Has anyone had any problems with cards not being accepted / recognised by DVC for annual dues payments?

I have a travel money card that I loaded with USD when exchange rates were better and now DVC online and the accounts department over the phone are giving error messages in response to the card number. I’ve used this card plenty in the United States and just checked it was still working fine by making a small payment on an upcoming Disney cruise with no problems.

Anyone know how DVC systems are different? I think it counts as MasterCard debit rather than credit card but the accounts person said that shouldn’t be a problem. The exchange rate just dropped to a 3 year low (Australian dollar) so I don’t really want to pay on a different card (I used a different card last year).

Can you purchase a Disney gift card with your mastercard and then pay with the Disney gift card?

Is it possible to buy e-gift cards that are emailed? I’ve never looked into it because you generally can’t buy the physical cards and have them sent to Australia but I’ll look to see if they do e-cards.

Master Card debit should work. If you pay by card, you must pay the entire amount. You cannot pay partial amounts. Could that be it?

Is that different from paying with gift cards? I selected “pay by contract” and could enter an amount less than full payment (I entered $1000 for my giftcard] and it took it fine and left me with the remaining balance.

I’ve tried both pay whole amount and pay partial amount but each time the problem is with the card number not being recognised as valid. I know there’s nothing wrong with the card so not sure why DVC systems are having problems with the card number.

Yes, this is different than gift cards. Only Gift Cards and Disney Rewards can be used for partial payments. (And possibly the Disney Chase Visa, not sure about that one)

Well if anyone is interested the good news is that the gift card approach worked so I’m now buying larger cards so I can cover the whole balance. Very frustrating that DVC has this problem as I’m sure it’s only for annual dues. I did use that card to pay for dining plan through member services last trip too so no idea what’s different.
