I'm sure this has been answered before but... Is there laundry detergent available for purchase in the laundry rooms? I'll only have one load to do mid-week but I'm not sure if I should try to pack my own since I'm a little nervous about how it would travel in a suitcase. Thanks!

There are laundry detergent/softener vending machines in the laundry rooms at the CBR. I can't recall the price though.

We did Laundry in the area at Trinidad South and there is a vending machine there. I bought Travel Size Tide and All detergents at Target. I packed them in the bag with my toiletries.

I think that the pirate rooms are in Trinidad north? Is that right
It looks like that is a good area to be in, close to everything.
Is there anything I should request? Or anything I am missing about
staying in that area?

Thank you

Actually, the pirate rooms are located in Trinidad South. The village of Trinidad North is a preferred location and have the Nemo themed (slight) rooms.

We really enjoyed our Pirate Room.pirate:
It was located in Trinidad South. Which wasn't a bad walk over to the food court in Old Port Royale. There is a lovely path along the water and which took us about 10 minutes but our kids stopped to look at a lot of stuff, the water, lizards here and there, a sandy play area with turtles. Then we saw some turtles in the water. You get the idea.

I'm going for my 6th stay at CBR. This time in the pirate room during Spring Break. I've never stayed outside of Martinique. However with older children I do not mind the walk.

isn't Trinidad South has pirates rooms too! Because I requested the pirate room in the CBR

Trinidad South has the only pirate rooms. The rest of the resort is a subtle Nemo theme.

I was wondering if anyone has ever seen a Photo Pass photographer at the CBR. They have one in the Lobby of the Poly 4-6pm didn't know if they added other resorts. I have started:surfweb: a photo pass location thread similar to the confirmed snack thread http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2332662. If anyone has any information about the photographers you may post it here or visit my thread on the link above. Thanks for the help:thanks:

The Poly thread OP just saw PP Photographer in their lobby this past October.I was hoping it might be the same for other resorts. It would be great to get photos the first and last day of a trip at your home resort. In May we had 100 pix (many at BB Boutique). I had heard alot of people complaining lately that they couldn't find PP photograpers so I started the thread so DIS'ers would know where to look for them. I paln to go back in May 2010 and would hate not to be able to make another album. Could you tell me spacificly where you had your Pix were taken so I may update my list?

Thanks I know this is a little off topic;)

WOO HOO! Was just able to switch to a room at CBR (our fave mod!). Nothing had been available until this weekend and our DU TA (HI TRACY!!!) was able to snag one for us!

Anyway, we have stayed in Trin South and North before. Would like to try either Aruba, Barbados, or Jamaica.

Jamaica b/c I LOOOVE the yellow. So beautiful! Aruba/Barbados b/c of the proximity to the Custom House.

Anyway, can someone refresh my mind as to the order of bus stops?

Thanks!

thanks for the info! I can't hardly wait to stay in this hotel again in January 2010!

Just curious ... why do you perceive an advantage in being close to the Custom House?

Buses to Magic Kingdom and Downtown Disney start at Martinique and go counter-clockwise to Old Port Royale, Trinidad North, Trinidad South, Jamaica, Aruba and finally Barbados before going to the destination.

I just got back from a week long stay at CBR, so I thought I would give my impressions.

Except for on Thanksgiving Day, I saw very few people at the resort. Where was everyone?
The Grab and Go "deli" worked out really well for me. Yes, it is extremely expensive, but it was quick and easy.

Now the bad.

I was checking in very late, especially after my flight was delayed. I got to the resort around 1:30am and was happy I would not have to lug my bags around any more. After being checked in by the grumpy front desk person, she circled some areas on the resort map and sent me on my way. I asked what I was supposed to do with my bags, and she told me it was only a short walk. Yes, it is a short walk when you do not have a lot of bags.

Not in the mood to fight, and just wanting to get to bed, I headed out into the darkness. At this point, I should also mention, it is freezing (OK, not freezing, but really cold) cold right now in Orlando and I am not dressed for this weather.

If you have ever been to CBR, you will know that finding your room for the first time is not the easiest task. I was about to find this out.

I was heading for Barbados 15. The initial walk was not too bad, but then I could not find my room. One sign pointed me in one direction, and another one did not have the room number on it at all.

I was now very pissed off and was trying hard not to let this tarnish my Disney vacation. This is supposed to be "The happiest place on earth!"

I finally found my room.

Now I was under the impression the rooms had been renovated recently. If recently means 10 years ago, then I was confused.

The door stop was broken. The bottom of the AC unit was rusty. The corners in the bathroom where dirt collects were all dirty. The TV was at least 10 years old. One of the things I always hear about Disney is their attention to detail. It was very apparent that this Resort did not follow this standard.

At this point, I should say that I am not a morning person. My strategy was to sleep late and then stay up late.

Well, CBR had other plans. Every morning I was woken up to loud machinery outside my door. I always found this strange as I was in a corner room, and not really in the center of anything. They were either cutting the grass or gardening or washing something down. Now I understand that all of this needs to get done, but I wish they would have posted the hours somewhere. For example, you will be woken up between 8 and 9am by loud machinery, so do not expect to sleep-in in the mornings.

Then there is the TVs. With all the money they spend on their cable system, I would have thought there would be better choices. And why can't I turn of the closed captioning? The TV system seems like it was setup many years ago and never upgraded with the times.

I wasn't in my room much, or even at the resort that often. The location was really good as far as getting around to the various parks. But even with the good location, I would not recommend staying at this resort.

I want to go back to Disney, but I need to find a different place to stay.

Just back from CBR yesterday! We stayed in a Pirate Room in Trinidad South! The room was great! Love the theme and the room size seemed MUCH LARGER than the one we stayed at when we were at GF, last time! I was really happy with the whole accomodations! The walk was not bad at all, especially since we ARE AT DISNEY...walking is a given! No big deal at all, and it did not take any time to get to OPR! Next time I will try either Jamaica or Martinique...because I liked the building colors and the proximity to OPR! The only thing that was a down side for me, is stopping at lots of stops before getting to South Trinidad...everytime we came home! It seemed like a lot, at then end of a 13 hour day! LOL

Could you post some pictures of your pirate room?!? We are going in May and I need a fix now!! LOL

I know that King rooms are a separate booking category, but I am hoping to land one. Should I skip online check-in and just request it when I get there? I have also heard of people faxing requests.

Leaving Sunday (:yay:) - Thanks for the help!
