My 2 ds, 16 and 19, my dh and myself will be in the car for a total of 24 hours. I am getting nervous! We like games like phase 10, scrabble, monopoly and stuff. But what to do in car? We don't have portable dvd players but I could get them if needed. Isn't there a book about conversation starters with teens or something? We just havent been cooped up together this much in a long time. ....
Thanks!

Just remember to up their texting plans before the trip. I imagine they'll be texting the whole time!

My DS's were 15, 18, and 19 on our last driving trip to the world. For the most part they listened to ipods, and played hand held games (guess they'll never outgrow video games):). We also watched movies on the laptop, bought a power convertor at Walmart for under $50 (seems like that was cheaper at the time than buying a portable DVD). All in all, it was a great road trip...The ride home everyone napped.

Sending pixie dust your way for an uneventful drive :wizard:

Books on tape will make the hours fly by. I always check out several sets from the library for long trips. For a trip that long, I'd also get a portable dvd player. It really, really helps to have some variety.

Have you considered:
trivia games
parlor games ("the minister's cat" is one of our favorites!)
I don't know how much they have for boys this age, but maybe http://www.letztalknow.com/page/page/6656130.htm

Do you have a family favorite movie? You could try to remember the entire movie in sequence (or if they'd like it, each pick a main character and try to act it out).

My teen gets to drive part of the way, so Mom and Dad don't have to do all the driving. And he sleeps alot on the drive down. He'll just be finishing final exams, AP exams, etc, so he's already kind of worn down. I don't mind him sleeping on the way down or the way home. Because when we get to WDW, he's getting up early in the AM to do EMH at the MK with us (which he enjoys anyway).

And he'll probably bring along his college planning stuff since we'll be taking a road trip the next month to visit a few of his choices.
