Sanaa
Luckily, I was feeling better by the evening for our dinner reservations at Sanaa! I had been looking forward to this meal an awful lot. It was high on my list of must-do's, and AKL is my favorite resort
We checked in a little bit early, so we headed upstairs to visit the animals! There were lots of them out and about at this time. We had made a pretty early dinner reservation (I want to say it was around 5?) so we could still see the animals inside Sanaa!
Once inside we were seated toward the middle of the restaurant. It wasn't the best view of the animals (I would have rather been right next to a window!) but you could still see them. Plus the inside of the restaurant is beautiful!
To start with, DH and I ordered the infamous bread service. We had heard so much about it that we certainly couldn't turn it down!
Since I've been slacking and this dining review is now from almost a year ago (oops!) I'm trying to remember which three sauces we picked for the bread. I think it was the Red Chile Sambal, Mango Chutney, Coconut Chutney. I know the breads we picked the traditional naan, spiced naan, and pappadum. Whatever it was, it was absolutely delicious! The bread service is really not overrated. I love naan, and the chutneys were fantastic - I think the red chile one was a little too spicy for me. Overall I'd give it a
9 out of 10, DH gave it a
9.5 out of 10.
For his meal, DH had the Tandoori Lamb - served with Seasonal Slaw and Coriander Khichdi:
He gave it a
9 out of 10 and his one comment was "delicious." When I asked for more, he just said that it was really cool to eat good food and watch the animals outside.
And for my main course I had the "slow cooked, pick 2" meal - I went with the spicy durban shrimp and butter chicken with basmati rice:
I went into this super eager to try to spicy durban shrimp, and then basically just picked the butter chicken randomly for a second option. I like a decent amount of spicy but nothing over the top, but this was super spicy for me! Too much so. The flavor was great and if you can tolerate spicy better than I can I bet you would love it. The butter chicken, on the other hand, was absolutely incredible. One of the best things I've ever eaten at Disney. I give the dish a
9 out of 10, but just the butter chicken is a 10 out of 10.
We thought about dessert but nothing was really calling out to us so we decided to pass. All in all we give Sanaa a
9.5 out of 10 for both the food and the atmosphere! It was so good and quickly became one of our absolute favorite Disney restaurants. We will be back for sure!
