After a totally broken night with Emma waking me up every hour because I was snoring and couldnt sleep (which she then said I didnt but she wasnt happy because she found the bed very uncomfortable) we got up at 7.30am. Emma popped up to the lounge to do a reccie while I got ready and washed my hair (I don't wash it every day, in case you're wondering). We went up to the Lounge to get breakfast: it was actually quite pleasant with bacon and eggs, baked beans and other things like rolls, pastries and fruit. The eggs hadnt been cooked for long enough and were pretty foul, but everything else was good.

Back to the room where we sorted the cases and then checked out at about 9.30am.
It didnt take too long to walk through the covered walkway, especially as we had a trolley where you put a £1 coin in and then retrieved it the other end. The only problem we had was when we got to the lifts to take us up to the terminal, and the one we got into wasnt working properly. The first thing that went wrong was that it was stopped nearly 3 too high and the two cabin bags flipped off onto the floor. Then it wouldnt go anywhere. After Emma panicked and screamed the place down (totally deafening me), I got us back out again and we went up in the other lift. We actually came into the terminal right near the Virgin area so didnt have far to walk. I checked in the bags and she marked them with both disabled and PE labels so they would get priority treatment the other end.
Once the formalities were taken care of, Emma wanted to go back to M&S to get something for the flight so we went down the end and bought some sandwiches and sweets using some of the £10 gift card I'd been given by a colleague for my birthday.
There was a bit of toing and froing at security as we could have gone through the assistance gate, but after going away and sorting stuff into plastic bags and finishing off the water, we came back to a long queue. So, it was back to the ordinary security area. We didnt have long to wait: Emmas bag was spot-checked, I think, as it went the other side of the belt through x-ray and it was hand-scanned somewhere else. However, they didnt open it or anything.
Then down the escalators and through Duty Free where madam rushed me through so she could go to the toilet. Our flight was called early as it was completely full, and we went to special assistance to get our little buggy to the gate. For some reason, even though the guy ushered us to the front of the gate lounge so we could get on first, they stopped us and made us wait while they loaded the wheelchairs.
Found our seats easily, but unfortunately even though the third seat next to us was empty at check-in, a couple of latecomers were split up and we got the husband. He sat on the aisle seat so Emma could sit by the window. Luckily he was as skinny little thing!
Theyve finally changed the menu; beef lasagne and coq au vin for the two meat options. Emma ordered the lasagne but for some reason they gave her the chicken as well. Still it was actually really nice. The pudding was a Gu Key Lime pie which was gorgeous. Mine had a bit of plastic in it!!! They gave me a replacement, and then came and took my details after so they can write to me later on. [Incidentally, they still haven't written to me]
The entertainment was quite boring this time. I watched The Croods and Cloudy With Meatballs II (really funny) and then played on my iPad for a while. Theyve changed their in-flight entertainment again, and its now all touch screen. All very well, but it wasnt very responsive and its not nice being continually poked in the back of your head!! Also, the sound is calibrated really badly: you either cant hear it, or it absolutely deafens you!
It was 5.45pm before we landed Id call that a bit more than slightly delayed which is their description! A wheelchair was there to meet us off the plane and we went down to the special assistance desk at immigration. Very little wait there, and then we were through to collect our bags from the best. As part of the service, they also get your bags for you. I don't know how, but he managed to push me in the wheelchair and a small trolley with our cases on it as well! He took us to the second bag drop with the escalator to the monorail. I said I could manage from there we didnt want to put our bags back on the second belt and that was the only option if I got help right to Disney Magical Express! So, onto the monorail - for the first 'ride' of our holiday!

Mind you, its a heck of a trek to the DME desk its right down the very end of the hall! A bus was there, but there was a 10-15 minute delay while we waited for another couple of families to get on board, and then we were on our way.

We got to the resort at about 7.30pm. It would have been nicer to have arrived in daylight but it is what it is.

They put our bags on a trolley outside Custom House while we went inside to check in. There was no queue at the on-line check-in so we were seen straight away. We were given our Magic Bands and resort pack, and then a shuttle took us down to our room Building 25 (Martinique). The room is nice but nothing special. Its a bit tired but at least its clean and not shabby. Most importantly, it proved to be in a lovely quiet location, and there was rarely any noise from outside.

We went over to the food hall to get something to eat: Emma had the salmon and I had half a chicken with rice: it was too much! We collected our mugs but then missed the point and drank out of the bottles we selected with our meals instead of the mugs and taking the bottles away.

Our dinner: Emma had the salmon with mash, gravy and broccoli. I had half a chicken with double rice (as I don't like black pepper which is all over the broccoli. We picked up our free mugs - and then went and drank our bottled drinks which rather defeated the purpose! I had a cinamon roll (which I ate for breakfast next day), and Emma had a vanilla Monkey cake (whatever that means). It never got eaten and ended up being thrown away on our last day.

I tried to ring the scooter people, but theres no phone service in the room and no wifi in the food hall! I sent an urgent e-mail to them to tell them where to bring the scooter, but had no idea whether the driver would get the message in time.
Emma didnt sleep very well, and kept waking me up again. Shes got to stop doing this its making me extremely tired. At least she said her bed is very comfortable.
