Bad guys don't need tint if they want to shoot a cop.
If I get pulled over, that engine is off, my hands are open and out the window. After showing my info and cop is in their car, my hands still outside that window.
There's tinted, and then there is TINTED. Ours are tinted. I would hate to think how unbearable the inside of the car would be in the summer without it.
sure do! my man is a tinter so all our vehicles are tinted...legally. My windshield is tinted with a clear film so you can't tell but it keeps the heat out.

Until reading this thread, it has never once crossed my mind to stick both my arms out the window to prove I am unarmed while I wait for the cop to approach, or after they got my info.
Our 2 SUV's have the factory deep tinted windows on the windows on the passenger's door and the back section window, but not the front door windows or windshield. It does help keeping them cooler.

Just the hands, no arms. Hands on the steering wheel is fine too, any where your hands are out and open.
As for the tint, my car had factory tint and I added more, but still legal. My interior is dark, so I like to preserve it, living in the South, there is no other way with the heat and sun. Plus, I don't like having people be able to see all in the car.
I never had aftermarket tint until I got the Cadillac wagon. It's so sinister looking that I tinted all the rear windows. Not the front seat windows as all that's legal is to tint them just a few inches down and that just looks stupid.
I did the rear hatch with 5% and it was so dark that I took it off. Too hard to see behind me and difficult when backing in to the garage.
Our cars rarely sit outside so rather than the cool looking factor, there's not much reason to have them tinted.
Ours are. My Navigator came from a dealership in VA... with aftermarket tint - we never thought about it until we got pulled over in GA a few months ago - the officer used the tint meter - not legal in ANY state! We took our warning and drove on home...
Picking up a new car tomorrow - I don't think the windows are tinted... will probably tint those.
Any vehicle I drive or ride in that we have owned for more than 20 yrs has had tinted windows. In front the tint is as dark as we can possibly get......I have photophobia an written statement from eye dr stating that I need the dark tint......in more than 20 yrs tho we have never been stopped for tinted windows......come to think of it we haven't been pulled over in more than 20 yrs.
DH's car has tinted windows, mine does not. I don't really care either way.
Although I do NOT like tinted windows on SUV's parked next to me in a parking lot - you can't see thru their windows to see if a car is coming when you're backing out of your space.
