Hi everyone-

I hope someone might be able to help me. We are traveling to Diseny with our 2 year old daugter and will be taking her car seat. Here we had it professionaly installed --- I am sure we can figure it out but was wondering if there is anyone at the Orlando Airport to assist if neccesary?

Any informaiton would be greatly apprecieate!

Thanks

I doubt it...basically it sounds like you had a car seat tech help you install your seat in your hometown. I am a car seat tech in my area. Unfortunately, the tech should have showed you and taught you how to install the seat instead of just installing it, that way you would feel comfortable installing it.

I hope they talked you through how the child should look in the seat. If you already know that, then the other key is to make sure that the seat is installed tightly enough that it doesn't move more than an inch side-to-side at the BASE towards the back. Pull from where the belt path is located. Other places on the seat WILL move. Usually you will need to apply pressure to the seat in order to get it in securely. You will also need to be familiar with the car's belt system in order to properly secure seat.

If you don't feel comfortable, I would go back to the car seat tech and have them explain the different types of belt systems in cars so you can be sure you know what you are doing when you rent a car.

HTH.

Does your car seat have the LATCH system? If so, call the rental car company to see if their cars are LATCH equipped (I think almost all cars in the last year or two are). That will make installation a lot easier; you'll only need to make the connection and do the tether and should be able to get a good fit that way. In addition, take a very good look at the way yours is installed now (though it may not be using the LATCH system...however, that would be preferable in the rental if your seat has it and the car does too), and how it feels; it should be very tight. I would definitely not count on anyone at the airport to be able to help! I agree with the suggestion about going back to the tech for a refresher; it is important that you feel comfortable putting your seat in any car.
