Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

Another question....this is our first trip so I am starting to figure out ME ect. I just read that you should plan on about 3 hours prior to your departure for ME....I really was hoping we could spend a little more time at MK before leaving for the hotel.

Does anyone know about how much a taxi would be from CBR to MCO?? And about how long would it take?

We have a waterview pirate room booked and have requested 1st floor. Is there any particular building or area that is better than the rest, or should I leave well enough alone and let the room assigning gods determine our fate?

Can you guarantee a Pirate Waterview room? I thought the options for booking were Pirate room, Waterview room, King, or Preferred? I know when I was there several years ago I tried to book a preferred waterview and was told I couldn't. I could book either waterview which may be in any village or a preferred location (Trinidad and Martinique) and add the waterview as just a request. This is what I did. I was in Martinique, but with a courtyard view.

Yes, you can. Have been able to do so since they opened up the pirate rooms for booking. For fun; have a look at the website and price out a stay in november 2010 (far away enough, should be enough availability). You do pay a higher price though, seeing as you basically want 2 preferred things. It equals twice the price of only a pirate room or only a waterview over a standard room.

That's the only combination of preffered things you can book at CBR. So as you experienced, you can not book a waterview with preffered location.

Eeek! I just priced it out for an eight night stay in May. The waterview pirate rooms at $495.00 higher than a standard room compared to $270.00 difference between a standard and the other preferred rooms (preferred, water view, king, or regular pirate). Good to know though.

I'm not sure about the drinks/juices. I think there is a picture of the drink station somewhere in the beginning of this thread. I know there is lemonade there.

The quickest park to get to from CBR is DHS. 3 minutes once you leave the resort. But Epcot is only a 5 minute ride too. MK & AK are 11 minutes. And DTD is 9. So you won't be too far from anything. Allow up to 10 minutes for the bus to make it's rounds to all the bus stops within the resort, if you would happen to get on at the first one. Most times it takes less than 10 minutes though, more like 8.

Have a great trip. :goodvibes

Thank you! I made all our ADRs assuming we'd be on the monorail, so now I'm thinking about which to change, if any. Those travel times don't sound bad at all, though. Our only moderate stay in the past was POR and it seemed SO far away from the parks!

There is no juice on the drink station but there is pink lemonade. I also recall fruit punch. We mostly took the pink lemonade. In the am we could have hot chocolate and I used my mug for hot tea.

Thank you. We're traveling with a toddler, so I wanted to know in advance whether to get apple juice for her when I put in our Wegoshop order.

Yes, you can book pirate waterview. In fact, for the first night of our trip (12/12) it is the only room category available at any of the moderate resorts! We debated doing a split stay, using the club level code for a room at the Yacht Club the first night then switching to either a preferred or regular pirate room at CBR, but I decided that was asking for trouble from my older kids because they love Stormalong Bay so much. They'd probably spend the rest of the trip pouting if they only got one night there!

is sidewalk chalk frowned upon? or should I bring it?

Just my personal opinion but I don't think writing all over the sidewalk or parking lots, even with chalk, is appropriate. I'm sure there will be plenty of things to do to keep your children busy.

Maybe this is already on here somewhere...but I am asking anyway...we will be at CBR in December for a few days. My last stay here was 4 years ago and I just can't remember if the room had a fridge and a microwave. We are staying in a pirate room. Also...what brand of shampoo/conditioner are they using these days?? Went on a Disney cruise in May and they had these fantastic products from H2O...loved them! Probably do not have the same ones at the resort, I am guessing.
Thanks in advance for any info!

Nop, the resorts got different H20 ones as the cruise. They've got smaller sized bottles with a screwlid. Can't remember the name of the type. Can paint you the picture (grey blueish bottle) but that will do nothing for you. :lmao: It's shampoo with conditioner in one, showergel and you get a bar of showersoap and a bar of handsoap. It depends somewhat on your mousekeeper, but if need be it should be replaced daily.

I've spent 21 days so far at CBR and only once had a mousekeeper I had to leave a note asking for more (got them). Only had that mousekeeper for 2 days though, after that our regular one got back and spoiled us again. :goodvibes

I have a bottle of the shampoo/conditioner. There is no name on the bottle, but on the back it says made by H2O Plus, and a website: www.h2oplus.com (I don't use the shampoo, but it does smell really good. My DH hoards the shampoo and soap at the end of our trips. :) )

Plus, that was it! That's the lines name, like you get H20 Auquatica at Deluxe resorts and H20 Spa at DCL. End of the trip hoarder; check! :upsidedow Allthough, didn't have to do that on our last trips, mousekeeper at AKL stocked me up for home, same with stateroom host at DCL. Trip before at CBR, well as stated we had a mousekeeper that was into spoiling us. Used the shampoo for months after that trip. :lmao:

All of Disney uses some sort of H2), but I know the shanpoo/ cpnd. combo is crp. My DH isn't picky about shampoo at all and even he hates it.

I really like the shampoo/conditioner combo as just a shampoo. I follow it up with another conditioner. I like it better than most shampoos in the store. I think it just depends on the type of hair you have. Mine is thick and prone to frizziness, for some reason H2O Plus likes my hair.:cutie:

Specific to CBR, I have a question about the hotels that have been built in the background (the one seen a few posts up). When on the grounds of CBR, does this hotel take away from the ambiance? How much so?

Thanks for your thoughts!

I didn't notice the other hotel that was in the background until we started making the rounds on the bus. We were in the Martinique building and were surrounded by tall trees and didn't even see the other hotel.

I wanted to know is that CBR is allowed to see fireworks in EPCOT on the Beach at CBR!

Can you use the Disney Visa and get the 10% off at the resort gift shop(s)? I know you can in several of the storses in DTD...but I was not sure about at the resorts or in the MK, E, DHS, or even AK??!! Does anyone know?

Well, I guess it will remain to be seen if I will like it as much as what they have on the cruise ships...but I bought some on the cruise and I use it every now and then at home...the smell just makes me think of being on the cruise. So hopefully I will like the product at CBR as well so I can be reminded of the trip. As a back up I will bring my own...I don't usually like shampoo/conditioner in one. I too, am a hoarder of the soaps & shampoos...still have a couple tubes of that body butter from the cruise...love that stuff!
