Hello Everyone,

This is my first time on a Disney cruise. My husband and I are traveling with our daughter (3 at time of the cruise) and our son (11 months at time of cruise). We are doing the 7 day Western cruise with other family memebers.

Can anyone tell me will we be needing car seats for when we get off of the boat for our excursions? What about strollers? Does the Disney Cruise rent strollers or will I need to bring my own? What about a crib for my son? Will I need to bring something for him to sleep in or will they provide it? I am flying from PHL to MCO, So I don't want to have to take both stollers and car seats or a pack and play .... any helpful hints would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone can tell me what are some activities that my 11 month old and 3 year old can do together?

Thank You,
Jennifer

You can borrow a stroller on board...they have pack and plays on board and as for car seats you would need them for the plane, for a car trip to port if you were renting a car to get there or for the limo if you were using that to get there if you so choose...

Don't bring the pack and play or stoller - borrow one on the cruise. If you are renting a car or using a car service for the airport to port and back, they will charge you to rent car seats if you don't want to bring yours. If you are using Disney transport, it's a bus. You decide if you want to bring your car seats for this. It's not required by law, so they aren't provided as an option. But you'll have to decide. Also, for port excursions, you'll have to decide. Personally, we didn't bring them for our 4 and 2 year old last year, and we were in small buses and taxis when in ports. And we won't bring them this year either. But there are many opinions on this board that say differently. It's your choice. There is a strong contingent of folks who won't take the kids on the plane without car seats, but I'm in the opposite camp.

Good luck and enjoy your trip. :goodvibes

We have a 3yo and opted not to use the car seat on the plane. I really dont want to be lugging that around. We we will be renting a SUV fron Budget when we arrrive and for $10 they will provide the car seat. I'd rather pay the extra $ than to have to lug that around. We were just going to borrow a stroller on the ship also until I talked to my TA. She highly recommended bringing our own, especially when we're at the airport. I didnt think about having to deal with the luggage and lines and a 3yo. And you never know when things might happen...delayed flight...etc. So I know this is only my point of view!! Good luck with whatever you decide to do!! :flower:

Just to prepare some of you, we have recently had strange luck with our DD5 booster seat on airplanes. For about 1 in 4 flights, the flight attendant's says we cannot use it and have to stow away. I've never quite understood why. :confused3 Not really a bit deal.

You don't use a booster seat on an airplane because airplanes do not have shoulder belts. The purpose of a booster seat is to 'boost' the child up higher so the shoulder belt fits in the correct location. If you have a combo seat (booster and harness) and your child is still using the harness, that is usually fine on the airplane. I had that type of seat and my child used it with the harness on the plane many, many times. I installed it just like in a car.

If your child is big enough for a booster seat, they don't need anything on the plane.

I would highly recommend taking the stroller - We bought a smaller, umbrella-style that has a canopy to use while out in the hot sun. It really helps having the child strapped in while going thru the airport - less worry too of them wondering away & helps w/ moving around the luggage. Just be aware though - when going thru airport security the stroller had to be closed & put thru the scanner - not sure if that is still the policy.

Don't take the pack & play, but one tip we found nice was to take one of our sheets for it. That way, the child has that familiar smell of your detergent. And don't forget anything the child might be used to sleeping with.
