Caribbean Beach FAQ Part IV

Well I finally made it to CBR to check it out. Boy is it ever a nice place! I really loved the looks and the layout of the main pool area the food court and the store. Caribean Cay is really lovely, and so are the little courtyards between some of the buildings. :)

I'm glad I got to see it- now I have to put it on my list of must-do resorts!:)

The pictures are so beautiful!!!!!!!!!

Here is my original post...our honeymoon was in July 1998 as I mentioned :goodvibes I do not think there was a table sevice that year whatsoever. At least, I was not aware of it. I wish I still had my guidebooks from that year - I'll have to look.

One more question though, the ressie CM did not mention if we could have a king size bed in our standard room. Is that a request I can make?

It wasn't called "Shutters" it was the "Captain's Table" or something similar but I know it had "Captain" in it...we had our honeymoon in August of 98 ;)
You can request a King Bed but it's not guaranteed.

Thanks for posting this thread. My sister & I are going to be staying at CBR for the first time & the first time staying at a moderate resort. Not to sure what to expect, we have stayed at All Stars & Pop Century in the past. We are going December 9th-12th :) & I can't wait.

I was wondering about fishing, I see that there are excursions, but can you just rent fishing poles? Or bring some w/ you and rent a boat to fish, or just fish from the dock?

We saw someone fishing from the grass near the beach area by Martinique.

Sadly, we'll leave CBR today. We have had a wonderful stay. This time we were assigned Jamaica bldg 44, first floot std room. I lovely room and convenient location: easy stroll across the bridege to Old Port Royale and the main pool. We were also close to the bus stop. We did online check in and our room was ready when we arrived around 11am. Just a great stay, sorry it is ending.

Only 13 more days till we're at CBR for the 1st time!:woohoo:

I have requested Jamaica 45 or Aruba 51, and 1st floor. I know nothing is guaranteed and they are just requests. Does online check in effect the chance of getting our requests, either positively of negatively? Also, if we do online check in get a room we would rather not have, can we still request a change?

Thanks!

I don't know what impact online check in would have for requests. If you want to make a change once you are onsite and you've done online check in you'll need to move to the other line. Online check in speeds things, so if you want to stop/change the process you're throwing things for a loop.

Good luck with your decision. I am a no request, luck of the draw kind of Disney vacationer who has yet to be disappointed.

I can only offer you my experience. I put my requests in through the Disney World website a few weeks before our trip. Jamaica 45 or 46 or Aruba 51, 2nd floor, corner room. I then did online check-in 10 days before our trip. We arrived at CBR at approx. 11:45 a.m. and was told our room just became available. We were given Aruba 51, 1st floor, corner room. It actually turned out to our benefit to be on the first floor because my mom was sick and has asthma, so the stairs would have been a bit much for her. We were in room 5125 and it was fabulous! We were checked in and in our room by 12 noon. Good luck and enjoy your stay.

Thank you both for your feedback. Online check in sounds pretty good.

A corner room sounds interesting. What is different about the room, just extra windows or are the corner rooms larger?

Thanks!!!!!

Thank you for the info. I think I won't add it to my requests-I don't want to push my luck!

I just like the idea of having a little more sunlight streaming into the room. I hate that cave-like feeling you sometimes get in a hotel room.

Also, I didn't want to push my luck either, but figured hey, why not, it's a wishlist, right? :lmao: I also have to say it was extremely quiet for most of the week while I was in WDW. The longest line I saw in any park for a ride was 20 minutes. Most rides were walk-on or five minutes or less the entire week. I think that might be why I got almost everything I requested. However, it got much busier by Saturday this past weekend. If you're going at a quiet time, you might have a better chance of getting what you request.

Are the door at CBR metal or wood? I wanted to make some magnetic door decorations if they are metal. Thanks!

Dawn

We can't wait for our first stay at CBR. Our trip will be in 11 days.
