I am headed to the Grand Floridian for a conference. My DW and DD are coming in the last 2 days and then we are driving down to Ft. Lauderdale for a cruise. I need to rent a car vs. taking the magical express. But my DW and DD will take the magical express to the resort when they arrive. So I would only need a car seat for 1 day of my week long rental. If I go over to the car care center to pick up a car seat does anyone know if they just charge me for the one day or do they back date it to the beginning of the rental period?

When my kids were younger we would always bring our own car seats. Rentals are expensive, you never know what they've been through and you're not familiar with how to install them. Any airline we flew allowed car seats to be checked at no cost and when we weren't using them Bell Services would store them for us. We found it to be a better experience than renting.

We normally travel with our own car seats too. But with my DW traveling by herself with my DD it is too much to carry between the stroller, luggage, and all the other stuff that goes along with us.

Just in case, please make sure she feels this way too. DH once convinced me that it was all too much for me to carry, and I deeply regretted leaving what he thought I should leave. In my case it was the stroller we used for Disney. He said I could just rent one. He forgot we were offsite at Disneyland and had to walk in. I would have been just fine with all the stuff.

Dealing with kid stroller car seat and some luggage was nothing to me. DH just got all worried. And if they are taking DME in before 10pm, all she will have for luggage is carryons.

But then I am violently allergic, so to speak, to rental car seats. :)
