I have a friend who wants to do the career start..she graduated in 2005, so she's coming up on her "deadline" to apply. (We thought August 2008 would be 48 months from when she graduated..that's how they do it right?) Can she apply now, within the deadline, but apply to go in June '09? Know what I mean? I've never applied, so I don't know if you can do that or not...but is there a way/or can she apply now and just go later? I'm planning on going in June 09 and we wanted to go down together. What do you guys think?

The eligibility requirements require that she is within 48 months of her high school graduation date when she applies, so the last eligible time that she could do so before her time is up is during the spring of 2009 (assuming she graduated in May/June 2005) for the following fall season. She cannot yet apply for that particular season until they begin recruiting efforts for it, which will be around January/February 2009. She also must apply before that 48 month window passes, or she will no longer be eligible.

Keep in mind that the CareerStart Program currently only offers two program seasons: Spring (which lasts from mid January/early February to August) and Fall (which lasts from August to January).

If you both want to leave in May/June, I would advise that she pick up a light course load at a community college this Fall and following Spring (even one class each term is acceptable) - that way she would become eligible for the College Program... which opens up many more arrival and departure dates, as well as the number of types of roles available.

Yup, what Chris said. :)

I graduated from high school 4 years ago (well, it'll be exactly 4 years in a few weeks.....), but I applied a few months ago, and got accepted for the Fall 08 CS program. The Disney rep that I talked to told me that she was glad I made it in the program, because otherwise would never have another chance to be a CS'er.....
