Mods or deluxes for us.

The coffee pots at CBR are the 4 cup size. Can't answer about ground coffee at the Poly though.

When I was there a couple of years ago, I paid for a preferred room and the order of my requests were 'first floor, Martinique 26 or Trinidad North 31, facing the water'. I knew the water was a long shot since it's a bookable category, but being close to the food court and on the first floor was more important. I was on the top floor of Martinique 24 on the back side (about as far out as a preferred room could be and still be considered preferred). I asked to be switched to a bottom floor and was told it wasn't possible. This was during the third week of Dec.

No problem though, simply give Bell Services a call and they'll pick up the luggage from the room and store it at their office at Custom House untill your bus will leave. No need to be in the room when they pick them up, either.

Has this changed within the last two years or did I get a misinformed CM? When I was there, I called the night before for bell services to pick my luggage up early the next morning. The CM was very nice, but insisted I had to be in the room with it. The next morning I waited almost 30 minutes past the time we had agreed upon, before I called to remind them. I then still waited another 30 minutes before the CM arrived. I have no problem leaving the tip on the bags, but would love to not have to wait in the room. The reason I was given for having to be there, was that the CM had to give me the little tag receipt thingy showing how many bags he took.:confused3

No, you're right. I totally forgot we had a CM help us out with some unusual circumstances so we didn't have to be in the room. They had the receipts waiting for us at CH. Sorry for the confusion!
